things i have read recently that i like + a bunch of links

who needs goodreads?

holy land by rauann klassnick - this book is just awesome. it's very concise and violent and beautiful and scary. it's the history of the human race.

pigafetta is my wife by joe hall - the poems in this book are pretty amazing. hall experiments with different forms in a very effective collection of poems about heartbreak and the dissolving relationship and magellan.

field mice by matthew savoca - this ebook is good. matthew's poetry in this ebook crosses a scientific analysi...

milk

i really want to smoke crack so i can say to all the anti-crackateers, "i've tried it and i don't see what all the fuss is about. i mean, it's great, but...you know. it's just crack."

anywhere, here's a something from william carlos williams' "Authors Introduction to The Wedge:

There's nothing sentimental about a machine, and: A poem is a small (or large) machine made of words.

...

Your attention is called now and then to some beautiful line or sonnet-sequence because of what is said there. So...

awp

i got to hang out with a lot of awesome people at awp. now i am tired as a hell.

to all i met and hung out with, you are awesome. hopefully, i'll see you next year.

i'm too tired from the conference to go more in depth than that. i'm saving the remainder of my energy so i can write a presentation that i'm supposed to give tomorrow morning. if anyone can think of some really smart stuff that i could say about wcw's paterson you should email me before 9 or 10 mountain time tonight.

just kidding.

west wind review and the realest motherfucker in the world

i have three poems in the new west wind review.

here is the first of them (click to see large version).

i don't have a computer anymore.

if you are going to awp you should say hi. i'll be at the colorado state table on thursday afternoon around 2. for all times other than my hour at the csu table, i will simply cease to exist. or i might just walk around aimlessly.

i will have 25 copies of a chapbook i threw together for mega cheap. i'm thinking of setting up my own bookfair table in the hotel ba...

castle oldchair

so, i want to help preserve the good tradition of music in muncie, indiana. for me, the best way i can do that right now is to give you three songs that i love from an old muncie act called castle oldchair.

(also, these songs are off an album called "sad pants." i don't know if it's still available.)

i will try to tell this as best i can. though, i don't know much about castle oldchair. just that i like these songs.

a lot.

these are probably castle oldchair's most accessible songs. i've seen cas...

ROCK OF LOVE BUS: THE TORNADO EPISODE

almost a year ago, (i know i say over a year ago on the video, but i just checked the chatlog and it was on 3/24/09) mike young asked me to write a poem and make a video for NOÖ JOURNAL'S RAD poetry thing. i said yes, i'll write that poem. i'll make that video. nearly a year later, i finally did those two things.

the poem was supposed to be about a character from ROCK OF LOVE BUS. i actually watched three episodes of the show as "research." after watching the show, i couldn't think of a way to...
