Retiring with dignity

15 April 2017

Reflections with Dr Wilbert R. Mutoko

RETIREMENT WITH DIGNITY

I get hurt when I see retired people receiving wrong financial planning advice. This leads these senior citizens to be heart broken and die miserable lives. Some of them end up having to beg for any kind of job just to get by.

It is unprofessional for a financial adviser to give advice to a client which only results in benefit to the adviser. However, I believe it is wickedness for a financial adviser to misguide or cheat a senior citizen. Imagine! A young person can make financial mistakes and still have time to recover. But what about a retired senior citizen?

My message to financial advisers – Please I beg you to be professional and stop fleecing people old enough to be your parents or grandparents. Cheating people that have no other option to earn money. These are people that need to relax and enjoy the fruits of their labor, rather than to die in financial misery.

My message to retired/retiring senior citizens – please, you no longer have the time, energy and opportunities that you had in the past. Therefore, avoid seeking advice from unaccredited financial advisers or from friends that know nothing about financial planning. Be knowledgeable. Only get advice from professional people.

Why seek help from professionals? The reason is simple. Same applies to choosing a construction company. While it seems cheap to deal with an unregistered construction company, in the long-run you pay more to bogus construction firms. Never the less, if at all a so-called professional cheat you or misrepresent facts, you can report them to the association and steps can be taken against them.

Your Future

7th April 2017

With Dr. Wilbert R. Mutoko

Your future depends squarely on you.

Your future depends on how much you are willing to pay the price for perpetual success.

Farmers never wish they would have an abundant harvest. They do not just pray for it. They do not just talk about it.

Rather, farmers plan and work at their trade. Thus, a farmer’s harvest is not accidental.

The farmer reaps what s/he plants, weeds, tills, water etc.

You should do to your projects as farmers do.

Let’s get to work and make a difference to our families, community, country, continent and world at large.

Yes, let us do this!

See you at the top!!!

as a business leader who is your first customer?

29th March 2017

With Wilbert R. Mutoko

“If you look after your staff, they will look after your customers. It’s that simple.” – Richard Branson

You need to start treating your staff as customers. Listen to their grievances and suggestions where possible. Know their pains and understand their fears. These are people that spend 8 hours or more away from home to make things happen in your establishment. They sure should matter to you, unless you do not care about the future of your organization.

Therefore, if you ill treat your staff (including your maid, garden boy, cleaner) don’t be surprised when they care less about your affairs/business. Before you know it, you see productivity going down.

It is not smart to be surrounded by a bunch of complaining and grumbling staff. You need to satisfy most if not all of their desires. Ask King Solomon in the bible how he did that. His staff were happy always and they lacked nothing (2 Chronicles 9: 1-8).

As you grow your firm, remember to benefit your staff that toil day and night for your success.

I know you are smart enough to know that oppressed staff have no loyalty, they are always applying for jobs elsewhere.

Do you want to prosper? Then build a team of highly motivated, excited staff that have a sense of belonging.

become the best version of you

24th March 2017

With Wilbert R. Mutoko

Customers will pay you for the difference you present – difference in personality, difference in brand, difference in delivery, difference …

People will respect you for your difference – for who you are and who you become over time.

Therefore, I urge you to become the best version of you.

Learn from others. Read books and magazines, follow mentors, and go to school. But in the end, remember to be you and show your difference.

ASSUMPTIONS!

By Wilbert R. Mutoko
15 February 2017

They say assumption is the mother of frustration.

Have you ever observed that some people are frustrated and sad because they assume that so and so hates them and is the cause of their calamities. But have they verified? Are they sure that indeed so and so is causing the said problems?

On the other hand, some people are relaxed in life because they assume that things are just fine. For instance, a parent assumes that their teen is well behaved and so may not be involved in some bad things. Without cross-checking, such a parent could be relaxed today, but will panic tomorrow if things go wrong with the teen.

Some people are doing nothing about their current small problems because they assume that things will sort themselves.

Others are not taking steps for success in their school, work, business, marriage, finances, health etc. because they assume that the future will take care of itself.

Have you ever assumed things are bad because of abc without verifying? Or, have you ever assumed that things are okay, without verifying? Have you ever assumed that the future will sort itself?

I like Abraham Lincoln who said:

“Trust, but verify”

Stop leaving your life to chance. Stop assuming things. Take necessary steps to solve problems before they get out of hand. Also work on building your future and avoid assumptions.

Be blessed my friend

EXECUTIVES THAT CARE

With Wilbert R. Mutoko

19 January 2017

Executives who care train and empower their staff.

Are you a caring executive?

Are you a caring manager?

Do you want your company to grow in productivity, revenues and morale?

We are passionate about human development.

We believe that organizations succeed through People, Processes and Products.

Thus, people come first.

If people come first, that means, people development must come first in your organization before you think of profits.

TRUE SUCCESS

Reflections with Wilbert R. Mutoko

12 January 2017

The school system has its pros and cons.

We all know the pros of the school system, such as enlightening our minds, socializing etc.

One of the main cons of the school system is the fact that schools suggest that you are successful when you do better than others.

However, the reality is that success has nothing to do with what others have done, but how much you have completed the task that God created you for.

Until you fulfill your purpose, you are not yet successful.

Therefore, stop comparing your hair, car, house etc. to other people’s stuff.

Please identify and pursue your purpose.

As I write to you, I am doing part of what fulfills my purpose.

What are you doing daily to pursue your purpose?

All the best.

SUCCESS DEPENDS ON YOUR THOUGHTS

16 November 2016

With Coach Wilbert R. Mutoko

Success begins in your mind. Stop trying to push everything else. As long as your mind is not ready; nothing will work. Your mentality comes first. Every successful person will confess that they had to change their mentality before their physical life changed.

When you visualize your life five years from now, do you see a better you? Do you see a healthy you? Do you see a happy marriage? Do you see a successful business? What do you see with your imagination when your eyes are closed? Remember that your success begins in the mind.

Feed your mind with quality things that bring the change you desire. Then open your mouth and speak what you want to see. Do not speak what is around you now. Speak what you want. For example, if you have an abusive husband or wife, begin to see change. Talk about the sweet husband that you want. If you call your man a he goat; it means you are a she goat. If you curse your children, who will bless them? If you despise your boss or employees, who will honor them? Negative thinking and talking has never helped anyone.

You can change today.

See you at the top!

Remember I love you and God loves you more.

INTEGRITY. INTEGRITY. INTEGRITY

10 November 2016

Each time people ask me for the best 3 secrets for success, I tell them:

1) Integrity

2) Integrity

3) Integrity

According to Oxford Dictionary (online), Integrity refers to “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.”

According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary (online) Integrity refers to “firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values”

No matter how talented you are. No matter how gifted you are. No matter how educated you are. If you lack integrity. If you not faithful, not honest, not trustworthy, not dependable; your future is doomed.

I encourage you to maintain integrity in everything you do. It pays tomorrow and generations after you have left the world.
