Shirley Dobson promotes National Day of Prayer by framing marriage equality as 'evil'
The National Day of Prayer is this Thursday, May 1. If you hear of any of your well-intentioned friends of faith signing on to this day, thinking it to be a good faith effort, please let them know that it is actually a socially conservative and pointedly partisan stunt that considers things like marriage equality to be "evil."
Hit it, organizer Shirley Dobson (wife of Focus on the Family founder James Dobson):
Eh, I'll save my reverence for Cinco De Mayo. Guacamole is mu...
Video: Catholic propaganda film seeks to end screaming, gay sex
Despite being a major driver of all current inequality fights, the Catholic view loves to put itself above the fray. The idea is that neither side needs to scream or even really debate. Instead, gay people just need to become celibate. It's a "third way," some say.
And now Rev. John Hollowell, who I have covered here a couple of times in the past, has put that whole conceit into a lil' film, producing a new propaganda video that marries insistent chastity with false compassion. Watch as much o...
Janet Porter pits gay people against the heterosexuals who keep creating us
Gay people are part of the natural kingdom. And might I remind you that ours is an overpopulated kingdom, even with quite a few LGB human beings thrown in the mix.
But of course to people like longtime anti-LGBT activist Janet Porter, we, the ever-existing gay people who were seemingly put here for a reason, are not to be viewed as part of the human fabric but rather as the scythe that will eventually tear apart its threads. Take a look:
And if the planet were filled with only w...

Audio: Rep. Gohmert (Crazy-far-to-the-R–TX) says marriage equality will lead us to 'dustbin of history'
Marriage equality will "lead your country down the road to the dustbin of history." It's just the latest profile in leadership from the member of Congress most determined to make the GOP seem like something other than a viable party of the future:
When it comes to whose stance future generations is more likely to sweep away, I'm quite willing to take my chances against the esteemed congressman.
But Gohmert's right that there's nothing new under the sun. Every viable minority group has faced off...

AFA's new definition of bullying: Businesses that say they don't discriminate
The sticker is simple. It just tells LGBT people that their money and business are welcome at a particular establishment:
The pro-business, pro-economy campaign comes in response to Mississippi's governor signing his state's version of the "license to discriminate bills" that anti-LGBT social conservatives are trying to enact across the country. When Gov. Phil Bryant (R) signed that bill in front of gay-hostile invited guests like Tony Perkins—TONY PERKINS!—we...
Well of course it isn't hard for you, straight man, to take emotion out of your marriage discrimination
In an interview with KSL-TV, a for-profit broadcast arm of the Mormon church, Heritage Foundation's Ryan T. Anderson shares all of his same talking points for why he should get to impose his Catholic view of marriage onto civil policy. So boring. I'm not going to rehash resistance to a rehearsed monologue again, especially one lazy enough to recite Maggie Gallagher's "two halves of humanity" schtick.
I will, however, talk about this:
KSL: Is it hard to take the emotion out of this debate?
Anders...
Americans sparking global animus: Singapore edition
The "Love Singapore" organization holds the view that homosexuality is both abnormal and unnatural, and it is determined to keep it that way:
To make the case, the group is bringing in some help from America's very own "culture war." In fact, the group's annual conference will feature two Californians who were quite instrumental in the Proposition 8 fight: pastor Jim Garlow and former National Org. For Marriage associate Jennifer Roback Morse:

Video: GOP hopefuls for U.S. Senate (plus current Senator) cater to Iowa's most anti-LGBT group
The Family Leader, Iowa's big "pro-family" group, is excessively anti-gay. The organization and its voices aggressively oppose anything that gives local LGBT people a better and more fair chance at life. Plus you likely know the truly nasty rhetoric of TFF's head, Bob Vander Plaats, who has several times called homosexuality a "public health risk" and equated it with things like smoking and "playing dodge ball in the street." Or maybe you know about TFL's longtime senior voice Chuck Hurley, w...

Obtuse conceit, thy name is NOM
Check out how the pro-discrimination special interest group the National Organization For Marriage sets up its latest e-letter letting its supporters know that they're still around (who could blame them for not knowing?):
Dear Marriage Supporter,
Sometimes, a married couple in trouble will seek counseling and be encouraged to "role play" during the session. They try to step into one another's shoes and see things from the angle and point of view of the other.
This can be a useful technique for i...
