Gang violence, rape, drug abuse, molestation, racism, and—my committed marriage?!
Fred Luter, the president of the largest Protestant denomination in this country (with over 16 million members), used his key speaking slot at the 2013 Southern Baptist Convention to equate gay people and our marriages with actual social ills like violence, drug abuse, and rape. As Jesus would, of course:
Everyone sing: ♫ "And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love, yes they'll know we are Christians by our love." ♫

NOM's Roback Morse: Married gay men are like mothers with strings of boyfriends
On this day, as I celebrate my four years of being legally married to the only man I have slept with in ten years (and the only man I will sleep with for the rest of my life), I can't help but find this extra insulting:
Oh please, Jennifer. You refuse to "accept the category of gayness": that is the real problem. You don't even believe gay men like me should be gay, and you don't want others to believe it either. You refuse to accept my marriage because you refuse to accept that people like me...
Today in 'We couldn't win against him so we'll just make sh*t up': POTUS joined Rev. Wright's church b/c of its 'DownLow Club'; Jesse Jackson arranged Obamas marriage
As you can see from the screenshots that illustrate this video, Jerome Corsi still appears with some frequency on various Fox News programs. Now listen in as this man who is prominent enough to remain on the conservative punditry circuit repeats his claims about President Obama being gay, about Michele Obama having a "nasty disposition" that makes her "not the kind of woman that most heterosexual men are going to be immediately attracted to," about Jesse Jackson arranging the Obamas marriage...
Illinois' leading marriage equality opponent promotes 'overcoming same-sex attraction disorder'
The Illinois Family Institute continues to be the top group standing in the way of equality in the Land of Lincoln. The IFI also continues to show that its true agenda goes far beyond our ring fingers:
[IFI]
Hey, Illinois lawmakers: They want to "cure" us! This is the extreme, outrageous, and scientifically-discredited viewpoint with which some of you chose to side rather than to support basic civil freedoms for your tax-paying constituents.
By standing with the IFI rather than with civil marria...
Bill Donohue: Catholic Church's gay lobby 'needs to be rooted out'
The Pope says there is one. Bill Donohue says it needs to go:
"To the extent that there still is a gay lobby—there's no doubt that there still is one in the Catholic Church—it needs to be rooted out"
—Catholic League head Bill Donohue, speaking to NewsMax
Well actually, Bill, polling suggests Catholics support equality more than the national average. Perhaps this gay lobby needs to be rooted on, not out.

NOM is very partisan, Example #671,453,012
Every now and then, the National Organization For Marriage will support a random fringe Democrat who vehemently opposes equality. Don't be fooled. This organization, which supported Romney, which backs any number of GOP candidates and interests, which presents at right-wing events like CPAC and the Values Voter Summit, and whose president runs a partisan operation called ActRight is, in actuality, a far-right Republican organization.
Here's the latest example in the form a photo meme telling s...
Illinois' top marriage equality opponent: Gays can 'change,' not 'stuck with' homosexuality
It's not just about marriage for them. It never is.
Here's the man who is leading the fight to stop marriage equality in Illinois:
Soon enough, the marriage bill will come up again in Illinois. Lawmakers should know that they are not stuck with this kind of denigration of the state's population. They can change it.

Southern Baptists continue long-held plan to make gay kids feel terrible about themselves

Photo: What is NOM's 'Supreme Court Plan'?
While lecturing at the recent "It Takes A Family" conference (a project of the National Organization For Marriage's Ruth Institute), NOM's Comm. Director, Thomas Peters, spoke from a Powerpoint reading "The Supreme Court Plan":
This is the only slide I've seen, and the Ruth Institute has yet to post audio or video from Thomas' talk So let's play a game, shall? Let's guess what, exactly, NOM has planned as followup to this month's historic Supreme Court rulings. I'll get us started with some op...
