How to Be the BEST VERSION of Yourself – 1 Simple Rule

Hello Spiritual Warrior, today we are discussing how to be the BEST VERSION of yourself. I'll give you 1 simple rule in this video to get closer to your best version.

Excuses, excuses! We have a million of them; a million reasons why we haven’t started that project, why we haven’t made that commitment, why we’re waiting for the right moment. We stall our dreams waiting for the perfect moment… but what is perfection, really?

Perfection is progress. Perfection is evolution! Perfection is us embracing the wholeness of life. Many of us carry a heavy burden to be perfect in all aspects of our lives; to always do the right thing, make the right choice, use the right words, move in the right direction. But, perfection really isn’t the ultimate goal. The goal is showing up a little bit better than you did yesterday, slowly building up the best versions of yourself.

Sometimes when we focus too much on the end result, we lose sight of the magnificent process of growth… of progress… continually moving in the direction of our goals – in the direction of the best version of yourself – while staying mindful of the steps we’re taking to get there.

best version of yourselfBut here we are, with the tools of meditation, mindfulness, community support, I have given you these tools for FREE because you have been a loyal member of this community. There are no more excuses! You can make the decision to move forward today! Don’t like the imaginary ideal of “perfection” hold you back from taking the first step. This is a process of evolution, not the process of trying to reach the illusory “perfect” self. 

Our lives are full of ups and downs, happiness and sadness, fear and courage. This process of back and forth, not just mindlessly living it but actually embracing it, THIS IS PROGRESS! This is how you take one step, day by day, to get a little closer to the best version of yourself.

But it can be overwhelming, however, to embrace life when you’re struggling. That’s when you lean on your meditation practice to get you through, give you clarity, and help you move through difficult times with greater ease and grace.

So, this week let’s embrace the good with the bad and focus on progress, evolution and leaning in the direction of our dreams!!! And don’t be so hard on yourself as you move through this process!

My Morning Meditation Practice (Set Powerful Intentions for the Day!) – 25 Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, today we'll dive into my morning meditation practice. So, let's settle in, breathe, ask sacred questions, and set powerful intentions for the rest of the day.

Many of us have specific rituals that we do each morning. Some of us practice yoga, pray, or meditate. Others ask reflective questions or repeat affirmations, and others do heart-opening exercises. These ritualized behaviors are essential to beginning our day on the right path, subtly setting the course that our day will follow.

Starting your day with a meditation ritual provides the perfect environment for your intentions to embed and for your day to unfold with greater grace and greater ease.

When we set an intention and go into meditation, it’s like planting a seed and then going into the garden to cultivate it with quietude. Now we have a seed pregnant with possibilities, a seed with a built-in manifestation being planted into a vibrationally fertile environment that will help it thrive.

Ritual + Meaning = Transformation

In this 25 minute meditation, my morning meditation practice, we will honor the power of starting the day with ritual and introspection.  You will create a powerful trajectory for you to move through your day with calm, clarity, decisiveness, and the strength to make new bold, fearless choices.

From this moment forward, your day will be filled with intention, grace and ease.

Inspiration for cultivating your own daily practice

I’ll go through my personal morning meditation practice in this meditation, but you can also formulate your own morning ritual using these five transformational daily practices. These can be used individually or in combination.

Cultivating a morning meditation practice offers you an opportunity to cultivate attention, intention, and action for the rest of your day. These are powerful tools for personal transformation: 

Ask Sacred Questions – who am I? what does my heart truly long for? what am I grateful for? Plant Intentions – this could be a single word affirmation, a state of mind, or an action you would like to take or see unfold in your life. Repeat a Sacred Affirmation or Mantra – This mantra or affirmation can be repeated in Sanskrit or your native language. It can relate to your intention, or it can be the mantra you always use like your Nakshatra birth star mantra.Meditate  – Do the actual meditation – which means sitting in stillness and silence anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Begin Your Day – There is no running to or from meditation, so take your time to wrap up your morning meditation practice. As much intention you put into beginning the ritual, honor the end just as much. More On Asking Sacred Questions…

morning meditationWe begin our day by finding a comfortable place to sit or lie down. We settle in, place our hands on our hearts, and begin the practice of asking the Sacred Questions.

Simply ask the first question over and over for about a minute, and let answers innocently flow. Don’t force! Then do the same with the second question, then the third. Spend up to a minute with each question. When you have completed the process, take a long, slow, deep breath in, and release all the questions and any answers that arose.

Then invite an intention into your mind. Get clear on it, invite it into your heart, and plant that intention like a seed in the fertile soil of your heart. Then breathe in deeply, and let it go as you exhale. Leave it up to the Universe to work out all the details.

And Planting Intentions… 

Then invite your intention into your awareness. Allow it to crystallize. And when you are clear on it, invite it into your heart. Begin a gentle, slow process of deep breathing as you see it clearly move into your heart; and keep breathing deeply. Envision your endgame, your goal, your target.

Notice how manifesting your intention makes you feel . . . in your body, in your mind, in your heart. Slowly witness the progressive steps you will need to take to bring you to that moment – the behaviors, conversations, actions you need to do.

What does it look like when it has manifested?

How does it feel when it has actually become a reality?

Visualize the whole process unfolding from the very first seed until its fulfillment. Own it all. And then plant your intention like a seed deep in your heart. Take a deep breath in to anchor it . . . and let it go. You don’t need to think about it anymore.

From this moment forward, every time you connect with the stillness and silence inside your heart, you will strengthen the intention and activate its birth in your life. And begin to repeat your mantra – birth star, Sanskrit mantra, English mantra, or something else. 

Morning Meditation Practice 

Now that you’ve set the table by asking your Sacred Questions, letting answers flow, inviting your intention into your heart, and releasing it out into the Universe, it’s time to meditate.

Whenever we plant a seed, we first burrow it in fertile soil. Then we water it, and we trust that the seed will grow. When we meditate, we take a “time-in”. We allow the outside world to simply be. We release our grip on how we believe everything is supposed to unfold. We till the soil that will hold our seed and make it as fertile as possible.

Meditation is our incubation period, where we quiet our body and mind. Once we’ve planted our intention and released it, we trust the Master Plan of the Universe to work out the details.

Early morning practice cultivates the soil of our existence so that our intentions will have a garden to flourish. So, let’s go through that process right now with this week’s morning meditation practice.

How to Be More Mindful? Ask This 1 Question Right NOW

Hello Spiritual Warrior, do you want to know how to be more mindful? Start by asking this 1 question right now.

The moment one gives close attention to any thing, even a blade of grass,  it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself. — Henry Miller

Whatever you focus your attention on becomes “the object of your attention.” This is the first realization in learning how to be more mindful.

This could be as simple as staring at a TV screen, reading this blog, or watching the video above. And it can include broad categories such as family issues, health concerns, matters of the heart, business challenges, financial issues, even our spiritual practice. In fact, this is the key to mindfulness and meditation – where your attention goes, energy flows!

Where is your focus, right now? Are you fully present with this blog, or are you thinking about your to-do list, work worries, health concerns, or something else? 

In every style of meditation, there is an object of your attention too. We watch our breath, gaze at something, ask a question, or silently repeat a sacred word, mantra, or vibration. When we notice we’ve drifted away to thoughts, sounds, or physical sensations, we simply drift back.

Plainly put, how to be more mindful is about cultivating your ability to gently drift back to that object of our attention regardless of the waterfall of thoughts that may cascade down upon you. And as we continuously cultivate this skill, ultimately, our full attention more easily arrives at the present moment and in that moment, all other activity vanishes. In the present moment, you have real choice making abilities – you can decide how you want to show up. 

Following your breath in and out is an easy “object of your attention.” As is asking sacred questions as a form of pattern interrupt as described in this week’s video. 

how to be more mindful

The key to attention rests in the here and now. Because in the present moment, everything is fresh, rich, larger than life, and most important — actionable. The past contains only memories, and there’s nothing we can really do about them. We can’t go back in time and change the words we said or the action we took. 

The past is carved in stone, and that’s why beating ourselves up over what’s already been done makes no sense. We can’t unring the bell. But we can take steps in the present moment to carve new stones and make a better choice! This is why knowing how to be more mindful is so crucial to your growth! 

The future has yet to unfold. It’s a projection, a dream that may or may not come true. And that’s why fearing what we believe might happen is also a waste of time and energy. Most often, what we fear is usually far worse than what actually unfolds.

So we have a choice in every given moment about where we want to place our attention: the past, the present, or the future.

And if we are looking to shift our life from where we are to where we’d like to be, it seems like folly to be anywhere but in that sacred, precious present moment since that is only moment we can actually influence.

So here you are in this sacred, precious, present moment… what will you do with it?

Manifest More Trust in Your Life Now – 15 Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, today we'll explore how to manifest more trust into your life. why do you fear? Because you do not TRUST.

What happens when we manifest more trust? Well, in every moment that you trust, you are inviting the magnificence of the Universe into your life with pure surrender and total confidence, courage, and brilliance. Yet, when you waver, you mistakenly believe that you know better than the Universe and try to (sometimes frantically) exert your control over the uncontrollable… this is not sustainable. 

When you stop trusting, you suddenly lose confidence in your decision – you question if you made the right choice, you doubt yourself, you second guess every step. You become constricted and turn your back on divine support.

This is How You Can Practice Loving What Is Now – Note on the 3 Gunas

Hello Spiritual Warrior, today we'll explore loving what is. Can you awaken acceptance and have more love for what is?

We’re always our harshest critic. We know that we have made choices and decisions throughout our life that we may regret or torture ourselves about. But they are carved in stone, and we must accept them, forgive ourselves, and make better choices in the future.

lovingA lot of self acceptance and loving what is really comes down to awareness. The more aware we are – of ourselves, of our words, of our actions, of their impact, of other’s emotions, of our surroundings – the more conscious we are.

When we are more conscious, we are more aligned with the universe… allowing us to be more loving more easily, experience deeper meaning in the moment, and live lives of greater balance and happiness.

In the ancient Vedic traditions, everything in our physical world is made up of a balance of three forces known in Sanskrit as gunas.

The gunas are tendencies…potential in a given moment. The three gunas are sattva, rajas, & tamas. Just like the doshas in Ayurveda, each of the three gunas is ever present simultaneously in every particle of creation, but variations in their amounts and the balance they manifest in a given moment influence our surroundings, our mind, our body, and our soul.

So what are the gunas?

Sattva can be translated to mean clarity, purity, balance, harmony, order, and lucidity. It’s light and luminous – awakening and developing our soul.
Rajas can be translated to mean change, movement, passion, turbulence, and dynamism. It’s the tendency toward attraction, repulsion, fear, and desire. It’s the principle of energy.
Tamas can be translated to mean darkness, heaviness, constriction, negativity, and dullness. It’s the force that leads us to attachment, stagnation, and inertia – even destruction or devolution.

Everything within us and outside of us can be defined as either sattvic – filled with lightness; rajasic – filled with energy; or tamasic – containing heaviness. In each moment, our surroundings, our emotions, the foods we ingest, our feelings, and every internal & external interaction is expressing a guna.

Use the three gunas as a tool of awareness & balance to help you awaken your most genuine self; a tool of balance to ease your physiology and your emotional state back to center; and a tool of growth to help you die to the past and evolve to your best expression.

Real compassion starts with self-compassion, which leads to self-acceptance. And all love begins with self love. Keep loving what is.

Self Healing & Self Love – 20 Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, in this 20 minute meditation, you will enhance the self healing process and cultivate more self love.

From day to day, month to month and year to year we encounter new challenges, triumphs, surprises, aha! moments, celebrations and heartaches.

It’s the wild roller coaster of life!!! It’s ever changing, unfolding, uncertain, and even adversarial.

But, adversity can be the seed of REbirth. Pain can be a powerful motivator. Sometimes in the wake of a tragedy, trauma, or unexpected disappointment, we can dig deep—deeper than we ever imagined—and step beyond our preconceived limitations. Our capacity to rebound after we’ve been dealt a blow is called resilience. And those who embrace their sacred powers and practice healing modalities seem to recover more quickly.

Healing modalities such as meditation allows for the space for great self healing. We’ll explore more of that in today’s guided meditation. 

self healingAs each day comes to a close, we may find ourselves seeking self healing – healing of our minds, healing of our bodies, healing of our hearts, and healing of our souls.

Sometimes, we can benefit from outside help such as when we are diagnosed – and need the help of a medical professional, or when we find ourselves in grief and can benefit from a therapist. But there’s additional support that can come from within – deep within – from your most genuine self – which is pure and perfect and whole and enlightened. Which knows no separation from source – only knows love, compassion, forgiveness, and light – it only knows wholeness and sees all things as ONE.

Throughout our lives we have distanced ourselves from the whole by resisting, protecting, pushing back, guarding, defending, preventing, and stopping.

But we could – just as easily – allow, receive, and accept that this moment and all our moments are perfect exactly as they are. This is part of the self healing practice. If we are willing to do this, then we can move to a mindset of The Healer where the universe is supporting us not attacking us. 

If we can connect and know at our core level that we are indeed worthy, and brilliant, and intuitive, and deserving of love,  happiness, and healing, then we can connect to the part of us that can soothe, nourish, and heal our wounds – our emotional ones and then our physical ones. Self healing is possible!

You Are SO Worthy, Stop Second Guessing Yourself! – 5 Minute Motivation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, this week we're exploring worthiness. Do you feel worthy? Let me remind you just how pure, whole and perfect you really are.

There are three basic directions that love can flow and three basic questions we can ask in every moment to determine how worthy we feel or how awakened our heart is, they are:

Love of self—“In this moment, do I genuinely love myself?”Love of another—“In this moment, how am I expressing my love to someone else?”The ability to receive love—“In this moment, am I worthy of love?”

The Sacred Power of Your Awakened Heart holds the key to your self-worth, you awakened heart allows you to not only express love to another, but it also allows you to celebrate yourself. Your ability to see yourself in the hearts of others and hold another person’s heart in your own all begins with a solid foundation of how worthy you feel of receiving your own love.

When your heart is truly “awakened,” it is the most powerful, expansive, and transformational aspect of your being. In this divine state of bodhicitta, you can effortlessly give and receive love, flow gratitude, step beyond fear, awaken your purpose, and experience joy in each moment… feeling completely worthy to receive it ALL! 

worthyWhen storm clouds seem to overtake your emotions; when you find yourself feeling shame, jealousy, self-doubt, inadequacy, or loneliness; when the shield of pride you constantly hold up to protect yourself has become too heavy, your awakened heart is there to comfort and heal you.

Those moments of anger, arrogance, judgment, and condescension, where you brandish a sword of self-importance to demonstrate your strength, power, or confidence, your awakened heart knows this is simply a defensive ploy to attack the world and distract yourself from the tender hurt oozing from the center of your heart-puddle.

Your awakened heart knows all, sees all, feels all, and is capable of healing all the pain and suffering that rests inside you. And in its boundless wisdom, your awakened heart can deliver an ever-expanding wholeness to your every thought, word, and action.

The pathway to this higher state of existence is through living each moment from that sacred space of love to be divinely guided to fulfill your heart’s desires, summon the courage to take your life to the next level, and discover your meaning in life.

This week, be gentle with yourself, love yourself, forgive yourself, TRUST yourself, and remember just how worthy you are.

End Negative Thinking, Worry and Anxiety – 20 Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, in this 20 minute meditation, you will end negative thinking by coming into the present moment through your breath! The mantra is "so hum."

For the past decade, I’ve been teaching about the power of the pattern interrupt. In my book “destressifying,” I explore this concept in depth to share tools, tips, and techniques to introduce pattern interrupts into our daily life… from our morning meditation practice to hourly stress-busters that break up moments of struggle, anger, confusion and can end negative thinking. 

When we introduce a pattern interrupt into our flow of thoughts, we can gently step aside from the uneasy memories of the past or negative thinking of the future and truly ground ourselves back into the present moment. This can most easily be done through the breath. 

Our body-mind moves beyond all that irritation, anger, discomfort, anxiety, and less-than or “it’s not fair” thinking. The constriction vanishes instantly; and our next thought, word, or action will come from a less conditioned, more expansive place. Now we are primed for greater possibilities, novel solutions, and infinite potential.

Whatever limiting belief or negative thinking that was holding us back is momentarily suspended.

16 Seconds That Will Change Your Life

Of all the pattern-interrupting techniques that I’ve shared throughout the world, the one with the most powerful effect in the shortest amount of time is perhaps the simplest one. It’s a game changer, and I call it “16 seconds.” Not only does it have a profound destressifying impact in the moment, but it can also be the foundation for greater clarity of thought, heightened creativity, deeper intuition, and making better choices.

Let’s try it right now. It’s okay to keep reading as you go through this exercise with me.

Think of something that has irritated or bothered you in the past few days . . . a difficult conversation, a disappointment, an unmet expectation, some negative thinking that has been on a loop. Perhaps someone said they would do something and they didn’t, or they said they would meet you at a certain time and they were late, or they unexpectedly shared something about you with another person and it got back to you. (Don’t go too deep. This isn’t therapy.)

But right now, feel free to envision that other person’s face . . . maybe replay the moment in your mind’s eye, even notice someplace in your body that feels connected to the irritation. Take a few moments to settle into that space.

Now take a long, slow, deep breath in through your nostrils, and as you do . . . slowly count to four, and observe the air as it moves into your nostrils and to the back of your throat. Watch your breath as it moves down your chest and deep into your lungs. Feel your belly expand.

Observe your belly being filled, and hold that breath in to the count of four. And just witness the breath in your belly as you silently count. One, two, three, four.

Now slowly, to the count of four, release your breath and watch it as it moves up into your chest, into your throat, into your sinuses, and out through your nostrils.

And when the last wisp of air is out of you, hold that breath out to the count of four. And observe it, watch it, witness it . . . as it dissipates into the air.

Now breathe normally, and let’s try it with your eyes closed.

Remember: in four—hold four—out four—hold four. And make sure you follow your breath. Observing it along the way is key to the process. (I’ll wait right here . . . it’s only 16 seconds.)

I’m guessing you’re back right now, eyes open and breathing normally. Well, our whole experience was 32 seconds: 16 seconds with your eyes open and 16 seconds with your eyes closed. And in that half a minute while you were observing your breath (assuming you were playing along), you were totally present.

You were not thinking about the past or any of its grievances or regrets, nor moving into the future with all its predictions and projections. You were not thinking about your irritation. You were totally in the present moment, free from any negative thinking.

Your mind is a little calmer; your heartbeat has slowed a bit. You’ve filled your body with heavily oxygenated blood and nourishing hormones, and in the process, you’ve released a little bit of stress and some negative thinking that has been on a loop.

In under a minute, you have taken a powerful step into destressifying. The formal terminology for what’s happening in 16 seconds is introducing a pattern interrupt. You actually just jammed the brakes on a potential surge of stress hormones and all the negative body-mind reactions you were starting to feel.

You broke the flow of conditioned physical and emotional responses. Just the thought of this irritating situation or person triggered a memory of the stressful circumstances, and in 16 seconds you returned to the present moment. Then in the 17th second, you’re clearer—beyond the moment of emotion. You are a bit calmer . . . a bit lighter . . . a bit easier.

negative thinkingEven Dogs Pattern Interrupt!

The leading current theory on dog yawning, according to Dr. Benjamin Hart, a veterinarian and behaviorist at the University of California, Davis, is basically that “yawning cools the brain.” According to Hart, during periods of inactivity, the circulation in the brain slows down and the temperature of the brain comes up. Yawning is ostensibly believed to cool the arterial blood and thus cool the brain, allowing it to function better.

Behaviorists contend that dogs yawn as a way to neutralize a situation or calm themselves when they feel stressed. When Peaches – the Buddha Princess yawns, (other than when she first wakes up), it’s often because she’s anxious or is experiencing some sort of uncertainty. In group settings like visiting the dog park or at dog obedience classes, there’s plenty of yawning going on. These dogs know something should and could be happening, but aren’t sure when it will start. So they will subconsciously yawn to calm themselves down!!

The Power of the Pattern Interrupt

The process of repeated mini-immersions into stillness and silence is such a profound departure from our conditioned patterns and behaviors that we very quickly start to see the world differently. Each moment carries a little extra stillness — almost as if life is flowing at us in slow motion. We begin to reawaken our natural equilibrium — our organic, unconditioned set point, which connects us effortlessly to the core of our creativity and intuition. 

It also leads to our bursts of inspiration, our most intuitive thoughts, our greatest insights, and our deepest sense of connection to ourselves and to the world around us. So, let’s commit to a life of pattern interrupts so we can step into our best version & end negative thinking.

Healing Trauma with Meditation – 15 Minute Guided Meditation

Hello Spiritual Warrior, in this 15-minute meditation, you will work through healing trauma by connecting to the BEST VERSION of yourself!

If there’s any universal truth it’s that we can’t undo the past. It happened. Maybe it didn’t happen the way we planned. Maybe we made some poor choices affecting others, maybe someone else made poor choices affecting us.

Studying and practicing a blend of teachings – the Torah as well as the Vedas, Christ consciousness, Islam’s mystical Sufism, Osho’s Taoism, Guru Nanak’s Sikhism, the loving-kindness of Buddha’s compassionate teachings, and the universality of religious science – has helped me work through healing trauma, struggles, and challenges that I have experienced in my life.

It has helped me to move into the present and help others find deeper fulfillment in their lives. It has taught me that I can’t undo the past … I can’t un-ring the bell … I can’t unhurt those I have wounded and they can’t unhurt me.

But I can make different choices in this moment to right my past wrongs, to say now what I couldn’t or didn’t say then, to make amends for past misdeeds, to listen now to what I couldn’t hear then, to add sweetness to the lives of new people in my life in the same way I have brought pain into the lives of those in my past, to bring closure to the past in my heart and in my mind even when I am unable to do it in this physical world, and to take responsibility for my feelings, my interpretations, and my dreams.

Do I have pain lingering from the past? Can I accept what happened?Can I forgive those who were involved, including myself? Do I believe healing trauma is possible? What do I want in the present moment?What can I release that no longer serves me? Am I ready to step into a new beginning

Meditation has helped me find the answers to these questions, and open my heart wider than ever before, cleansing it, purifying it of that blackness . . . lightening the load . . . a little less pain and a little more clarity.

As I have peeled away the conditioned layers of my life, new thoughts have emerged, expanded aspects of my self have awakened, and I have connected to my soul. I have cried. I have laughed. I have tapped into the collective. I have experienced the infinite one-ness of the universe, and fallen in love again—with myself, with everyone, with life.

Now, the blackness is gone. And it can be this way for you, too.

This week, reconnect with your heart, which may have been closed for many years. Meditation will help awaken you to long-hidden forgiveness and help you make long-overdue amends with some of the deepest wounds of your past – things you’ve done and not done that you’ve regretted, ways of thinking and living that has not served others, relationships that have gone under-nourished or become painful, paths you’ve walked that had turned into dark rabbit holes, and sweet people with tender hearts along the way whom you may have hurt.

This week, explore your most important relationship – the one you have with your true Self – your highest self – your best version. You will start to find surrender, and embrace detachment, forgiveness and begin the process of healing trauma by making peace with your past.
