Man most responsible for NOM's crushing losses spins said losses

The National Organization For Marriage's political director and mastermind responds to the serving of arse that greeted his breakfast platter:

It was a very difficult and grueling battle, but we have remained faithful and worked hard. I am, of course, very disappointed with the very narrow defeat it appears we’ve suffered in each of these four states. It appears that we have lost by a point or two in each state. It’s important to consider that these battles occurred in a very difficult political landscape. We were contesting in four deep blue states and were outspent very badly in all of them – at least four-to-one, and greater in some states. I have to accept that losing in this very difficult political environment was always a real possibility. I firmly reject the spin surely to come that this result signals a fundamental shift in American opinion in support of gay marriage. It means that we very narrowly lost four difficult contests in four very deep blue states after being badly outspent. Despite the outcome, I am extremely grateful to all the donors, volunteers, staff, vendors and committee members who were part of our team. I am honored to have played a role in these campaigns to preserve marriage in America. It is an institution worth defending, and I look forward to continuing to play a role in this historic debate

Mission Public Affairs

Actually, Frank, it's your lesbian sister and her family who should be looking forward from last night's developments.

Neely O'Hara wants to marry gays (but not to our identical cousins, one assumes)

A hot dog may make her lose control, but it's marriage equality that really gets her going:

A modern day miracle worker, that one!

For those who don't know all of these references—here's Neely…

Okay, you can celebrate our Washington win now!

Washington United for Marriage Declares Victory

Referendum 74 Approved!

After crunching numbers throughout the night, Washington United for Marriage (WUM), the broad coalition which built an historic statewide campaign, from a record-setting donor base to an unprecedented GOTV effort, all to defend the freedom to marry, today announced that Referendum 74 will be approved by voters.

“This is a clear win,” said WUM campaign manager Zach Silk. “We have run the numbers every which way, and we can no...

NOM's stock photo families are not deterred!

When the day makes you want to frown, just do what the anti-LGBT movement always does: outsource the smiles to your favorite stock photo broods. From NOM's latest blast to supporters:

Just so anti-equality advocates don't think I'm hypocritical (part 2)...

…I absolutely recognize that in every state where equality (/a pro-equality President) won, a huge number of people went the other way. In some cases, it was an almost even number.

I say this, because it drove me crazy in the days after Prop 8 to hear groups like NOM completely overlooking the millions of Californians who rejected their cruel repeal. Now, of course I believe that pro-equality and anti-equality are not two sides of a coin, and I know that those who are so undeniably hurt by dis...

Audio: Anti-gay Jim Garlow uses wife's cancer for political punditry; 'America has stage four cancer'

In a just-concluded web chat with Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, Pastor Jim Garlow—who most will know from his prominent role in the Prop 8 fight—responded to yesterday's election by analogizing the results with things like marriage equality to his own believe wife's cancer:

I could say many things. I'll stick with wishing Carol Garlow good health.

NOM's ludicrous response: Last night wasn't a turning point

It wasn't really the turning point that people like me (and Maggie Gallagher, even) say it is. No, no—it was just a way for NOM to relieve itself of that burdensome $5.5 million that was clogging up its bank account so that it could demonstrate, through crushing loss, just how pro-NOM Americans really are:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 7, 2012

"Americans remain strongly in favor of marriage as the union of one man and one woman." —Brian Brown, NOM president—

Washington, D.C. — Brian Brown, pre...

MN For Marriage can't believe they lost to those who want to 'overthrow His design'

They don't realize that their incredibly aggressive attempt to force religious beliefs onto civil policy is what is doing them in:

“Despite the disappointing outcome of this election, we rejoice tonight that marriage is still marriage. We know that God has defined marriage as between one man and one woman, regardless of the efforts of some to overthrow His design,” said John Helmberger, Chairman of Minnesota for Marriage.

“We give thanks to God for His creation of marriage, and we commit oursel...

AFA's Tim Wildmon: Secular Jews 'hate Christianity'; 'associate it with Naziism'

MUST HEAR claims from one of America's leading anti-LGBT voices, American Family Association president Tim Wildmon:

(first voice is cohost Ed Vitagliano)

"Today's Issues"—11/7/2012 [AFA Radio]

The nasty, divisive claims that these groups peddle never stop at just gays. You need to understand that, America.

NOM's one claimed 'victory': Pissing off their own party in NY

Because of their work against Republicans, the National Organization For Marriage—A GOP group, do not be fooled—seems to have taken away that party's majority in the state Senate:

GOP Majority in New York in Jeopardy As Pro-SSM Saland Goes Down [NOM]

And this is a good thing for you, NOM? This is going to help you repeal marriage? Here in this bluest of blue states, your path to success is to spend a crap ton of money helping pro-equality Democrats (both Amodeo and O'Brien support equality) ear...
