A Sorcerer Rises Now Available on Amazon
At last, my new series, Song of Sorcery, gets its first installment published. A Sorcerer Rises is done and ready for reading on Amazon. Here is the final cover. With the help of some friends, I tweaked the original below. I’m in the middle of drafting the next book, A Sorcerer Imprisoned. You can see the difference between my first version of the cover and the final product.
Here is the blurb:
Bound to a cruel grandfather, thirteen-year-old Ricky Valian is an orphan and a thief. Compelled to steal a valuable item in a public place, Ricky uses the only trick he knows, a magic trick. His crime doesn’t go unobserved. The Dean of Doubli Academy witnesses the theft and recognizes Ricky’s latent talent, volunteering to become Ricky’s guardian at the boy’s trial. Ricky finds himself, unlettered and untutored in sorcery, in a place filled with students. As he struggles with his unexpected circumstances, Ricky becomes a target of a vicious bully, who may not be above taking the life of someone who gets in his way.

Cover Reveal! A Sorcerer Rises – Book One of Song of Sorcery Series
Here it is… The cover for the first book of the Song of Sorcery Series. I had a different title in mind for the first book, but I changed my mind and came up with the title of A Sorcerer Rises. The books in the series will start with A Sorcerer *something*.
The scene is not in the book, but it’s more of a representation of thirteen-year-old Hendrico (Ricky) Valian pondering what his life holds. Ricky does own a rowboat in the book and lives on a river at the beginning. There might be a tweak or two before the final version, but I think this is pretty much how the cover will appear.

First Draft of Sorcerer’s Song is Complete
I just finished the first draft of the Sorcerer’s Song, the first book in the Song of Sorcery Series. The story came out a little different than I intended, but this version sets up future books in the series better.
Now comes the rewrites. I’m still shooting for an end of October release.

Song Of Sorcery Series – A Hint of Things To Come
Some of you who have finished The Fractured Empire noticed the excerpt in the back of the book. This is a teaser for my next series, Song of Sorcery. I’m about a third through the first draft and plan on getting the book out by the end of October. Here is a hint of what’s to come.
The series is going to follow the growing up of a youth (nearly 14 years old at the time of the first book) as he is legally removed from a grandfather, who uses Ricky to steal, and becomes the ward of an Academy that teaches its students to become contributors in their country. The equivalent timeframe would be the English Restoration period (late 1600’s, early 1700’s).[image error]
Ricky has a healthy dose of sorcerous power. The power comes from a resonance developed within a sorcerer’s body by created by humming and singing. The will of the sorcerer takes the internal power and applies it externally.
Outside conflict will come from political sources. Internal conflict arises from Ricky’s attempt to grow up in an environment where he doesn’t quite fit in. He does get help from some Academy faculty members along the way and others as his world expands while he ages and his power and knowledge increases.

The Fractured Empire – Progress Report
I finished the first draft of The Fractured Empire on July 7th and have completed the first re-write. I do at least three before handing it off to my editors. I have a conference to attend this week, so my time will be limited. I am still aiming for the end of July to publish the last book in The Disinherited Prince Series, but realistically, the release might happen in early August.
The last book is rather large in scope and will be a little longer than the others. There is a lot of stuff that goes on and things to tie up. I didn’t wrap every character’s story up in a bow, but there is no cliffhanger at the ending and Shira behaves herself, mostly.
I like the ending, but then I would, wouldn’t I?

The Misplaced Prince – Cover Reveal
Book Six is in editing. The draft and a couple of rewrites are finished and now all the technical stuff has to take place. I’m still shooting for an early June release.
The cover is made up of elements in the book. This time the hawk tile is given to Pol. He will head to grasslands at some time during the story, hence the wheat-filled background.
Book Blurb:
Pol Cissert can’t remember his name or his origin when washed up on a strange continent. Demeron, his horse, must find a way to get Pol to a magician powerful enough to remove his curse. Without magic, it may take years to find the right person, so until then Pol has become the Misplaced Prince.
