Sundays with Hridaan – How the Camel got its Hump
SUNDAYS WITH HRIDAAN. Hridaan is Reading his favorite Book How the Camel got a Hump – originally written by Rudyard Kipling and Retold by Miles Kelly and now Read Along with Hridaan. The main idea here is to make the child readers understand the importance of hard work. Laziness will not lead us to success. In fact, by avoiding work we will end up piling lot more than we can do.
Hridaan understand the importance of hard work. Laziness will not lead us to success, he says. In fact, by avoiding work we will end up piling lot more than we can do. He has realised this as he clears his clutter of Books and toys spread across the room. He conveys his message that we should work hard.
Rudyard Kipling brings out the theme of laziness effectively in this book. And, Hridaan has chosen to follow the moral of the story.

Ickabog – J.K. Rowlings Gift to Fans
JK Rowling has surprised fans with the announcement of a brand new children’s book, which she is publishing in daily instalments on her website for free. It’s for “children on lockdown, or even those back at school during these strange, unsettling times”, she said.
The Ickabog is her first children’s story not to be linked to Harry Potter. She wrote it over a decade ago for her own children and has now dusted it off.
She had previously referred to it only as an unnamed “political fairytale”.
Chapters of The Ickabog are being published daily until 10 July on The Ickabog website . The book will be published in November when J.K. Rowling will be going to donate all royalties to help people who have been affected by the coronavirus. Full details will come later in the year.
The first Chapters which went online on Tuesday, introduced King Fred the Fearless, ruler of Cornucopia, and five-year-old Bert Beamish.
Calling all the budding Artists, J.K. Rowling is inviting fan kids to help illustrate The Ickabog for her. Every day when chapters of the story are uploaded, she will be making suggestions for what you might like to draw or paint to illustrate the story as it goes along. You should let your imagination run wild, she says! The artwork must be entered by a parent or guardian, via the publisher’s own competition website in their country as mentioned on site – the publishers are going to be judging all the competition entries. Currently, only UK and US countries are mentioned.
Readers also learned about the myth of a fearsome monster called The Ickabog, which is “said to eat children and sheep”.
The author said she originally intended to release the story after the seventh and final Harry Potter novel came out in 2007.
But she decided to take a break from publishing, and put the manuscript in her attic.
At the time of this news release, already Ten Chapters are put on the J K Rowling Ickabog site. and Illustrations submitted by Kids are featured too.
So, Keep Calm, experience #joysofreading and Stay Safe.

Little Singham and Fukrey for Kids Homequarantine
Discovery Kids India comes with the first priority to become “absolute undisputed leaders” in the factual entertainment space with Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.
As children are Homeschooling, Home Quarantine, many kids are awe inspired to watch the Television shows. Undoubtedly, Little Singham tops the List. Little Singham is now the most popular show for the channel. DK has completed over 100 Eepisodes and keeping the children entertained with its various story line with messages. Eight new tele-movies of Little Singham and Fukrey Boyzzz with provide fresh content amid lockdown for its young audience. A Team of more than 600 artists are working from home to meet the content deadline and help the kids keep engaged and entertained.
The channel, working closely with Reliance Animation, for Little Singham, and Paperboat Design Studios for Fukrey Boyzzz, engaged with more than 600 artists, animators, writers, spread across eight states, working from home to ensure consistent new premieres for kids.
During the April-June time period, Discovery Kids is in the process of releasing eight new tele-movies., including ‘Kaal Ka Badla’, the third franchise film for ‘Little Singham V/s Super villain Kaal’ saga. The action will continue with ‘Great Japan Adventure’, where Little Singham will be participating in world wonder games while in ‘Future Mein Satakli’, Little Singham will travel into the future to save the day. In ‘King Cobra Sabko Dasega’ patriotic Little Singham faces his arch nemesis King Cobra. The entertainment does not stop here, as Fukrey Boyzzz will continue to spread laughter with the wild adventure ‘Wild Wild Choocha’. In June, Discovery Kids has also lined up the first mega movie adventure of the Fukrey Boyzzz characters Hunny, Choocha, Lalli ‘Space Mein Fukrapanti’ where the trio will continue their shenanigans with aliens!
Uttam Singh, the channel Head said to the Press, “We have already completed 100 episodes and are planning more. Also on the cards are licensing and merchandising the brand,” adds Singh. Discovery Kids is now available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu besides English. Having got a firm foothold in Tamil and Telugu markets, it is now eyeing other markets in south India.
Launched in 2012, Discovery Kids struggled initially. As told to the Press DK Channel Head Uttam Singh informed, “While new channels take their own sweet time to gain traction, “nothing was scaling up for us. Then we realised the content we were offering was not really connecting with children. It was not something the kids wanted to come and watch again.”
The channel did market research across the country and found Tamil Nadu has great potential as people watch a lot of TV. It then came up with Little Singham, which clicked as the audience could easily relate to it thanks to the movie. That Singham the movie originated in Tamil Nadu also helped. The film, in which the super cop hero is played by Surya in Tamil and Ajay Devgn in Hindi, was a runaway hit with sequels too running to packed houses. Singham had a great recall value and the channel was able to tap it. “Little Singham has a brand connect throughout India,” says Singh.
Ace Director, Producer & Mentor of Little Singham, Rohit Shetty, also engaged with select Police officials from Mumbai Police along with their children at the launch press conference in 2018 of Little Singham. “Little Singham was conceptualized based on an insight that every child wants to be a superhero, wants to help others if the situation arises. Little Singham, the brave young super cop, defends the residents of his hometown Mirchi Nagar against all evil in this out and out entertaining animation series,” said, Rohit Shetty. “We are delighted to have the august company of select brave police officials from Mumbai Police along with their children as well as ICCW National Bravery Award recipients on the launch of Little Singham. We respect their valor and hope that all the children across the country will get inspired to do more good for the society at large for a better tomorrow.”
Little Singham was aired on Discovery Kids channel starting April 21, 2018. India’s youngest Supercop, with the intro line – ‘Police kiwardi, Sher ka Damm, Naam hai mera – Little Singham!’ is an apt representation of Discovery Kids’ brand purpose – Super Heropanti.
Woh hai khoonkhar, woh hai sabase bada shaitaan! Badle ki aag ko aur bhadkane aa gaya hai Kaal. Get ready to witness the biggest revenge as Kaal is back to destroy his enemy Little Singham and conquer Mirchinagar in the blockbuster movie “Kaal Ka Badla” on 23rd May, Saturday at 11.30 AM only on #DiscoveryKidsIndia

Rainbow of Hope
Lately, my Grandson Hridaan has penned many poems while #Homequarantine. Recently, it’s been a Shape poem ‘Rainbow’
Rathar a difficult process for a 7 year child to write and make a Shape poem using Paint Tool in Microsodt, Hridaan in his attempt first made a Rainbow and with color pencils wrote down his framed poem.
Hridaan chose to write on Rainbow. For a better view, he penned this poem in his Poetry Book and colored a Rainbow Sheet. Prior to this, his submission to #homeschool assignment had been on a Shape Poem Blank Worksheet where he drew, colored and wrote in Ranbow Shape.
He also got aware of the Initiative ‘Rainbow of Hope’ – In Canada and many places, people are posting “Rainbows of Hope” in their windows for people walking by to see. Hridaan also stood with his Rainbow Picture which has a message, “All will be fine – just Stay Safe, Stay Home. His rainbow offer encouragement, cheer neighbours, thank frontline workers and most of all, let everyone know that we are going to get through this pandemic.
You too can join Hridaan with a Rainbow and send Cheers with Rainbow for Hope. This too, shall pass, he says.
You can send your pic with Rainbow @kidsfreesoul@gmail.com or connect me on Instagram @ilaxip – on Facebook @http://www.facebook.com/swagatchildrenlibrary or http://www.facebook.com/kidsfreesouls and put your pic with Rainbow and Tag us.
