A DEADLY FORCE DWELLS WITHIN HERGrowing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she'd be convicted of murder—or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.

Cassastar
Alex J. Cavanaugh

I really enjoyed reading CassaStar! I found Byron, the main character very interesting as he has lots of layers to his personality and as you progress through the book the layers are peeled away, revealing his deeper self!

Alex, described the combat scenes throughout the book very well and I found myself caught up in the excitement of the tale!

The relationship between the two main character's is deep and made for an interesting read as it evolved throughout the story. I was glad that Byron had let himself become closer to Bassa and allowed him to enter past the blocks he hid behind to protect himself!

By the end of the book I was enjoying the location, the character relationships, the space battles and conquests, so overall I found it a refreshing read as it has been a long time since I have read a book in this genre!

Read from March 13 to 17, 2012[image error]

Looking forward to reading CassaFire to find out how Byron handles a lady!

KREATIV BLOGGER & SUNSHINE AWARDS!

A.E. Martin  just awarded me these 2 amazing awards! http://www.blogger.com/profile/08514343224203400113
I SEND THANKS HER WAY!
This is my second Sunshine Award!Wow, these things get around!
So to read my answers to the seven questions refer to this post: http://www.blogger.com/profile/08514343224203400113
To receive the Kreativ Blogger Award I am to tell 7 interesting facts about myself:
I first worked in the banking industry - supervising a department of 8 - 12 young adult females, working in the ledger and proof departments! (Real old days before computers!) I have spent a few years travelling and surfing around most of Australia, working various jobs from fruit picking to data entry in a State Health Department, crossing my fingers and hoping the old beat up combie would make it to the next town!I have really small feet, with short stubby toes! Recently a doctor I visited for a skin check up asked in jest, whether my mother bound my feet when I was a child! Nasty man!I completed my tertiary eduction through distance ed.I married a chef, because cooking bores me, but I love to eat!Enjoy the challenge of working with challenged teens, trying to make them see an education is not just a necessary part of life, but a gift to be cherished! Secretly wish I could win the lottery so I didn't need to work another day of my life. Ahh, the things I could do!
Now I am to choose seven bloggers to pass these awards on to:

TAGGED TO PLAY!

I HAVE BEEN TAGGED TO JOIN THE PLAY IN LUCKY 7BY TWO  FELLOW CAMPAIGNER'S
DAISY CARTER FROMhttp://www.daisycarter.com/
AND
TRACI KENWORTHFROMhttp://tracikenworth.wordpress.com/

  The Rules:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines - sentences or paragraphs - and post them as they're written. No cheating
4. Tag 7 authors
5. Let them know
So here is my WIP, I have been working on this for about six months. Luckily, I have just reached this point in typing it up, as I work my first draft in the old fashioned way - pen and paper! As yet I have not edited any of my typing, or the draft, but this particular piece seems okay. This piece is taken from the second book in the series of The Protectors and will be titled "He Came For Mine!"

I hope you like it......

I could see that she was listening closely to my account ofthe events that took place.  Her faceshowed clearly how she felt and looking at her my guess would be that she neverwanted to return there again.
This of course saddened me! I wondered what our future could be if she did not wish to return withme to my world.  I knew that Auron wouldsuffer without a male present in his life, but my life was now set.  I could not live here in this dimension withmy love and my child, I was for now committed to my endeavours back in my owndimension. This was definitely not the time to disclose thisinformation, so I kept it to myself and just enjoyed the moment of being withJazz and my child. When the time came, would I be able to take Auron away from Jazz?  I pondered this thought as I held them bothin my arms, basking in the enjoyment of just being together, even if it wouldonly be for a short expanse of time! ~~~~
It was wonderfulhaving Seb by my side.  I kept pinchingmyself secretly to ensure that I wasn't dreaming.Auron took to himimmediately and once the initial tension of being apart for so long wore off,it was like we had never been separated. We fit togetherperfectly!

So here are seven authors I have decided to tag:  David P. KingKevin HiattTara TylerNancy ThompsonTyson Devon                                                   Elise Fallson                                                 Stephanie Allen

IT IS TIME! THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH!

http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.com.au/p/insecure-writers-support-group.html
Well what can I say? I must be honest and say I have well and truly neglected my WIP this month due to donating any spare moment I have concentrating on Rachel Harries, 'Fourth Platform Building Campaign!'http://rachaelharrie.blogspot.com.au/
Yes, although I have written a little more of the first draft, (but not much) and typed up 2,000 words, I have been telling myself that devoting the time blogging and building my 'Platform' is very important!
Please, please tell me I am doing the right thing! I am sure it is an important step to do this! I know I enjoy it, but do I enjoy it too much? Is it just my attempt to put off what I should be concentrating on?
As I blog away I have touched bases with people (authors), who seem like really nice people and I tell myself that to connect with these people and build friendships is a great way to help me with my end goals! I try to help them by advertising their book launches, giveaways, blog hops, etc., but does this actually help me to sell my books?
I believe so, or at least I hope so!
I do know that this month, being involved in such a large campaign, has improved my writing and has challenged me to write pieces of work, in ways I have never thought to. And this is a good thing, isn't it? Yes, I suppose so, but still I do feel guilty not accomplishing my own work. Oh well, I suppose you can't have everything!
(By the way, during this months blogging, I only learned what a WIP is, I like the terminology, so I am now going to use it too! It is a catchy phrase!)

Second Campaigner Challenge

Do one or more of the following:

Prompt 1
Two people are sitting together under the remains of a concrete bridge. Their backs are against a rusted bridge support. One person's leg is cut. The other person has wet hair.
Prompt 2                                                                                                                                  Prompt  3

Prompt 4                                                                                                                                  Prompt 5

Below is my 200 word story /flash fiction piece (there may be 201 words), response. I have written outside my usual genre and have used all 5 prompts above!   Second Campaigner ChallengeDo one or more of the following:1.Write a pitch/logline for a book based on the prompts(less than 100 words)2.Write a short story/flash fiction piece of less than 200words based on the prompts3.Write a poem with a twist using the prompts as inspiration(in less than 200 words)4.Write a story/poem in five sentences, each sentence basedon one of the prompts5.Write a poem/flash fiction piece (in less than 200 words)about the water pear *without* using the words "pear", "spoon", or "droplet".For added difficulty/challenge:•Complete at least three of the above activities and tiethem all together with a common theme (feel free to either state the theme inyour post or leave us to guess what it might be)•Write in a genre that is not your own•Ask Challenge entrants to critique your writing.A  Time Remembered I gasped forair, as I looked down at the deep cut oozing blood from her leg.  We had been lucky to escape the officerspatrolling the foreshore! Casey had caught her leg on one of the sharp, brokenedges of the bridge, as we jumped into the murky water!I could feeltiny trickles cascading down my back from my wet hair as we both sat together, our backs resting against what remained of the now rusted supports of the oldconcrete bridge.  I can remember happierdays as a child running along the bridge, as clear blue water rushed beneath.  I would chase my ball, as my parents watchedthe magicians' cast their magic's, entertaining the crowds with tricks of swirlingsmoke and spinning water. A completecontrast to the view today! As we sat together recovering from our ordeal, Icould see only sadness, as young children sifted through rubbish looking forwares to sell at a local market, to gain money desperately needed by theirfamilies."What'swrong?" Casey was looking at me with concern in her eyes."It'snothing, I was just remembering a time from my past. You're the one I should beworried about!"
