Wow. Illegal in vitro? I say you step up and go for it, Jen! I can feel the anti-NOM coalition getting broader already!

Back to school with Laurie Higgins: Pencils, paper, LGBT visibility's forced truancy

It's back to school time! Here's Illinois Family Institute writer and researcher Laurie Higgins giving her advice to Land of Lincoln parents:

"Email all your children’s teachers now, telling them that under no circumstance is your child to be exposed to any resources or activities that address homosexuality or gender confusion, including through “bullying prevention” activities or sex ed. Tell them that you will be addressing those topics at home in a way that honors your beliefs and respects...

She has a (scientifically unsound) dream: MLK's niece equates homosexuality with high blood pressure, sugar diabetes

Coretta, who presumably knew Martin Luther King's heart better than anyone, believed her late husband would today be a strong supporter of LGBT rights. But as for niece Alveda, who has turned into a career social conservative? Well, she thinks King's dream involves "freeing" gay people from homosexuality, the same way one might save someone who was born with high blood pressure, heart trouble, or diabetes:

Racism, anti-Semitism, and— LGBT acceptance?!

Slurring my Jewish husband is the equivalent of supporting his sexuality. So go the musings of conservative stalwart Pat Buchanan:

"Thus, if we seek to build a Good Society by traditional Catholic and Christian standards, why should not homosexual propaganda be treated the same as racist or anti-Semitic propaganda"

More obvious animus from a NOM employee

Jennifer Thieme (pronounced "tea-me") is the Finance Director of the Ruth Institute, a project of the National Organization For Marriage's Education Fund (NOM's c3 arm). And this is what Ms. Thieme thinks of the Pride flag:

Defacing? Disrespecting? Usurping the American flag? What amazing powers the Pride flag has! And here I thought it was just one of many celebratory banners that people use to show their comfort, joy, and revelry.

By the way, this is local news photo that Ms. Thieme...

Erick Erickson gives thoughtful consideration to the deep complexities of gender, identity

Not really:

Hear that, transgender children? The conservative blogger has determined that you and your doctors are engaging in a lie. Suck it up and grab a properly gendered toy, ASAP!

No word if Mr. Erickson will use the latest developments in transgender rights to again compare LGBT activists to Nazis. Or maybe he's moved on to other genocidal regimes.

Brian Brown vs. 'young' Log Cabin prez

Log Cabin Republicans president Gregory T. Angelo is a fully grown man, not all that many years separated from National Org. for Marriage president Brian Brown. But NOM is of course in the business of belittling anyone who opposes the mission (see the recent press release calling Fred Karger "delusional," for instance), so, in a fit to question Angelo's GOP bona fides, Brown (or whoever writes his stuff) takes a moment to make a weird jab at Angelo's youth:

Abraham Lincoln the American hero wh...

NOM's agenda will never stop at marriage (or America), example #567,342,121

Owennom-1The National Organization For Marriage's named religious liaison has said jaw-dropping things about gay people in the past. However, he might have just crossed a new line in his promotion of a draconian law that even anti-LGBT activists have been reluctant to promote.

Right Wing Watch has the details:

"When I heard the news report regarding Russia’s new law prohibiting the propagating of homosexuality I was intrigued but the outcry that followed from the American news media, the LGBT community,...
