Affliction Z: Patient Zero byL.T. Ryan Something dark lurks in the wilds of Southern Nigeria. An experiment has gone horribly wrong and threatens to wipe all traces of humanity from Earth. 3rd Ranger Battalion, Bravo Company is sent in to assist, clean up the mess before it gets out of control. They've vanished.
Sean Ryder is an Air Force Pararescueman. Attached to SEAL Team 8, he believes he is on a routine rescue and recovery mission. Less than half an hour after landing in Nigeria, he knows that is not the case. And the further his mission leads him, the harder it becomes to get out alive.
Patient Zero is the first book in the zombie apocalypse / post-apocalyptic series Affliction Z.
MY TEASER:
“Jesus, Ryder!” Karl yelled. “What’re you doing?” Sean watched Knapp’s body slide along the wall to the right, leaving a crimson trail in its wake. He walked up to the corpse and nudged the dead man’s shoulder with the tip of his boot , looking for any reaction or sign of life. The old man had created these things that wandered the halls and outside the facility. Perhaps he had found a way to turn him into one without the side effects. Still, Sean figured it’d be damn hard for anyone to survive with half of their brain plastered to a wall.
“Ryder,” Karl said. Sean didn’t respond. He turned his head toward Jules’s body, then back toward Knapp.
“Ryder,” Karl said again.
“What?” Sean said.
“We needed him alive, man.”
“Sorry,” Sean said flatly.
“He probably had more info. Turk would have wanted to talk to him.”

THE RIFTERS BY M.PAX AND PRE-ORDER BOOK 2, THE INITIATE
The Gold Rush trickles to a fool’s quest and a string of stagecoach heists. In 1888, Earl Blacke decides to make a new start and become a better man. He escapes into the mountains, heading north. In the wilds of Oregon, a rift inside an ancient volcano opens and sends him into the future, into the present day. It also shaves forty years off his age, forty years to live over again and atone for what he’s done. Starting over is hard to do. In current day New York, Daelin Long’s dream job at a publishing house goes the way of the dinosaurs her sister chases. With no money and nowhere else to go, Daelin accepts the librarian position in her sister’s dinky town in the middle of Oregon. Nestled inside ancient volcanic peaks, the town of Settler holds onto many secrets. Residents roam the streets with weirdly fashioned devices, and odd lights pulse in the night skies. People whisper of a phantom outlaw and start dying, murdered and missing their heads. On top of it all, Daelin’s sister is missing, and Daelin doesn’t know who to trust. Earl knows more than he’s saying. He shares a notorious history with the phantom, one he’ll see remains buried. Keeping Daelin’s sister’s secrets is his only chance at redemption, and the only way to keep this world safe.Ebook: Amazon / Amazon UK / AmazonDE / AmazonAU / AmazonCA / B&N / Smashwords / Googleplay / iTunes /Versent Books / inktera /AmazonFR / AmazonES / AmazonIT / AmazonJP / AmazonBR / AmazonMX / AmazonIN
To trust unquestioningly is the first lesson Daelin Long must learn as the newest Initiate of the Rifters. Her first day is a disaster. She stands on a deserted street in a town smaller than a city district, courting killer rocks from another world with her ancestor from the Revolutionary War. Normal no longer exists.
While she struggles, Earl Blacke grapples with atoning for his past ill deeds, running far and fast from Settler, Oregon. The Shaman of the Desert promises him redemption, and an old mine puts the possibility of a gold strike in his grasp. His luck has changed for the better, but he can’t have both. THIS MONTH THE CO-HOSTS ARE:Laura at My Baffling Brain, Mark Koopmans, Shah Wharton, and Sheena-Kay Graham!
I have just been reading Alex's IWSG post and am excited to hear about the gathering of hints and tips from all who participate and then combining them into an ebook for all to learn about writing, publishing and marketing. It will be so helpful to not only up and coming writier's, but I am sure it will open the eyes of the old dogs amongst us too. What a great idea!
Once again Alex is the mastermind, he is such a clever man.
I have spent the month continuing with the writing of "Forces of Mist." It is still growing and coming along well. I came to a crossroads in the writing process and nearly scrapped the way it was heading to find a different path, but after deliberating for a couple of days ended up continuing the storyline in the original way.
To all who have committed to being either Beta readers or Critiques, please be patient, I hope to have it ready for you soon and thank you so much for accepting to become involved.
Being so preoccupied with writing, I must apologize to everyone I have promised a review, they will be coming. I have a couple of weeks off work at the end of the month and hope to catch up with the many tasks which have been neglected. One of them will be writing and posting reviews of the many books I have been reading. So, if you are one of the many, keep an eye out - your promised review should be posted then.
I hope you all have a great month.
Cheers!
Carolyn

Crimson Night (Night #1) byMarie HallWelcome to Carnivale Diabolique ― or what I affectionately like to call the circus of the damned.
My name is Pandora, and though my face might not seem familiar to you, you do know me. I'm a Nephilim. What does that mean? I'm half demon, what's my other name? Lust. I'm the dark craving that drives you mad, makes you want, makes you reckless and stupid. I'm the drug you'll do anything to get your hands on. But I'm not all bad. I fight for light, for goodness and truth. I love my job, killing vampires and werewolves, zombies, and freaks... it's what makes me happy.
But people are starting to disappear and lately I've felt a dark presence lurking around me. I think it might be a death priest, that's not good. There isn't much a demon like me fears, but I fear them. This should have been easy, me killing the fanged freaks, getting rid of my pesky priest problem, but I'm about to be betrayed by the one person I thought I could trust with my life and before the night is through I'll be covered in crimson...
MY TEASER:
I stopped dancing, alarm bells in my head clanging loud and obnoxious. “What are you doing to me? Why the games?” Angry, I shoved him back. “Don’t tell me you’re not my enemy. Of course you are, your kind has killed mine for centuries. You hunt my people and you expect me to believe you’re not my enemy. Ha.” I shook my head. “You see a girl and automatically assume I’m just gonna fall for your nice guy routine, well I’m not,” I said through clenched teeth, and yanked on his tie, dragging his face to mine.

Few Are Angels (Few Are Angels #1) byInger Iversen
After a fatal hit and run accident, Ella Monroe fears that she’s lost more than her beloved parents. Horrifying visions of a past life and a disturbing voice in her head have psychiatric professionals convinced that she’s lost her sanity as well. But when Kale—a dark and handsome stranger with a mysterious pastreveals the true meaning of her visions and the tremendous power she wields through them, Ella must come to terms with the devastating truths of her own past, while eluding an ancient Dark Prince who seeks to control not only her future, but all of mankind’s, by means of abilities that Ella is only beginning to understand.
Enter the shrouded world of an age old battle between an ancient race known as the Immortals and their bitter enemy Laurent, the so-called Dark Prince, who commands an army of half-breed vampires known as Chorý. Both sides have been desperately searching for the prophesied emergence of the Arc, a clairvoyant with unparalleled power to recall the past and a soothsayer with clear vision into the future.
The Council of Immortals has sworn to protect the Arc, whom they have identified as young Ella Monroe, a college freshman from Virginia living quietly and unaware of her powers or her past. But a renegade Chorý has other plans for the protection of a girl he has loved through the ages. Can Kale convince Ella of who she is, what she is destined to become, and what he once meant to her? Is he truly the best protector to shield the world from the devastating misuse of her powers that Laurent is bent on controlling? Or will the forbidden love they share and Kale’s cursed condition as a retched and hated Chorý be used against them both?
This paranormal romance told from the heroine’s perspective builds in intensity and intrigue to a finale you won’t see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and heartbreaking romance will leave you breathless and begging for more.
MY TEASER:
Kale had some weird self-loathing thing going on, and I needed to be careful about how much I asked about his vampire lifestyle. “Why can you come out during the day?” I stared into my cup of hot chocolate. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell he was uncomfortable with my question. “I mean, I thought vampires couldn't survive daylight or something, but when we first met, you said the sun only weakened you. What was that all about?” I paused briefly. “And do you seriously drink blood?” I blurted. I immediately regretted the rude way I’d asked the question. Maybe it was as personal as asking a female about her feminine issues.

Planet Urth (Planet Urth #1) byJennifer Martucci, Christopher Martucci More than two hundred years into the future, human beings are an endangered species. The planet has been battered by war, its inhabitants plagued by disease and death. Few humans survived and remained unaffected. Most changed dramatically and evolved into something else entirely. Irrevocable alterations caused by chemical warfare have created a new species. North America is in ruins and has been overtaken. Humanity has fallen at the hands of mutants known as Urthmen. Seventeen year-old Avery is alive and unchanged. But she has not been immune to the harshness of the new world. She has lived on the run for much of her life, in terror.
After losing her father, Avery is the sole guardian of her eight-year-old sister, June. Avery is now charged with June’s safety as well as her own, a nearly impossible task.
Forced to hide deep in the forest and away from the cities overrun by Urthmen, Avery and her sister are constantly hunted. Danger awaits them at every turn. They fear they are the only human beings left, that they are the last of their kind.
But are they truly alone?
Find out in this raw and rousing first installment of the Planet Urth series.
MY TEASER:
Murky black eyes the color of sludge are locked on mine , yet I do not move a muscle. My mind screams for me to reach for my sword, to run, to do something, anything. But my limbs are suddenly made of stone. The forest has gone still. I do not hear a thing, not the crackle of dry leaves, the buzz of insects, or the chirp of chipmunks. Even the birds are silent. The forest is scared stiff, too, holding its breath and willing the beast gone. All I hear is the rush of blood behind my ears, and the frantic beat of my heart.

Sarah Foster, Joylene Nowell Butler, Lily Eva, and Rhonda Albom!
Well, I am still busy writing. "Forces of Mist" just keeps growing. I have had no instances of writer's block throughout the process and the story is evolving well. I am closer to the end of the process than I was last month, but I am finding it hard to allow enough time from my work/family life commitments to complete the task, unfortunately something always comes up to distract me.
During the month I have been part of a Kindle Fire HD Giveaway, at I am a Reader, not a Writer. From my investment of $20, buying me two positions on the Rafflecopter, I have increased my twitter followers by approx.150 and doubled my sales for the month, also boosting my author status on Amazon. It seems to be a wise investment!
I hope things are going well for all of you, until next month, keep writing! :) [image error]
