A new direction
Checking my emails Saturday morning, I had a lovely email from my editor, inviting me to be a part of a new miniseries within Harlequin Romance.
I'm super excited about it and want to share details, just need to make sure it's ok (and my lovely ed's away until next week so promise to let you know as soon as I can.)
What this means for me?
The Romance I was working on, COMING HOME (turning into a very emotional, angsty read) is now put on hold, to be completed after the new Romance.

On shelves now!
The time has arrived for my double release in the USA!
Both A TRIP WITH THE TYCOON and TWO WEEKS IN THE MAGNATE'S BED are out in the stores now, so indulge your whim for armchair travel and grab both books.

If a trip to India isn't exciting enough, a South Pacific cruise with a very sexy sailor should ramp things up a bit!
A TRIP WITH THE TYCOON is also out in the UK , with the new pale pink cover. And Chapter 3 of ONE INDIAN SUMMER is now live on eharlequin.
There endeth the plug.

Loving the underdog
It's a real Aussie trait to support the underdog in any competition. We do it all the time, from football to tennis to Australian Idol.
So imagine my delight last night when country and western singer Adam Brand won Dancing with the Stars.

I've loved him throughout the series. He's cheeky, funny, genuine and intensely likeable. While cute, he's a classic example of how a guy's personality can make him sexy and appealing.
I was thrilled. And blinking back tears when he said every step of the ...

Another Waldenbooks bestseller!
I've learned that TWO WEEKS IN THE MAGNATE'S BED has been on the Waldenbooks Top 10 Bestseller last for the last fortnight. Cool!

Here's a snippet:
He tapped the stack on his desk, beckoned her over. "Believe me, when you take a look at these you'll be thanking me for filling them out here. I've helped employees through the rigmarole before, we'll get it done in half the time."
Okay, so he was being helpful. Then why did it feel like the Big Bad Wolf lending Red a hand before gobbling her...

Interviews in India
Thanks for all your well wishes for the kids, both public and privately. Much appreciated. Keeping fingers crossed it's something simple.
With the Taj Mahal on the cover of my current release A TRIP WITH THE TYCOON in India, it's no great surprise I've been approached for several newspaper interviews this week.
Then I discovered something interesting.
You know about the new UK Romance covers?

Well, in India, they're still using the old hot pink ones (which I love!)
Wish I had a copy of that one...

Cinderella stories
When I write a book, I don't usually dwell on themes.
I have the idea, start writing the book, then realise 'ah...this is a marriage of convenience' story. Obvious, huh?
I've heard back from my lovely ed about THE DATING DILEMMA and it's scheduled for May 2010. We're in the process of brainstorming titles and I love all her suggestions.

One of them in particular grabbed me, 'Cinderella Bridesmaid and Her Best Man'.
I've told her I love it so fingers crossed that's the title!

When ignorance is bliss
Bad reviews.
We've all read them for other books and cringed.
We've all had them as authors and just ignored them.
Many prolific, fabulous authors have advised me their books that tanked in reviews usually topped sales, some even winning RITAs!
But bad reviews still suck.
Especially when you think it's the best book you've ever written and the book has received rave reviews from everyone else who's read it.
Interesting how one person's POV can be so different from everyone else.
I look for the positive

Cougars
Am I the only woman sick and tired of hearing the term 'cougar' bandied around?
Why can't older woman date/marry/fool around with younger guys? And not be labelled for it?
Annoyed me no end last night when I was flicking channels and saw snippets of a show on Cougars/Cradle Snatchers.
The only bright spot? I caught Hugh (in relation to Deborah Lee being a cougar.)

Where did the term originate anyway?
And how can we abolish it?
Good luck to Deborah Lee, Demi Moore, Bo Derek and co.
Maybe the labelle
