Brian Brown says same-sex marriage 'doesn't exist in reality'; attacks the reality of it anyway
Prop 8, the measure around which he built his and his organization's national profile, is now dead. Brian's understandably unhappy:
"The ruling is very disappointing but not unexpected. Unfortunately, a million Californians, redefining marriage in direct contravention of the expressed will of the people. [Editor's note: Huh? What does that second sentence even mean?] Same-sex marriage in California is illegitimate, imposed by judicial activists in direct opposition to the expressed will of the...
New marriage definition: One man, one woman—constant eye contact during sex?!
An anti-gay politico in Mexico, Ana María Jiménez Ortiz, has determined that gay people should not get marriage because gay people do not face one another during sex:
"Marriage should only be considered as those relationships in which the members have sex facing each other, which does not occur between homosexual couples." (via Joe.My.God)
Without being vulgar, I must begin by noting that she's just plain wrong. As much as I love hearing gay sex described by people who claim to loathe it so, I...
Certain anti-choice orgs extending that mindset to marriage equality
The Baptist Press reports on an interesting rift developing in Ohio, speaking to larger rifts that are sure to grow the conservative movement. The gist:
CLEVELAND (BP) -- The nation's oldest and largest grassroots pro-life group, the National Right to Life Committee, has broken ties with a Cleveland affiliate accused of causing dissension by adding the gay marriage issue to its platform..
Like the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), Cleveland Right to Life denounces abortion, infanticide a...

Marriage equality is CA's to have and to hold!
Good news for residents of history's right side:
The California Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to block same-sex marriages from continuing throughout the state, rejecting the latest legal bid to revive Proposition 8's ban on gay nuptials.
In a brief order without explanation, the justices declined to hear a case brought last month by backers of Proposition 8 who argue that the law should remain in effect in at least 56 of the state's 58 counties.
Gay marriages remain legal in California [Mer...
Stay vigilant.
Well this is disheartening:
Two men holding hands in New York City‘s historically gay Chelsea neighborhood were the victims of an anti-gay bias attack by up to six men Tuesday night. Both men suffered lacerations to their faces and one required stitches.

A harsh reminder. Even in pockets of the nation that show us how far we've come there are still reminders of how far we have to go.

NOM now officially an anti-trans organization
Yesterday on NOM Exposed, I wrote about the anti-trans column that the National Organization for Marriage's political director wrote for RedState.com. Today, NOM enthusiastically endorses the idea that gender identity is a lie, even though sound science disagrees with them:
[NOM]
Everyone that doesn't share NOM's orientation, political consciousness, opinions, regard for scientific opinion, and (CATHOLIC) belief system is now regarded as "lying." Debate over. They just not claim they are right,...
Gays starting to move to states that respect our rights, families; obviously
This is going to be a popular story between now and the time that America has full marriage equality in all fifty states:
Hans Bernhard and Mitch Null say they may leave North Carolina -- taking their daughter, their jobs as a veterinarian and an information technology business operations manager at Cisco Systems Inc. and the tax revenue from their properties.
Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a key part of the Defense of Marriage Act, the couple is considering moving to M...
Todd Starnes smears lesbian writer, her amazing book, its supporters; so being Todd Starnes, basically
Fun Home is a fantastic book. I'm not the only one who thinks so, either. Alison Bechdel's much celebrated memoir, a hit with readers and critics alike, topped multiple prominent outlet's lists of 2006 books and vied for major awards.
But while a great book, it's not a particularly sexy book. As in, you would never read this book because you were looking for some quick jollies. Far from it, in fact. It's neither overt nor salacious, with any sexual encounter played as a life event, be it run o...
