Some cute pictures of my dog and Blue Tongue Skink
My dog, Jaina, is a Boston Lab (boston terrier x lab) and she's pretty much my daughter. To be close to me you've honestly got to be great with my dog. Here's some pictures of my little girl.
And we also have a Blue Tongue Skink named Cal. So here's some pictures!
Sorry the last one is so blurry. And that's my Jaina again! They're actually really good together (completely supervised of course).

Bringing Kit to Life, Progress!
The title is actually starting to grow on me and it's making sense the more I write it. Kit has honestly been a walking ghost of who he used to be since the accident that killed his brother and is slowly starting to come back to life with Jason's help. I made progress on it today. Hopefully I will have it done tomorrow morning if not this afternoon. I know I said that it would be done by now but the HTML battle yesterday ate up a huge amount of time that I wasn't planning to spend on it. But that's alright because I'm right where I need to be for right now. I'm not sure what I'll be working on after this story has been edited and turned in. I have until July 21st for my submission to the It's Complicated call to go in. That's not a ton of time, especially since it's just thoughts in my head and maybe a few paragraphs. But I'm honestly not too worried about it. I may do some editing on the YA novel I want to submit to Silver once they open their doors for YA submissions. I'd love to get it edited and then have a few people that actually read YA look at it before I submit it to make sure it even appeals to that audience. There's also the question of, since it is nearly 100,000 words, do I want to submit it as novel length and leave it as is or should I make two books out of it? I'll take a look at it after Bringing Kit to Life is completed.

Die HTML! Die!
So instead of writing today I was playing with HTML on this blog. Sucky, I know. But I'm pretty proud of myself for what I was able to accomplish. Up top at the pages you'll notice that Free Reads is now gone. If you go to Bookshelf though you'll see the product of all of my hard work- two tables! Free Reads is now there. Which is what I was trying to get at. But more than that, I suck at HTML. I couldn't tell you how I made it other than I googled it and then spent enough time changing stuff, previewing, then changing it back to sort of make that. But then I changed the actual title of the webpage so the link doesn't go to Bookshelf so if anyone knows how to fix that please let me know.

Silver Shorts 2012, Week 21 Available!
This free read is available for pre-order now! Yay! Here's the link to go order your copy. The Silver Shorts are a great way to check out new authors to see if you like them. It's great exposure for the authors that take advantage of the opportunity (like me :) and it's fun to see what people were able to come up with after reading those four little prompts. And I like the challenge that writing prompts provide. So go on and go order your copy. It's free!

Bringing Kit to Life- inspiration images
You set me on fire by vishstudio
In my mind Kit has always looked something like this. Lighter hair, blue eyes. His brother really was the typical "All American Boy Next Door" kind of ideal until the accident that took his life. Kit calls it murder but it really was just a simple accident that resulted from one man's stupid decisions. I like this picture over an earlier one that I had chosen because the model seems angry and defiant here. Which he has been every day for the last six months, since he buried his brother Bear.

And then there's Jason. Kit has been in love with him since he was a young teenager and always figured that he'd have time to tell his brother's best friend how he felt. But that time never came and now he hasn't seen him since Bear's funeral. Jason didn't have the best childhood and Bear unofficially adopted him as his brother, completing their little circle when Kit was just nine years old. The three were inseparable until the older boys graduated high school, Jason going to work for a tattoo artist and Bear leaving for college on a full scholarship. Still, Kit thought that he had time to tell Jason that he loved him, to tell Bear that he was gay, and to hope that they both still accepted him for the kid brother he was. This model works well for Jason, though he lacks the tattoos that cover Jason's body. But his onyx eyes and "Yeah, so?" expression work well for the guy that could care less what anyone else thinks about him. He knows he's sexy and has had enough partners tell him so for it to not really matter anymore. Except when Kit says it. That damn near tears him apart to hear appreciation from the man he's loved but never knew how to approach. I mean, how do you tell your best friend that you want to dominate his little brother? How do you tell that little brother that you want him, but only on your terms and you don't know if he's strong enough to accept that?
I hope that you can see why I love these characters so much. It's going to be sad to see them go. I may have to visit them again later. Maybe when Travis (from Almost Paradise) gets his tattoo he'll go to Jason's shop. We'll have to wait and see.

Almost Paradise, final edits
Almost Paradise has entered the final editing stages. There are only a few minor things to fix really and I did them in about twenty minutes so that's great. Pretty soon I will have my author copies and my ARCs. I'm thinking about doing a contest for a free copy the day it gets released. It'll be something about leaving a comment on that post. Though I'm not sure if I want to make it just about replying to the post which will get more comments or if I want to make it more fun like telling me your favorite ________. Something other than color, maybe favorite cupcake flavor. Though I doubt it since cupcakes have nothing to do with Almost Paradise. I'm not sure what I'll do. I want to mention in it my blog hop next week though on the 25th so I'll have to come up with something before then.
