Cover Reveal: One Summer With Autumn

One Summer with Autumn
Julie Reece
Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: October 11th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult
Seventeen-year-old Autumn Teslow arrives at her father’s job fair knowing she’ll never measure up to the perfect image of daddy’s little girl—her twin sister.
Wearing anger management issues like a second skin won’t help Autumn win her dad’s approval for the big trip she’s been planning—or meet his condition that she successfully complete a summer internship for college.
Autumn’s cool unravels when her sister lectures against disappointing the family again. And when a young, bearded guy steps through the crowd to settle the growing argument between siblings, Autumn lashes out, dubbing him a “Duck Dynasty wannabe.”
At Nineteen, Caden Behr is clueless as to why his man parts are threatened by the fearsome girl before him. He’d only come to find an intern for his recreational equipment company, not break up a girl-fight between two sisters.
Unfortunately, the only candidate left is the girl who just told him off. Without her, he’ll never prove to his CEO mother that he’s ready for more responsibility.
Autumn and Caden agree that if they can keep from killing one another, they can use one another to get what they want and then never have to see each other again. Which is what they want.
Until it isn’t.
Because despite her best efforts to scare him off, and his fading desire to push her into the lake, they’re beginning to enjoy the time they spend together. But pride is a hard habit to break. And if neither will admit their changing feelings, they could lose a whole lot more than one summer.

Author Bio:
As a child, Julie’s summers were about horseback riding and fishing, while winter brought sledding and ice-skating on frozen ponds. Most of life was magical, but not all. She struggled with multiple learning disabilities, and spent much of her time gazing out windows and daydreaming. In the fourth grade (with the help of one very nice teacher) she fought dyslexia for her right to read and won.
Afterward, she invented stories where powerful heroines kicked bad-guy butt to win the hearts charismatic heroes. And then she wrote one down…
Writing ever since, Julie weaves southern gothic, contemporary, fantasy, and young adult romances. She enjoys sweeping tales of mystery and epic adventure… which must include a really hot guy. Her writing is proof a dream and some hard work can overcome any obstacle.

Goodreads / AmazonEXCERPT:Faith appeared with four glowing green drinks in a cup holder tray. Clear plastic cups, lids, and straws let the liquid inside glow through. It looked like something that would spawn ninja turtles. “These are the Incinerator’s own toxic spills. They’re just vodka and sprite with a capful of that crap they put in glow sticks. Did you know you can drink that shit?”Jonah reluctantly took a plastic cup. “Are you sure we should drink it?”
“It’s not going to kill us. No more so than the alcohol.” Ilya picked up a cup and took a long generous pull on his straw.
I took an experimental sip. It tasted like vodka and sprite. There was a mildly synthetic aftertaste, but nothing toxic. I took another, much larger sip. There it was – the warmth I’d been craving since my shower. I might stand a chance of sleeping tonight after all.
Jonah followed my lead and took a slurp on his straw, pausing to let the liquid do its work. He looked at me with a devilish grin and grabbed my hand, pulling me off to the dance floor. His touch radiated energy into me, right through my skin waking up every cell in my body.
He leaned down and kissed me, running his hands through my hair. His powerful grip felt restrained, as though his mind fought to control his body. The intensity surpassed our first night together. After we had spent so long mocked by his unstable mutation, first hurting me and then nearly killing him, we were both finally stronger than ever.
“I can’t help myself. I need to touch you. I don’t ever want to let you go. We’re going to make up for some lost time tonight.” His lips brushed my ear as he spoke. His fingers traced the line of my neck and it sent shivers down my spine. So much for sleep!

heat-wave-amazon

heat-wave-3d-book
They say when life closes one door, another one opens.

This door happens to lead to paradise.

And a man I can never, ever have.

Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica "Ronnie" Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago’s finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her – running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel – she’d be crazy not to take it.

The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy:

Logan Shephard.

It doesn’t matter that he’s got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that’s sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl.

What does matter is that he’s a grump.

Kind of an asshole, too.

And gets under Ronnie’s skin like no one else.

But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it’s the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating.

There’s just one major catch.

The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.

Forbidden, Illicit, off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned.

Book Review: Roman Crazy

Roman Crazy (The Broads Abroad #1)by Alice Clayton (Goodreads Author), Nina Bocci (Goodreads Author) 4.23  ·   Rating Details  ·  202 Ratings  ·  150 ReviewsAvery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…

Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Roman Crazy generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

Romantic comedies are always a fun retreat in reading for me. Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci penned a cute and fun contemporary romantic comedy story in Roman Crazy. It's full of gorgeous settings, sassy banter, and passion in this book of a woman's path to self discovery ten years later than planned coupled with the second chance abroad love story.

For an easy, afternoon read to those who love very low angst and a large dose of humor in their books Roman Crazy is definitely for you. It started off with a lot of flair. I felt excited traveling to Rome with Avery and couldn't wait to see what she discovered. Her sorrows are balanced out with quick humor and self deprecation. She's trying to reinvent herself in an invigorating setting with the help of a worldly and single best friend. When she sees Marcello in a restaurant in Rome old sparks kindle themselves and we set off from there. Throughout the middle of the book I became a bit bored. Every attraction and every art medium was described in detail and the lengthy descriptions got to me a bit. I felt it lost focus of the romance and the conflict for a good chunk. While the passion was good I felt disconnected from their story for a while. The last 25-30% though kicked back into gear and I felt the authors did a really great job of handling additional conflict and bringing Avery's story to a close.

The book was more, to me, a solid women's fiction than an all consuming romance. Avery's journey was more than just falling in love abroad. It was a woman falling in love with herself and her passions in a way she never fully realized. And with all the humor infused in the writing it made for a fun Sunday afternoon read. I think readers who enjoy comedy in their writing and a good women's story and especially traveling will enjoy Roman Crazy.

Running a company isn't easy, especially when everyone expects you to fail, so being a jerk? It comes with the territory.

I don't have time to mess around, and I sure as hell didn’t see her coming.

Cara Hamilton—she was supposed to be off limits…a temporary employee brought in during my assistant’s maternity leave.

But, in the blink of an eye, she became so much more.
An obsession I couldn’t shake.

So yeah, I may be an asshole, but now, I finally had a purpose, and soon, she would be mine.

Read a sneak peek of BEHIND CLOSED DOORS:"Can I ask you something?" she said, drawing my attention away from the monotony on my computer screen. I looked up to find her eyes dead set on mine. It was unnerving.

She usually tried to avoid direct eye contact with me. Maybe I intimidated her. Perhaps she found me attractive and the idea of lusting after her boss bothered her.

Believe me, it bothered me too.

In a very physical way.

“Go ahead,” I answered, unwilling to break the intimate connection she'd started.

"When you saw me… at the club that night," she said, her eyes wavering just slightly. "What was it you saw in me? I mean, was it just the clothes?"

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Even though I'd said we'd never speak of what happened that drunken night two weeks ago, I saw something in her eyes that needed an answer.

That needed something more.

"Why are you asking?"

"It's nothing, sorry. I'm being stupid," she backpedaled, as she began fiddling with the hem of her skirt.

Looking back at our few interactions, I suddenly noticed the difference in how she'd acted today. Her normal never-ending stream of word vomit was there, but behind it, there was an internal struggle going on. The hemline wasn't the first thing she'd fidgeted with. I'd watched as she'd pulled at the collar of her shirt and then, as if she'd realized what she had done was wrong, quickly lay it flat again.

"Does this have something to do with the way you're dressed today?"

Pink tinged her cheeks once again.

"You noticed?"

I simply nodded, not trusting myself with words in that moment.

Because I’d more than noticed. It’d been damn hard not to think about anything but.

"A gift from my boyfriend," she replied. "He said my old clothes didn't fit in with our new life style. It was a very generous gift," she added, never forgetting that politeness she'd no doubt been taught since birth.

"But?" I questioned, waiting for her to continue.

"But… I don't feel like me anymore," she finally admitted.

"And I'm guessing the night in the club was another gift of his as well?"

It was her turn to nod.

I could see the indecision and worry gnawing at her. Someone like her, sweet, honest and good… she was meant for better things than a life with a man who didn't appreciate her.

Leaning forward, I made sure she saw the sincerity burning in my eyes as I spoke. "That night in the club, I'll admit, I noticed the dress first."

She opened her lips to speak but I held up my hand to stop her, wanting to make my point.

"And today, when you walked in, I couldn't help but give a second… or third glance at the way that new skirt hugged your ass."

Her eyes widened at my blatant honesty.

"So yes, the clothes may grab my attention for a moment or two, but the fact that I'm still interested, two weeks later? That's you, Cara. That’s all you.”

And just like that, I'd crossed the line.

I’d hit on an employee.

And there was no going back from that.

Release Day Launch: The Playbook

playbook 0 days banner (1)

playbook_amazonMy life revolved around two things. Football and my cock. And not necessarily in that order.

Being the head football coach for a top university in Texas had its ups and its downs.

The ups? Endless women to f*ck.

The downs? The politics that came with the job.

From the moment Aubrey Cain walked into my office, she turned my world upside down. Being forced to have her follow me around for a month was going to be a pain in the ass. Especially since I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her.

The best I’d hoped to come out of this was a few nights with her in my bed. I never imagined she’d be the game changer.

Brett Owens was my assignment.

Head football coach for a top college, bad boy reputation, short temper, and handsome good looks should have scared me off. But I was tougher than that.

From the first words out of his obnoxious, dirty-talking mouth, I knew it was going to be a long month. It wasn’t five minutes after meeting him, he hit on me. If only I had known his blue eyes would haunt my dreams and awaken a desire inside of me I never knew existed.

This was business. There was no way I would be tempted by him no matter how good looking he was or how many things he whispered in my ear.

He was only supposed to be my assignment. Not the man who threatened to destroy both my heart and my career. I would follow along with his playbook for now. But who would end up winning was anyone’s guess.

The Playbook is a stand-alone novel.

Book Review: Escaping the Edge

Escaping the Edgeby H.M. Sholander (Goodreads Author) 3.38  ·   Rating Details  ·  8 Ratings  ·  0 ReviewsAddiction. The very thing I crave. The thing I need more than my next breath.
I can’t live without it. But I have to. It tore my parents apart. And now, it’s tearing me apart.

I’m wrecked with guilt over losing my best friend. My other half. I blame myself. I know I’m not the one who stole his last breath. No, it wasn’t me, but it could have been. Drowning. That’s all I’ve been doing since he left me. Drowning in my addiction. In my pain.

I’m turning it all around. I’m leaving the drugs and alcohol behind me. All with the help of him. Ryan. My saving grace. The one who can put me back together. But, will I only bring him down, or will he save me?

My name is Avery Bennett, and I am an addict. I’m in love with a ghost, but my heart is being stolen by someone I never saw coming.
Lori's thoughts: Something about the description of this book made me decide to take a chance. Probably because I'm no stranger to the world of addiction. Not me, personally. Just people who have been in my life at various times. The book's portrayal of addiction and the long road of overcoming it is pretty much true-to-life. The storyline was a good one. Reading through the book, I kept thinking it was a solid 3-star for me. Until I got closer to the end and it bumped up to a 4-star. I never felt completely in touch with the main character, and I'm not sure why. Ryan was a blessing to Avery, and he often seemed to be a little too good to be true, but he was pretty awesome. There were a few editing issues. Nothing major. Sweat for for sweet, a forgotten or extra word here and there. But I know firsthand what it's like to edit a book until you're blue in the face, so I won't hold it against the author. Overall, a good read.

Goodreads / AmazonAre you a reviewer?

You can request a review copy of Beautiful Mine here!—EXCERPT:I’m waiting for the elevator, wondering if I should ask the front desk for tips about restaurants or just find a place on my own. Then the doors open to reveal someone standing inside. My lips part in surprise. Connor does a double take, then gives me a slow, slow smile.
Umm…. okay. This is a whole new ballgame now.
“We meet again,” he says, still smiling. My estrogen starts flowing at the sight of that smile and those eyes. I couldn’t stop it now if I tried.

“Hello again,” I say as I step into the elevator. He looks—and smells—freshly bathed as well and I have a sudden vision of him naked in a tub. God. Between that and the fact that there’s apparently no escaping this guy, I completely forget why I was trying to escape him to start with.
The doors slide closed with a soft thud and the little space grows even smaller. I don’t stand too close, but I certainly would’ve stood farther away if I’d never met him before. The car begins its downward journey and my stomach swoops more than usual.
We start giving each other that wondering look from before. He’s still smiling, and there’s a smile teasing the corners of my mouth too. In spite of being freshly bathed, he didn’t shave. He still has that cute scruff on his jaw.
“You’re staying here, too?” I ask.
He turns toward me a bit and leans one shoulder against the back wall. Oh man. Just like when he turned toward me at the table, this little movement makes things feel more familiar. But this time it’s just us. In this little box. I like it. “I heard this is the best place for the weary Camino pilgrim,” he says.
I adjust slightly so I can lean against the wall as well. I really can’t help it. Because it seems like this is the moment we’ve been building to all along. “That’s what the guidebooks say anyway.”
“Do they?”
“Don’t you have a guidebook?” The car already starts to slow, dammit. I don’t want to walk away this time. I want to linger awhile.
“I’m not the guidebook type,” he answers, as we come to a stop. “I’d rather just ask around. But I think we have more important matters to discuss.”
The elevator dings and the doors open. Neither one of us moves. My heart is thumping in anticipation. “Do we?”
“Yes. You’re about to go your way and I’m about to go mine, but clearly the universe thinks we need to talk some more.”
Thump, thump, thump. Now it’s my turn to give a slow smile. “The universe, huh?”
“Okay,” he says, grinning. “it’s me. I think we should talk more.”
