NOM's Brian Brown no longer pretending he's talking about *civil* marriage

This morning in Richmond, VA, the matter of civil marriage and its government-driven banning will go before an appeals court. Outside that same court this morning, the man who is leading the national fight against marriage equality made it clear that he is really fighting for his personally-held religious view, not our shared public policy on *civil* marriage:

NOM in Oregon: We have invisible in-state members. We promise. Trust us. That's how courts work, right?

The National Organization For Marriage, which will face a hearing later this week to determine if it has any business involving itself in the District Court case that could serve to overturn the state's discriminatory marriage ban, is now claiming that it cannot reveal the Oregon residents on whose behalf they are working because those people were too scared to come forward:

The marriage group is seeking to intervene on behalf of NOM members who are a county clerk in Oregon, people involved in...

Can Al Gore's internet please stop turning people gay?!

From the monthly magazine of Parents of Friends of Ex-Gays, a publication and host organization that wouldn't exist if not for wacky theories about what "turns" someone gay, comes this claim about an "ex-gay" son:

I mean, I'm familiar with those hucksters who use the internet to send emails promising ways to lengthen or firm up one's penis. I'm not as familiar with the web entrepreneurs who use the web to instill a previously absent desire for the male organ. They must kn...

Bryan Fischer: Michael Sam has 'literally got an improvised explosive device sitting under the floorboards of his life'

Building on his earlier claim that he's like a walking brain concussion and relying on junk science that he twists to "prove" that gay men die young, American Family Association senior analyst Bryan Fischer is now comparing NFL player Michael Sam to an IED—something that kills soldiers in combat. Clip is cued:

The Journal of Epidemiology report to which Bryan is referring was conducted during the height of the AIDS crisis, in the '80s and early '90s. In 2001, the researchers came back and note...

Another advancing clock, another regressive FRC attack

Activist judges, y'all:

Oh please, Tony Perkins. You'd be just as upset if this were done by the voters on a Tuesday afternoon. When you go after LGBT people as much as you have, dear, none of us suspect for a second that you're going to support any policy that gives a fairer shake to those same people who you spend your days decrying. You don't want us to have a fairer shake. Just own that.

Anti-gay activist admits NOM's Starbucks boycott has been a failure

Peter LaBarbera is quite pissed at the coffee giant for running a national ad campaign that honors the reality of two-mom families. But frankly, I don't care about that. Peter gets ticked off as the first syllable in the word "Gatorade." I don't expect anything less than his overheated revulsion whenever he sees a sweet and inclusive ad.

What I do find funny and notable, however, is his admission that the National Organization For Marriage's attempt to boycott Starbucks has been a total failur...
