Sunday Snippet!

Today's Sunday snippet comes from my upcoming Paranormal Romance Blood Witch. The cover reveal is March 18 and the will be out sometime this spring! She grabbed Persuasion by Jane Austen off the bedside table, and after bunching her pillows around her, she started reading. Lately her only comfort was Miss. Austen. Persuasion was her favorite below Pride & Prejudice. Before her new life had started, she felt her life was exactly like Anne Elliot. She was no beauty and her family cared little for her. Except to help pay bills, they really had no use for her. She had always been the odd one out. So when Rich had introduced her to the Opposite Side she thought she had stepped into a fairy tale.
She was getting to the part when Anne finally left to Bath to be with her father and older sister
when her phone rang. Irritated she looked at the number, and noticed it didn’t have an ID. “Hello?”
“Leslie,” whispered a small-frightened voice. “Here in Snelling, is rogue werebear. Hurry, help.”
It sounded like a troll. “Where are you?” She jotted down what he hissed to her quickly before hanging up.
She didn’t like to drive much, she liked being in the passenger seat, but driving made her nervous. The whole reason she learned is that she could stop relying on people to take her places. And right at the moment she was angry with Collin and Patrick. She arrived in Snelling thirty-five minutes later, as the sun started to rise. She drove down the quiet main street passing the main store and the once Freezie burger place. Her GPS told her to take a right, and so she did. When she finally stopped she pulled up beside the river. Frowning, she checked her gun before getting out of the car. Magic is good, but sometimes it still doesn’t stop certain things. Taking a deep breath, she got out of the car and started walking to the edge.
She looked around for a bit and finally found a trail down to the river. The trail turned rough and sharp sloping down. She gave out a small prayer to the Goddess and started down. Her feet slid out under her once, but she end up catching herself. The fact that she made it to the bottom alive seemed a huge miracle for her. She paused looking at the slow moving water. The river was high, but not as high as it would be in a month when the snow really started to melt. Other then the wet sounds of the river the night seemed eerily quit.
She closed her eyes, and sniffed the air. Very unhuman, she never did it with the others around. She smelt human sweat, river water, dead leaves, new growth, mud, a decomposing animal, and blood. She turned towards the smell, and started walking. She finally came to a small dilapidated shack after about half a mile. The brush and undergrowth seemed heavier here, and she had to cut through it quietly knowing she was probably doing a bad job at it. Rustling to her left made her pull her gun. It got closer as she undid the safety. She smelt and felt power, and then those lively greenish gold eyes blinked at her over the muzzle of her gun.

Outline, yay or nay...

I guess I outline lol in my own way. I do it at work, out and about or just sitting around. I have my book bible with me most of the time and when I can't bring it out I use scrap paper. Advice for you do NOT use scrap paper unless you enter it down ASAP. I end up waiting and have to sort out the ideas. And I have tons of ideas just for one scene. So yay I outline. How do you outline? Or do you?

Brainstorming...

After I come up with the idea and before I sit down to create the book bible for the story I plan on working on I have to brainstorm. Brainstorming can make it or break it for me. I can come up with a million ideas, but if I can't work out a good enough plot for it I will put it on the back burner. I need the main characters as I brainstorm because I need to know who I am working with. I want a bad guy or gal or group of them of course, not all stories have the big baddies but I like to have one standing by. I think of many different what ifs and think of what would happen if I have the characters pull it off. Notes after notes I can work my way to anger and sometimes confusion. I have frustrated myself so much because the idea was awesome I just keep tweaking the plot until it gets away from the original idea. When I do that I do put it down and come back to it later on with a fresh perspective. That is about it. I then go into my book bible.

How and what do you do to brainstorm....

Gabriel's Light Blog Tour!

Thanks for stopping in today! Dakota and her Muse has something special planned for us today on her first stop on her blog tour for Gabriel's Light, Book 7 of the Doms of Chicago! Keep reading because you can not only win a chance to win an e-copy of the book but you can get your name in for a special gift.

*Sticking head into the room and looks around* Hmmm, this has to be the place. *checks the slip of paper again* Well at least I hope it is. Dakota had better not have given me the wrong address again. I know the woman has a horrible sense of direction but…  It’s not my fault she volunteered to chaperon a bunch of kids to Florida and left me with a stack of directions…. *stretches arms wide* …this high.  Wait you don’t have a clue to who I am, do you?  How rude of me.  I’m Livvy – Dakota Trace’s wonderful whip wielding muse.  *leans closer* And don’t believe a word she says about me. I’m absolutely mare-velous!  Who else do you know who can come up with the troublesome characters you find in her books, wears corsets and leggings with style, puts up with her crazy schedule, and can consume massive amounts of chocolate without gaining an ounce?  I’d say that makes up for my ADD very nicely, don’t you?
Speaking of which, she will have my hide if I forget to thank our wonderful host.  So thank you, Miss Ellie for allowing me to stop by today to dominate…I mean borrow your blog.  *Fingers crop at hip* So shall we get the show on the road then?  I’m here to spill the beans about her new release in her stead. Of course, I told her that she needed to let Gabriel and Zhenya do the honors, but for some reason she let them take off to Greece of all places. *holds up hand* Don’t ask me what they are doing – cause I’m not sure. Something about settling an estate… *shudders* I hate paperwork which is why I’m so good as a Muse.  I can give my slave…I mean Dakota ideas all day long and she’s the one stuck figuring out how to put them to paper.
So I will have to say that reclusive Gabriel is probably one of my favorites from Dakota’s Doms of Chicago Series, but…” *winks* …don’t tell Nisey that if she arrives here as promised.  She’ll get hostile, she thinks her Caelan is the best Dom in the series.  Partial wench.   As I was saying Gabriel is one of my favorites – something about that wounded soul thing which really gets my engine going. *shivers*  I first met him in Nisey’s Awakening and just knew I wouldn’t be seeing the last of him. *looks innocent*  I mean it wasn’t my idea to kill of his first sub Sara…*pauses* ….well maybe it was, but still I knew Zhenya would be perfect for him and give him what Sara couldn’t.  Why? Because she’s been hurt as much as him, and unlike Mr Calm, Cool and Collected Dom, she’s pissed enough to take the bull by the horns and take what she wants.
But rather than tell you all the reasons why she’s better than Sara - Dakota would kill me if I gave away my plot after she worked so hard on it, I’m going to get to the fun stuff.  The giveaway!  *pauses* What you were expecting to read a blurb and see some sexy cover art?  *sighs*  How about I paraphrase it?  Don’t have time for all that nonsense.
In a nutshell.  Gabriel has lost Sara, Zhenya has lost her husband. She comes to the States expecting said asshole’s baby. Don’t ask…just take my word for it. He’s an ass.  She makes a connection with Gabriel despite being pregnant, and just when things look up, her dead hubby’s family finds her and wants  sweet Sophie. Gabriel isn’t going to let that happen, so all hell breaks loose.  So does that work?  No.  Well click on the link below for the ‘official blurb’  It has buy links and all that crap. Some excerpt too.
Official LINK
*taps foot* Can I get on to the giveaway, now?
I thought so. So for this first stop since it is the release of Dakota’s book, we’re gonna give away an e-copy of Gabriel’s Light to a lucky commenter.  So just post your email addy down below, so Dakota can stop later between chasing kids and Mickey Mouse to pick a winner.
That’s not all though. I’m generous lady, so don’t forget every comment on the tour enters you a chance to win the Grand Prize – the yummy basket pictured below.  *eyes it hungrily* I told Dakota I wanted it but she insists the readers will enjoy it more than I would. *pouts* I still think she’s wrong, but I have to let her think she’s the boss once in awhile. So please enter, and I’ll see you all tomorrow when I head to the next stop. *fishes out slip of paper between her breasts*  What…this outfit doesn’t come with pockets.  *looks down at rumpled piece of paper*  Ah yes, looks like I’ll be at KharismaRhayne’s tomorrow. *eyes light up* Ooooo I wonder if that sexy Xander will be around? *mutters to self*  He’d better be... *looks up*  Well what you waiting for? Go ahead and enter.
*Moves to leave* Oh wait, forgot – this is for Ellie.  *pulling out a huge chocolate bar*  Dakota says to tell you thanks for putting up with me. Hopefully this chocolate will make it all better.  (BTW She decided she wanted the chocolate bar for herself and ran away with it.)

A new review for The Unicorn and The Serpent!

[image error] Ryan Snyder's review

[really a 3.5 (:]

I loved the world that was built in this novel. Morgan's kingdom is very well set up and described.

Princess Morgan, herself, was extremely easy to like. She was no simpering female and could keep up with all her father's knights- having been raised with them. She is such a tom boy!

Agnus is one of my favorite characters! She is a crazy old bat, but she is loving and hilarious!!

*sigh* There is this one part of the story that I knew was coming. I liked a certain character and a twist totally threw me for a loop. But It created a conspiracy, which I will admit is necessary for a novel of this sort.

I needed to know more about a certain character. He just seemed to come out of no where! But he grew on me. (:

Another character (sorry. no names!!) He really grew on me and then completely changed into someone un-likeable. I was all...Nooooooo!

I love love loved the camaraderie between all the knights and Morgan. They are all like bickering brothers with their younger sister. It was one of my favorite parts of the book!

All in all, this was a cute kingdom conspiracy with a sweet romance. It had some funny characters (Agnus. *ahem*), some obnoxious characters, a bad ass tomboy princess, brave knights, and some fantasy elements(

Blood Witch Book 1 of The Opposite Side

My fourth book which is an erotic paranormal romance will be out hopefully before this summer. Here is a blurb for you:
Welcome to the Opposite Side where monsters really do roam the night, but The Supervisors make sure that the monsters don’t get noticed by the normal humans. Leslie is a Supervisor, and a blood witch, one of four in California. Blood witches are said to have powers that rival gods, that’s why they were almost hunted to extinction. Nathan is king of the local werebear clan, and he has plans for the future of his pack but also has his eyes set on Leslie. Because Leslie is not just a Blood Witch, and together they are a power to reckon with. But nothing is as it seems in the Opposite Side, and Leslie’s already different world is going to be shaken as a new case starts a chain of events that can lead to a civil war.

More on this later on this month I hope.
