Grishel’s Feather in Editing

I finished the Grishel’s Feather draft and went through a few rewrite/edit cycles before wrapping up the manuscript and sending it off to my editor. The wrapping up piece is metaphorical since I sent the draft off as an email attachment.

Grishel’s Feather is another errand for Jack, but this time he has to retrieve a healing object of power that no one really wants him to have. Fasher, Corina and Tanner are stricken with a magical disease so they need a magical object to cure them. Is Jack up to the task? I suppose he is, since I am currently drafting the fourth errand.

The fourth book in the series is titled Battlebone. Jack will travel to a far-off country with quite a different culture where he has to struggle every inch of the way to get to find the Battlebone. He is reunited with an old friend, Grigar Soffez, the wizard whose sister, Amara, owned the toppling keep.

The Warded Box Released!

Good news, folks. I have just released the kindle version of The Warded Box on Amazon. It is available and ready to read. The paperback version will follow sometime within the next week.

Here is the blurb:

Jack Winder is sent on another errand by the mercurial Fasher Tempest. This time he heads south into the country of Tesoria accompanied by two Tesorian wizards. The country is rent into factions with each one rebelling against the king in their own fashion. In this turbulent environment, Jack must deliver a warded box to the grand wizard of Tesoria far south of the border. Along the way he must battle with armies, wizards, wolves, and betrayals of all sort as he pursues completing his task.

and the cover:

The new book is available on Amazon at this LINK

As an update, I’m about 20% through the first draft of Grishel’s Feather.

Grishel’s Feather Is Up Next

Grishel’s Feather is the next Jack Winder, Wizard’s Helper book. It will come after The Warded Box which is in editing. I plan on having The Warded Box complete well before the end of May.

With a new editor, my timing is still being adjusted. I continue to write at the same pace, so I imagine I will move quicker than the editing. All that means is the books will be ready at the same time, but they will already be written. Because of that, I will probably allow some pre-ordering on Amazon.

The Serpent’s Orb is Released!

With a bit of a delay, I have finally released The Serpent’s Orb, the first book in the Wizard’s Helper series. Here is a blurb:

Jack Winder grabs the opportunity to become a wizard’s helper under unique circumstances. As part of his duties he is ordered to travel the length of Corand to the capital city to bring back a priceless object of power, the Serpent’s Orb. He soons finds that he is not the only one after the orb and someone is willing to kill to get it.

Unfortunately, Judy Robins, my former editor, passed away today after a year-long bout with a virulent form of cancer. She went peacefully and I definitely will miss her as a friend and editor. It took some time to find another editor, but I did and I am happy with the result.

I haven’t been idle and the draft of the next book in the series, The Warded Box is complete and it is in the rewrite stage. The series has definitely taken on a character of its own.

The book is currently available on Amazon at this LINK.

The Serpent’s Orb Release Update

I have had some recent bad news. The editor for my last twenty books has become seriously ill and as a result I have had to secure the services of another editor. Since this is last minute, I am unsure when the first book of the Wizard’s Helper series will be released. It looks like late April or early May.

In the meantime, I continue to work on The Warded Box. I expect to be finished with the first draft about the time The Serpent’s Orb is edited.

The Serpent’s Orb Cover Release

The first book in the Wizard’s Helper series, The Serpent’s Orb, is in editing. I have just approved the cover. I am hoping for an early April release. Book 2, The Warded Box, status is at about 10% complete with the first draft. I’m hoping to get that one out by the end of May.

A Snoop Without Magic is Published!

As promised, A Snoop Without Magic was released on Amazon early, early this morning. Here is the blurb:

Returning to his home continent, Sam Smith expects his life to return to normal, but his hopes are dashed as his homeland is embroiled with internal war. To reclaim his place in Toraltian society, Sam must use his talent with a blade to navigate through war, politics, and personal grudges to find the home that he seeks.

The book is available on kindle and in a few days on paperbook. You can click the link below to find by clicking on the cover below.

I’m sad to see Sam go, as I am all my heroes. He struggled throughout the series more than most, but had an open attitude. I hope you enjoy reading the book (those that buy it) and enjoy reading this last book in the Magic Missing series.

Note: The initial post was a draft with an incorrect URL for the book. If you click on the image, it will now take you to the correct Amazon link.

The Wizard’s Helper – New Series

wizard's hat

With the last volume in the Magic Missing series in final editing, I have created a new series called The Wizard’s Helper. The first book with a working title of The Serpent’s Orb is currently in the planning stages. We have a new hero, Jack Winder, the son of a wordworking craftsman.

I’m excited to put Jack in a new world. It won’t be quite as advanced as my previous books. The last book in the Magic Missing Series will be out in early March and I hope to get The Serpent’s Orb published in May.

A Scholar Without Magic Is Now Available!

The latest book in the Magic Missing Series, A Scholar Without Magic, has just been published on Amazon. It is available for purchase. Here is the link.

I scurried to get this out before a trip and my editors cooperated making this book a forty-day wonder, from draft to release. The blurb remains the same:

Sam Smith finally arrives at Tolloy to attend university. He takes to the sword and joins the dueling team while the Dictator Viktar Kreb begins to tighten his hold on the city. Challenges begin to blossom where he must develop new talents in order to survive a continent descending into chaos.

This story was, as always, fun to write. We get to see Sam grow up, literally and figuratively in A Scholar Without Magic, and the stage is set for the conclusion of the series, A Snoop Without Magic, which I am currently working on. I don’t know if I can get this one done in forty days, but there is always that goal out there…

Enjoy Sam’s fourth episode!

A Scholar Without Magic

The draft is done. The rewriting is done. The cover is done. The editing is to be done. Sam Smith’s adventure on Polistia is about ready to be shared. Unfortunately, my editors have some personal plans that will take some time, so all I can commit to is an end of January release. My work is about done, so I will work on the next and last in the Magic Missing Series, A Snoop Without Magic.

Here is the cover
