"...my god is this spectacular!!!" - Quote the Raven

WHAT IF YOU SUDDENLY LOST EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE YOU KNEW? In a matter of minutes Elora Laiken lost everything familiar. She escaped assassination by being forced into an experimental device that left her broken, physically and emotionally, in another world. She woke up to find modern day knights, elves, vampires, werewolves, witches, demons and fae. This is the story of how they became her allies, friends, and family.

MY TEASER:

They were near the end of the grim formality when there was a sudden, upward shift in temperature, like a hot sirocco wind blasting a door open. That was followed by a flash of light and a pop as something the size of a person rolled into the fetal position materialized above the floor at waist height. It did not hover, but fell instantly to the stone floor, making a sickening plopping noise on impact. It appeared to be a bloody, quivering mass of scored meat partially covered by shreds of fabric that were either black or blackened by blood.

Excerpt:
Kiren lay, unmoving except for the slow rise and fall of his chest. His pendant bulged beneath his coat. No harm could come of examining it closer while he slept, could it? He might never know, and Alexia was dying to understand its importance.

She pulled back the curtain, sending a stream of light across his comatose body. She neared slowly and glanced again at the open door. To close it, to isolate them...

Breathe.

She knelt. The cool buttons loosed easily beneath her fingers and his coat fell back. The charm had found its way between his vest and thin shirt. She touched the chain tentatively, sliding along its length, gliding toward the treasure beneath his waistcoat...

Fingers seized hers.

She jumped.

Fierce blue eyes sought hers beneath lowered brows, the purest night sky littered by a sea of stars. She looked away, furtively.

“Are you undressing me?” he whispered.

“What?” Her cheeks flamed. She backed away.

Kiren rolled onto his elbow and pressed off the floor, stumbling. Alexia reached to steady him as he propped against one of the bed’s four posters. He shook off the dizziness and pulled her close.

Her breath caught. The press of his hands on her back, the heat of his body so near hers, the aroma of his oaken musk...
Her heart thumped like a rabbit’s, and she couldn’t help thinking very soon he would be hers.

She couldn’t meet his stare. “Kiren, I-I was not attempting to—”

A finger landed across her lips as he probed her gaze. His eyebrows tightened. He released her.

“Shall I assist you?” He slipped out of his coat.

She gasped. “Kiren!”

He chuckled, unbuttoning his waistcoat.

Alexia could not believe what he was doing and she couldn’t look away. He wouldn’t honestly undress before her and chance such overwhelming temptation, would he?

The waistcoat dropped to the floor, leaving a thin shirt to veil his chest. His pendant sat atop, a flattened pewter diamond with symbols etched across the surface like calligraphy-styled runes. A larger Z with a cross stroke and rounded tail engraved its center, encircled by a ring of smaller characters.

“So, which is it that has you?” His head tilted.

She staggered backward and landed on the bed, her headache thumping dully. Each of his arms propped by her sides, his alluring lips hovering within inches.

“The necklace or the man?”

Cheers, Carolyn  Indie Publishing and Marketing
My tips are divided into the five “E’s”Enjoyable
Editing
Easy
Endless
ExposureEnjoyable
The creative aspect of writing, is the most enjoyable part of creating a book. Letting the imagination flow and take you on unexpected journeys is a fantastic experience.  At this point, take time out to make contacts and blogger buddies, they will be very important when your work is done.
Editing
This stage can be tedious, but really is the most crucial. A well edited book, can make or break a story.
Easy
Publishing, Indie style is the easy step.

Endless
Marketing, it never, never ends.
Platforms like Twitter and Facebook are essential to advertise and build an audience. Make sure you connect whatever platforms you use to your main blog. This saves you time in the long run with every blog post being uploaded automatically to the platform.
To use an old cliché: Make sure you do for others, what you expect others to do for you!
Exposure
Be sure to expose your writing across as many networks and platforms as you can manage. It is time consuming and hard work, but the rewards speak for themselves. You gain followers, friends and associates and hopefully sell books!

 MY TEASER (EXCERPT):

He pressed me back against the tree, his hands protecting me from the rough bark, and deepened the kiss. And then just as suddenly, he lifted his lips, both of us breathing hard, as we stared at each other. “What happened to starting college without any ties?” I asked. I had to know. “Ancient history.”“Prehistoric?”“Mesozoic.”I smiled pleased. He grinned, even more pleased. The rushing in my head when he kissed me a second time, then a third had little to do with altitude. Not that I would ever tell him. Boys, bravado, egos, and all that.

UNDERRATED TREASURES BLOGFEST

http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/the-next-ninja-blogfest-plus-golon.html
HOSTED BY ALEX CAVANAUGH
Everyone has a favorite movie or band that no one else has ever heard about. For whatever reason, they remain undiscovered and underrated. Now is your chance to tell the world about this obscure treasure!

On Monday, September 22, post about your favorite unknown –

MOVIE – BAND/ARTIST – TV SHOW – BOOK

Post about one or all four – dealer’s choice!

6691426 Angelology (Angelology #1)  byDanielle Trussoni A thrilling epic about an ancient clash reignited in our time--between a hidden society and heaven's darkest creatures

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. --Genesis 6:5

Sister Evangeline was just a girl when her father entrusted her to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in upstate New York. Now, at twenty-three, her discovery of a 1943 letter from the famous philanthropist Abigail Rockefeller to the late mother superior of Saint Rose Convent plunges Evangeline into a secret history that stretches back a thousand years: an ancient conflict between the Society of Angelologists and the monstrously beautiful descendants of angels and humans, the Nephilim.

For the secrets these letters guard are desperately coveted by the once-powerful Nephilim, who aim to perpetuate war, subvert the good in humanity, and dominate mankind. Generations of angelologists have devoted their lives to stopping them, and their shared mission, which Evangeline has long been destined to join, reaches from her bucolic abbey on the Hudson to the apex of insular wealth in New York, to the Montparnasse cemetery in Paris and the mountains of Bulgaria.

Rich in history, full of mesmerizing characters, and wondrously conceived, Angelology blends biblical lore, the myth of Orpheus and the Miltonic visions of Paradise Lost into a riveting tale of ordinary people engaged in a battle that will determine the fate of the world. Sorry I am a bit late posting this, I actually forgot! My apologies to all the other blogfest participants and to Alex Cavanaugh, our host.     This book is quite a large one, approximately 450 pages, and in quite small print. It is fast paced, as the blurb states and is an intriguing read, full of interesting details entwined within biblical facts.
I have always been fascinated by the dedication Danielle Trussoni, (the author) shows in her creation of detail within the story. Her research and imagination should have received more credit.

23007247 The Rifters byM. Pax A junction erupts between the worlds.

The Gold Rush trickles to a fool’s quest and a string of stagecoach heists. In 1888, Earl Blacke decides to make a new start and become a better man. He escapes into the mountains, heading north. In the wilds of Oregon, a rift inside an ancient volcano opens and sends him into the future, into the present day. It also shaves forty years off his age, forty years to live over again and atone for what he’s done.

Starting over is hard to do. In current day New York, Daelin Long’s dream job at a publishing house goes the way of the dinosaurs her sister chases. With no money and nowhere else to go, Daelin accepts the librarian position in her sister’s dinky town in the middle of Oregon. Nestled inside ancient volcanic peaks, the town of Settler holds onto many secrets. Residents roam the streets with weirdly fashioned devices, and odd lights pulse in the night skies. People whisper of a phantom outlaw and start dying, murdered and missing their heads. On top of it all, Daelin’s sister is missing, and Daelin doesn’t know who to trust.

Earl knows more than he’s saying. He shares a notorious history with the phantom, one he’ll see remains buried. Keeping Daelin’s sister’s secrets is his only chance at redemption, and the only way to keep this world safe.

MY TEASER:

Chrome pigments in his skin slithered across his cheeks. “Earl can’t rescue your beloved sister if you don’t cooperate.” Dante’s laugh rumbled like stone down a hill. “This won’t hurt.” His eyes shifted from yellow to orange.
She twisted and with all her might kneed Dante between the legs. He fell to the floor like a sack of fools gold. As if scraping off a disease, Daelin brushed her hands over her arms. “What in all the dictionaries is this about?” Her glare snapped, despite the shake in her words.

Excerpt 3 (some strong language)
“You know, Nell, we should start a book club and read erotica. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?” Kat had clearly imbibed too many margs, as well.
I shot her daggers, but she shrugged them off with an evil but loving smile.
“Oh, don’t mind her, Kat. She’s no fun. I know Barbara will join us.” Mom rubbed her hands together. “This will be so much fun.” She looked across the table at me. “Who needs your father? Let him boink that other woman all he wants.”
“No, no, no,” I muttered under my breath.
They ignored me completely.
“Listen!” I snapped my fingers in both of their faces. “No one is starting a book club of any type.”
“What’s wrong with you, Cori? You’re an English teacher.” Kat tsked, playfully.
“It’s not that.” Mom leaned toward my girlfriend conspiratorially. “Cori can’t talk about sex. I think ever since she came out of the bathroom—I mean—closet.”
I couldn’t tell whether my mother was trying to rile me or if she really was that wasted. I suspected the latter. Out of the bathroom? She was too hip to gay culture to commit that kind of mistake.   “Out of the bathroom!” Kat spewed margarita across the table with her words. “That’s a riot.” She dabbed her mouth with her napkin, careful not to smudge her lipstick.
Mom flashed a cunning smile, having got the desired reaction out of Kat. She always wanted to be the hippest one in any group. She lifted her glass to catch the waitress’s attention, and Kat raised her arm to order another as well.
Sure. Why not? I motioned for another, too.
If you can’t beat them, join them.
After eating peacefully for several minutes, Mom launched into me again. “Anyway, you can’t tell me what to do, Cori. Kat and I are starting a porno group, and you can’t stop us.” My fork clattered onto my plate as the waitress approached, placed the drinks down, and hurried away.
Had Mom seen the waitress coming and timed her comment perfectly for maximum embarrassment?
“Thanks, Mother. You know I went to school near here. Someone might recognize me.”
