My great uncle was an immigrant to the United States, and he brought a Stradivarius violin with him. At some point, it needed a repair, so he brought it to a shop. The shop keeper knew how valuable it was, so he stole it, giving my uncle a different violin when he came to retrieve it. As an immigrant, with limited English, my great uncle had no recourse, and the violin was lost. Violins made by the Stradivari family have sold for as much as $20 million in the last couple of years, so I think there's a seed here for a story about a stolen violin.
