The Clue of the Unclaimed Legacy

The blurb above doesn’t say a lot about it, but Unclaimed Legacy features my heroes Lewis and Clark. I’ve always been fascinated by them, partly because I knew the explorers spent the winter of 1803 at Hartford, Illinois, near where I grew up in Woodburn.

They chose that site for the camp they called Camp River Dubois, because it was near the mouth of the Missouri River, which they would ascend the next spring. The captains spent the winter laying in supplies and training their men. I decided it would be fun to let Abby “time-surf” back to see Camp River Dubois. . .

Q. Please tell the readers who are the main characters?

The main characters are Feranmi Adewunmi and Alex Montgomery

Q. What or is there conflict in the story?

Feranmi is a young Nigerian woman who lives in the US. She is independent and has done well for herself. Her biggest problem according to her parents is that she is still unmarried at almost thirty.

Feranmi believes in waiting on God for a man, however when faced with the threat of an impending arranged marriage. She somehow forgets to lean on God for guidance but decides to weave a tale of deception.

And Alex is her only option.

Q. Which characters in “are you most like?

Q. Take us inside “your book” What are two major events

taking place?

The first major event is Feranmi’s parents visit to the US. I have gotten a lot of hilarious and positive feedback on this part of the book.

The next major event is the reveal of Alex’s secret. One bestselling author referred to it as my “black moment”

Q. Are your characters from the portrayal of real people?

Yes, I do believe it’s about a lot of people .The issue of singleness amongst ladies of a certain age is huge especially in my culture. It is almost a crime for a lady of a certain age not to be married. People say things like she is ‘ripe’ for marriage. Then there is the expectation of who she should marry, where he should come from the list goes on.

I received an ARC for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

When I decided to join the tour, I had never read any of Melissa’s books. This was a great experience reading her work. The characters are believable with true life issues. The story evolves as each character is challenged with many of life challenges and decisions. If you are a fan of Romance and you’ve never read any of Melissa books, you’ll probably love this one.

A great read with enjoyable characters and storyline.

I also began to compare these biblical discoveries with modern day beauty treatments and the use of cosmetics.

I saw the need to bring the Book of Esther to life and to show women the purpose of God-Inspired Beauty Secrets. I also wanted to share with women what I discovered about God and myself during my yearlong sabbatical and how setting aside some time to be alone with God whether it is for one month, three months or 12 months can be a very invigorating experience. As an author and Special Media Specialist it is extremely important to use Social Media to spread the word about your book(s). Facebook alone boasts billions of users with Twitter and Instagram following closely behind. Over 70% of Pinterest users are female so if you’re writing a book for women then that’s where you need to be. Whether you have a Fan Page dedicated to your book or one that focuses on you as an author, you need to make yourself visible on these outlets. Did I mention that there’s no cost to utilize Social Media sites? All of these sites are FREE*, yes FREE! It will take a bit of creativity on your part to make the most of each site but with a little time and effort you can and will see great success from using Social Media to promote your book.

Here are 10 tips to promote your book using Social Media:

1. Use hashtags on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram to create a buzz about your book and to group all of your posts together. Hashtags also help you to connect with other people who have an interest in the same topic.

2. Instagram is perfect for capturing the entire process of your writing journey. Take pictures at every stage of your new book from start to finish and keep your supporters on the edge of their seats until they’re holding their very own copy.

3. Have a Twitter party during a documentary, reality show or tv drama that’s closely connected to the content of your book. Create a relevant hashtag so everyone can get in on the conversation during the party.

4. Tweet excerpts from your book. Choose a certain day or time to post excerpts and be consistent!

5. Create a storyboard using Pinterest. Each board can be representative of each of your book’s chapters, characters, plot, etc.

6. Host a contest on Facebook asking readers to finish a chapter or the ending of your book. Reward the winner with a complimentary copy of the book, a mention in the acknowledgements or character named in their honor in your next book.

7. Upload a book trailer to your Youtube channel and cross-promote it on each of your Social Media sites.

Don’t totally abandon the sites that have less activity but check in every so often to offer thanks for support or to provide a few updates. Mix it up with each passing month so that each of your sites will be in rotation to get some TLC!
