What Writing GLBTQ Literature Means to Me
Thanks for joining me on this, the first day of the Follow the Rainbow Book Reviews Blog Hop. This post will be up from today, August 24th to Sunday August 26th. Please leave a comment below to be entered into a drawing for an e-book of your choice from one my books- Almost Paradise, Taming the Lion Tamer or Marked by Grief (comes out September 8th) . Thanks for visiting me! Go here to return to the complete list of people participating in the hop.
If you're new to my blog, thanks for taking a minute to come visit me. If you're not, thanks for coming back.
I've been writing for years, ever since I was around twelve. Maybe even earlier. I decided to get serious about my love of writing in February of this year. In April I submitted my first story to Silver Publishing and it was accepted less than a week later. That was Almost Paradise and I'm so very glad I decided to go for this writing dream of mine and never gave up on it or let real life interfere too much with the characters talking in my head.
Writing GLBTQ stories for me means that I have a huge range of characters to work with and each person brings even more to the table with their own unique beauty and history. I write in nearly every genre and I do write with every pairing. I enjoy writing the characters that matter to me, no matter their gender or orientation. If a character has a story to tell, I will write it. It also gives me a way to make a difference for someone that may be having a bad day or think that no one is like them in the world. If I can make that person smile or give another person hope, then that makes all the difference to me. We all just want to matter to someone in this life.
I have met some amazing people in this journey and will continue to write about love in all forms for years to come. Thank you so much for joining me. Remember, comment below for a chance to win!

All or Nothing
I have new cover art to share! I love what Reese Dante is able to do. Ben, Micah and Eli will be coming to you on October 13. It's my first M/M/M and it was a lot of fun getting to know these three men.

New review of Almost Paradise!
4 Stars for Me!M/M Paranormal Romance gave Almost Paradise a great review. Here's a snippet...
"The story opens with Liam entering a boutique shop with his two hundred pound Neapolitan Mastiffs. He enters the shop to pick up a gift for his Alpha’s sister. This is his first meeting with Travis, the man who would change his life forever."
Check out the rest of this great interview here. Thanks Tabatha!

Taming the Lion Tamer
Taming the Lion Tamer is available through Silver Publishing in just a few short days. Here's the blurb-
Quinn's devotion to the big cats at his sanctuary doesn't leave much time for finding love, but when an animation company asks him to bring a lion down to model, meeting Charlie could be just the chance he needs.
The big cats in the sanctuary Quinn runs have long held his heart. However, an animation artist may offer them some competition for his affection.
Charlie can barely look at Quinn, much less talk to him. Quinn is confident, friendly, and too handsome for words. Charlie can't believe it when Quinn invites him up to the sanctuary for the weekend. He's enthralled and finds himself falling hard for the man his sister calls Sex God Quinn Fitzgerald.

Getting What You Want
Happy two year publishing anniversary to RJ Scott!
RJ had a great idea for her two year celebration- she invited authors to talk about what they'd learned in the time since getting published. I first submitted Almost Paradise to Silver Publishing in April. It's now August and this is what I've learned;
Always go for what you really want. Always. You and your publisher are a team and that team consists of a number of people that all work together but the main focus of any publisher is to put out great books. With that being said, they're there to work with you to make your book the best one it can be. But that doesn't mean that you should ever sacrifice part of the vision of your book for the sake of trying to agree with a publisher. I've been very lucky in that the people I've worked with at Silver Publishing have all been extremely helpful and accommodating when I've asked for something. It's about being nice and knowing how to ask for something. If you don't like the cover that's turning out, figure out why and let the artist know. If you like a particular artist, request them. If an editor is giving you suggestions that you think aren't right for the overall story, let them know. In the end its about putting out a great book and giving you, as the author, a good experience that way when you write your next bestseller you'll bring it to them instead of submitting it to another publisher.
Another hugely important thing to remember is that friends matter, especially in the writing community. You need to guest blog, host other authors, share links, do anthologies, etc. Promote them and they will promote you. It's about making sure that your books and your name get across to a wider audience. Take advantage of every potential marketing tool out there. It will pay off in the end for you with more readers and more book sales. Network in every way that you can.
And in the end just be nice to other people. You don't have to agree with reviewers, you don't even have to read the reviews, just thank them for taking the time to read your book and move on. Being nice goes a long way in the writing world and it all matters.
Contest!
Alright, so you made it through my spiel. Thank you. Now for the fun stuff. Leave a comment and be entered into a drawing for your choice of an e-book copy of Almost Paradise, Taming the Lion Tamer, or Marked by Grief. This contest closes at midnight (US Mountain Time) and the winner will be announced Monday morning. Thanks for stopping by!
