Alec Sousa is an award-winning journalist, writer, editor, and presenter. He’s worked in entertainment and lifestyle reporting, with an emphasis on independent music and human interest stories. His first love, though, has always been creative writing.

Working in both prose and comic books, his stories usually fall into the crime and horror genres, or sometimes even both. His debut novel, Whiskey Tango, the first story in the Bishop Brothers crime series, is available now.

An avid traveler, he has ventured to twenty-five countries. He’s backpacked through Europe, India, and Nepal; lived in Mexico; studied in the Middle East; and once spent a week stranded in Eastern Europe.

He currently resides in Utah with his wife, two sons, and their cats.

Recently I've been cruising through more of the Hap and Leonard series by Joe R. Landsdale. I love his brand of humor.

Other than that, I went down a path with Preston and Child, catching up with the Nora Kelly series; the New Mexico setting was great for summer. I've been in a mood for techno thrillers, generally, so I've been re-reading "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World" by Crichton.

If you want a good summer recommendation, "Joyland" by Stephen King is one I wish I could read again for the first time. And if you want a blockbuster feel, I love "Beast" by Peter Benchley. It might be crazy to recommend that instead of "Jaws" but even though the movie is an all-timer for me, I think "Beast" is a more entertaining read.(less)

At some point, it needed a repair, so he brought it to a shop. The shop keeper knew how valuable it was, so he stole it, giving my uncle a different violin when he came to retrieve it. As an immigrant, with limited English, my great uncle had no recourse, and the violin was lost. Violins made by the Stradivari family have sold for as much as $20 million in the last couple of years, so I think there's a seed here for a story about a stolen violin.(less)
