Review your year – before the next appears

As we head toward the last phase and last days of the year I want to invite you to pause, step back and reflect on your year.

It’s very easy to get caught up in the last minute rush, the Christmas preparation, the holiday season, the work and social parties, the shopping, the socialising – or just all of the demands and pressures of your day to day life that you don’t stop to appreciate, take the learning from and celebrate the year that’s about to end.

In the short 7 minute video above I’ll guide you from a short but rich review that will help you extract the juice, goodness and nourishment from your year whether it’s been a tough and turbulent one or if it’s been one that’s been a really positive and progressive one.

So grab a pen and paper – and perhaps your computer, diary or tablet – and perhaps a cup of tea and something to eat – and let’s begin:

What have been your highlights this year a) personally b) professionally
What’s gone well a) personally b) professionally
What have been the challenges / setbacks a) personally b) professionally
What has been your learning from all the above and how can you apply it to help you progress in 2016
Now list 3 priorities for a) your person/home/social life …and  b) your professional life / career business

Now take a little time thinking about the tools, resources, support and people that you a) have and b) need to help you in the year ahead.

When we return at the start of the New Year in 2016 we can pick up on this and set some simple goals, priorities and a straightforward plan that will help you.

But before all that now is a time to relax and regroup. You can also catch my Relax, Celebrate & Relax FREE webinar over on Soul-Trader.biz either live or on playback.

No stress this Christmas! How to cut the financial, emotional & physical cost

As we head into the holiday, festive and Christmas season you can easily get caught up in all the stress, excess and headaches. Without a lot of mindfulness and consideration your bank balance, relationships, emotions and waistline can take a big hit. Rows, getting overstretched and embarrassing and emotional moments can take far beyond New Years Day to mend.

So in the video above I share my 3 top tips that will help you manage:

Your finances
Your emotions / relationships
The festive excess

By taking a few simple steps, preparation and managing your relationships and conversations you’ll be able this time that means so much to many people in different ways whether this is an important spiritual, restful, recreational or family time for you and your loved ones.

Whatever you do I wish you all the best.

Where are you at and where next?

As we head toward the end of the year I just want to invite you to pause for a moment and consider where you are at right now. It may be that things are shaping up nicely for you or it may be that you need / seek or face a change. Whatever is the case for you taking a short pause or a little time out may well help you.

In the video above I pose a few questions and offer a few pointers that may be handy or may chime with you for where you are at in your life journey.

What can easily happen is that we get so much caught up in the ‘noise’ in our lives, work, relationships and minds that we don’t really have the clarity and head space that we need both for inner peace and for moving forward in our lives in a more centred, content and considered way.

But by just taking a little step back, a little pause, or a break you can not only get clearer about the path that you’ve already travelled and also about where you want to head to next.

Your career is your business!

Your career is your business – its up to you not your boss to take charge of it. In fact when it comes to your life and your career you are the boss.

There are all sorts of factors that will shape your career success and progress and there are all sorts of pressures. But beyond and above this the one thing that will shape how far you get is you: your energy, passion, courage, drive and determination.

Over the last couple of years I’ve been running a range of career development programmes within organisations including the NHS and I’ve seen lots of these issues in action.

Here are my 10 Top Tips

List your skills, talents, passions and career accomplishments
Produce your own 1-2 page career development plan with clear goals
Update your CV make in clear, crisp, dynamic and accomplishment focused
Utilise Linked In – have a strong profile, link to key contacts, get testimonials
Build your team, get networking and reconnect (and check out my event)
Get a mentor – get someone who’s been there and done it to help you thrive
Get a coach – if you are stuck or want to move up get a coach like athletes do
Be visible / indispensible – give 100%, be proactive, positive and passionate
Raise your profile: write/ speak in meetings, at evens, conferences & online,
Get involved / get ahead: join committees, boards, projects, volunteer, fundraise, attend workshops / talks – take the lead.

If you hate your job and want to find one that you truly love this video of mine will help you further.
