Matt Barber says he will never accept my marriage (*even though he absolutely will, at least in law)

Screen Shot 2013-08-19 At 10.07.39 AmIt's almost as if "culture war" commentators like Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber think that their brashness is (a) intimidating and (b) working. In fact, it's neither. It actually diminishes both the strength and effectiveness of the waning marriage discrimination movement.

Nevertheless, here's the latest attempt:

Those of us who wish to remain obedient to God will not – indeed, cannot – accommodate you and play along with your sin-centric “gay marriage” delusion.

Ain’t gonna happen.

Ever.

Look, yo...

Doctors ordered: FRC demands PA physicians support its discriminatory agenda

Doctors know marriage's benefits, which is one reason why a growing number of professional organizations are coming out for equal access. To stem this tide, the aggressively anti-LGBT Family Research Council is working behind the scenes to shape the state-level votes so that these docs place value on discrimination instead:

Of course "stay neutral" is the code that faith-based groups like FRC always use. Since they frame this whole thing as a "culture war," they consider simple support for LGB...

IFI's Laurie Higgins: 'Affirming homosexual behavior as moral behavior harms kids'

As the senior researcher at Illinois's state family policy group, Laurie Higgins is one of the individuals behind the ongoing attempt to stop marriage equality in the Land of Lincoln. This is what Laurie Higgins about gay people"

"If homosexual acts are not moral acts, it cannot be a loving act to affirm them. I believe affirming homosexual behavior as moral behavior harms kids. And liberals compound this harm by continually spreading the vicious lie to children that everyone who believes homo...

Video: Raising a glass with a pointedly clenched fist

I've had the same experience that Thomas describes here:

Except my experience hasn't been as much with Republican party officials as it has with social conservatives who work directly for the groups that oppose our rights. When I got married, I got actual notes of congratulations from people who work for organizations with words like "family" and "values" in their titles. When national media outlets chose my wedding for certain kinds of coverage, some of these same kinds of worker bees from th...

Listen: San Antonio Councilwoman, staff in viciously anti-LGBT rant; 'SO DISGUSTING!' cries council member

This is Councilwoman Elisa Chan, who represents San Antonio's 9th District, chatting with staff members about a proposed nondiscrimination ordinance. By chatting, I mean denigrating. And by denigrating, I mean equating LGBT people with incest, NAMBLA, "chosen behavior," and anything else they find "disgusting" enough to properly condemn us.

A principled (and now former) aide made the recording. More info at the text link:

Prop 8 proponents, having already ignored constitutional validity, now determined to ignore millions of Californians

I am so tired of the far right running headlines like this one:

7 millions votes? No. No, no, no, no, no!

13,402,566 valid votes were cast on Prop 8: 7,001,084 who chose to support the always-was-and-now-proven-to-be-unconstituional ban and 6,401,482 who knew better from the beginning. That's only a 599,602 vote separation—a tiny number for a state with a population of over 38 million!!

Yes, five years ago, more people showed up to vote for...

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin has Darren Young's back: 'I'm for same-sex marriage'

Add pro wrestling superstar Steve Austin to the list of prominent sports figures who feel comfortable putting the choke hold on the athletic world's longheld homo-hostilities. Austin (the first voice) has come out for marriage equality:

'We will never stop mocking trans kids' vows once-pragmatic-but-now-decidedly-fringe NOM

The National Organization For Marriage and, in particular, its political director, Frank Schubert, have spent the better part of this week knocking California for passing a law that safeguards the basic protections and full participation of transgender students. But the discriminatory organization hasn't limited its opposition to the law itself, instead denying that gender identity is even a thing! They are just taking it upon themselves to determine that these children are lying and that the...

NOM defends 'ex-gay' advocate; 'Christ liberated him from 'the sin of homosexuality''

Self-described "ex-gay" Donnie McClurkin has said that he was set free from "the curse of homosexuality" and has made strides to liken gays to things like drug dealing. Add in a racial element, and Mclurkin becomes the perfect new "victim" for the increasingly fringe organization that we all know would like to "drive a wedge between gays and blacks":

Who would think we would live to see the day when a black Mayor of the District of Columbia would use not only local but federal funds to ban a G...

Josh Duggar says lesbian aunt 'chooses' her 'lifestyle' but doesn't want 'special rights'

Filling in for his boss Tony Perkins on a radio program that was about 95% dedicated to opposing LGBT rights, FRC Action Executive Director Josh Duggar today talked (after a caller prompted him to do so) about his lesbian aunt and how he loves her even though she "chooses" to live a lesbian "lifestyle." Oh, but Josh says he has assured his aunt has assured him that she doesn't want to get married (which Josh calls "special rights"), so all is well. Listen in:
