“A VR experience is worth more than a thousand pictures”

Most of us know that virtual reality (VR) can be used for gaming. But, did you know that VR is literally used in every industry nowadays for all kinds of purposes? VR is an interesting new technology that transports a user, often using a VR-headset, to a new location in a new virtual body. That offers a lot of benefits. In my TEDx talk I researched ways how VR could benefit climate change.
The thought I am sharing in my TEDx talk is as follows. Currently, we try to convince people of all the problems we are having with the climate by showing terrifying video’s and statistics on how the earth is warming up. Activists assume that people are willing to change their entire way of living and consuming by this. However I have never heard anyone telling me they have seen a life changing statistic. People do talk about life changing experiences. Since VR is a great tool to simulate experiences, I would argue this is a far more effective tool to make people understand the problems we are facing.
I had a life changing experience myself when I tried VR for the first time at the university I was studying at. I was a guinea pig of a PhD student who was doing a psychological experiment with VR. In this VR environment I was standing in a living room, with a table, a chair, and two people standing in front of me. One was constanty staring at the, the other was slowly moving towards me over time. Until at some point, that person is so close to me. I felt very uncomfortable, so I took a step back.
That experience made me incredibly curious about VR. It was able to make me feel very uncomfortable, by letting someone stand too close to me. While actually, there was no one standing there. It was all a simulation. However, different from a simulation you see on a television screen, this experience made my palms sweaty and was able to give me a specific feeling and emotion. So what if we can use that power of transferring emotions and feelings to let people experience how the earth is doing? And to make people ‘feel’ the need to change?

VR is a great way to change perspective. What if you could see the rainforest through the ‘eyes’ of a tree? In this experience you grow from a seedling to a full grown tree, until you experience your destiny during deforestation.

The Overview Foundation – SpaceBuzz
When astronauts travel to space and see the earth from a distance, they experience a great sense of urgency to help the earth. This feeling is called the overview effect. A Dutch organization is bringing this experience to earth using VR. Inside a bus shaped as a space shuttle, children can put on a VR headset where they experience a virtual launch to space to see the earth from a distance, so they can experience the overview effect themselves. With that, this organization is creating ‘ambassadors for planet earth’

Crowdfunding: Seats2meet Bangladesh community 2.0

If you don’t know me I am Fahad Bin Husne Ali the location manager of Seats2meet Bangladesh . We do create change in our village with the seats2meet location. How about creating more communities in different places.
I start working on a second community. I grew up in a city named Mathbaria, and spent 11 years out of my 23 years of life. Have all the friends and emotions. My friends always complain to me why I don’t make an open source coworking space there also. Well its a hard job for me to maintain one location . After Covid-19 it’s very tough and now I can’t really make another location. But what I can do is make “Tech Sunday” just like the Permanent Future Lab,Netherlands.
Well it’s not easy making a community here in Bangladesh because most of us are poor and unaware of technology. I wish it was too easy to create an event and tell people to make sure for RSVP. I made an event on facebook but most of the people in my community don’t have phones or facebook. Maybe some of them have it at home but you know strict parenting and limitations of using online.
So the solution was to go door to door to tell them what we are planning and I have to also convince them that we can learn together.Need to convince not only those people in my community but also their parents. Some say okey, some say NOPE.
I respect both.
I was planning to host in my own room but my rental house is really tiny so I was confused because I don’t know how many people are going to come. Then I posted on facebook that anyone can help me with a location where we can host meetups in just Sunday for 1 or 2 hours
One guy commented that they have a library room with books and no one visits anyway. I can use the room. I was happy and thanks to my network.The very next day we got the key. The first sunday was on 18th october. Myself and 2 of my buddies went to the library room 2 hours before the meetup and cleaned it up. Lots of work because it was horribly messed up.
Well our work was successful to see guys are coming with a happy face. Some guys were meeting me for the first time and were very excited. I am not a celebrity but people kinda know me for my extreme backpack travel stories on facebook.
It was 4 pm and we officially started our meetup by introducing each other.
We then talked about career and future plans and how Technology can change life day to day and also for a better future. Some younger dude got really inspired and told me they will attend a meetup every week. We plan to create small projects instead of just talking and then shows more people to inspire them.
I created a small touch screen tablet with my raspberry Pi 4. Well this might be funny or too easy to you but here it’s a big deal.

We are planning on creating more small arduino projects and my own dream is making a drone on my own because drones in the market are very expensive. From the next meetups we are gonna also experience Google Nest that my friend Jurjen De Vries gifted us. Thanks to him. Along with experiencing tech I think we have a lot more potential and we have the passion to work on.

Natuurlijk zijn er wel een aantal dingen waar je rekening mee kunt en moet houden zodat jouw kantoor uiteindelijk een goede werkplek is voor jezelf, maar daarnaast ook voor de werknemers. Een algemene stijl aanhouden is de beste manier om een kantoorpand in te richten. In dit artikel staan een aantal dingen verwerkt die je niet kunt vergeten bij het inrichten van een kantoorplek.
Niet te vergeten dingen voor op het kantoor
Zodra je een kantoor in gaat richten, zullen er een hoop dingen door je hoofd spoken die je absoluut niet wilt vergeten. Een aantal basis artikelen voor in een kantoor zijn, bureaus, computerschermen, bureaustoelen. Deze basisartikelen voor in een kantoor zijn erg belangrijk. Bureaustoelen en bureaus die niet fijn zitten, verkeerd zijn of door een andere mogelijke redenen niet geschikt zijn om aan te werken kunnen veel problemen veroorzaken, zowel fysiek als mentaal. Een medewerker zal het niet op prijs stellen als hij niet lekker zit, de werkprestaties zullen hierdoor enorm dalen en de fysieke nek en rugklachten die hierbij komen kijken zijn ook zeer ongewenst. Hierom is het van belang dat de werknemers goede stoelen en bureaus hebben die op maat zijn zo kunnen zij optimaal werken. Andere dingen die erg fijn zijn om op een kantoor te hebben zijn dingen als een koffiezetapparaat of een koelkast. Voor veel mensen is koffie in de ochtend een vast ritueel, en een koelkast is handig om je eten te bewaren. Een ander punt dat je bij veel bedrijven ziet is een aparte ruimte waar de werknemers gezellig gezamenlijk hun pauze door kunnen brengen. Indien deze plek er is, is het een aanrader om deze ruimte fijn in te vullen voor de werknemers. Dit zullen zij zeer op prijs stellen. Als je van plan bent een mooie pauzeplek in te richten voor de werknemers is een hoekbank misschien een leuk idee. Verder is het handig om een afmeting van de tafel en genoeg stoelen in de ruimte te plaatsen. Het is de bedoeling dat iedereen in de ruimte gezellig aan kan sluiten om gezamenlijk pauze te houden.
Decoratie in een kantoorpand voor een leuke sfeer
Iets anders waarmee je het kantoor wellicht leuk in kunt richten en een leuke sfeer kunt creëren is door decoratie te gebruiken. Als decoratie kun je kaarsjes op een tafeltje plaatsen in de winter of een kerstboom opzetten met kerst. Er zijn nog een hoop andere leuke ideeën die je toe kunt passen bij jouw kantoor. Andere leuke ideeën zijn bijvoorbeeld schilderijen of geurkaarsjes. Ook zijn er tegenwoordig een hoop bedrijven die een logo van jouw bedrijf op muren uit kunnen werken, misschien is dit een leuk idee om te doen. Kortom, als je een kantoorpand geheel moet inrichten is dit vaak heel leuk. Wel zijn er een aantal punten die je niet mag en kan vergeten. Als je op al deze tips let zul je een mooi kantoor kunnen vormen waar de werknemers optimaal kunnen presteren.

Rearranging Seats2meet,Bangladesh.

Covid-19 was a curse to all of us. It took me a year to establish a cool little location and convince people and then got some visitors in s2m,Bangladesh. And after 4 month of breaks and sudden small meetups it seems like I have to start from the very beginning. People here are rebooting themselves so is me.
Okay so after a lot of restrictions and so on we have permission to open our location and do meetups and we are ensuring our health care.
2 meetups in a week. Talking about tech, English and PFLab get together. Simple and clean. The meetup we had in our Pflab program we talked about OS (operating system). Here people only think windows in the way to go. Even 2 years before I thought like this. Our s2m dudes already know the basics of computers and a little tech, so it was perfect for them to learn about OS. I made a full presentation made in google slides and Jurjen DE Vries helped me a little bit changing and modifying. I explained the basic idea of Operating system, not only computer operating system but also mobile, watch OS and IOT. Discussed market share of OS in a pie chart, however that was a little backdated version of my slides. We also discussed the history of OS, features of OS , how OS gets connected with hardware. The presentation also shows how Karnel can create communications between hardware and software. Showed it by picture to give a better visualization.
It’s good to show the types of operating systems so that everyone don’t get confused and mix with each other. We end up talking about advantages and disadvantages of OS.
Talking about OS is important because my dudes already know enough basic software and hardware stuff, it was good to know about how things work internally.
My opinion on different OS is, I love OS with an open source ecosystem like linux. Everything is free and speedy. Windows is popular and convenient but laggy and expensive. Big NO NO for me. I myself personally use chrome OS. It’s cheap, super fast and out and out google security. Security is something I want from any OS. I wish I could review MACOS someday.

Het is een werkwijze die al decennia oud is: intervisie. De basis ervan werd gebruikt tijdens de wederopbouw van Japan in de jaren 50, tijdens topdrukte in de gezondheidszorg in de jaren 70 en sinds de jaren 90 is het een gebruikelijke vorm van collegiale consultatie in het onderwijs en de gezondheidszorg. Maar ondernemers maken er relatief nog maar weinig gebruik van. Best gek eigenlijk. Want het is een laagdrempelige manier om nieuwe
inzichten te krijgen in vraagstukken, of ze zelfs op te lossen.

Wat is intervisie?
Een intervisiegroep is een groep gelijkgestemde ondernemers die bij elkaar komt en met elkaar bespreekt wat er in hun bedrijf gebeurt. De leden zijn een klankbord voor elkaar en sparren over bestaande uitdagingen of nieuwe ideeën binnen hun bedrijf. Met een intervisiegroep los je werkgerelateerde vraagstukken op. En dat niet alleen, je stapt uit de waan van de dag en vindt vertrouwen en aanmoediging in de groep om anders te kijken naar je vraagstukken. De manier waarop de intervisie wordt vormgegeven is middels een gezamenlijk afgestemde structuur. Er zijn vele werkmethoden, daarover hieronder meer.
Begeleide en onbegeleide intervisie
Een intervisie kan begeleid of onbegeleid plaatsvinden. Bij een begeleide intervisie wordt de intervisie begeleidt door een supervisor. Deze houdt het proces in de gaten en faciliteert de groep.

Lijkt intervisie je wat en wil je een groep opzetten?
Praktische tips voor onbegeleide intervisiegroepen:
zorg dat de groep uit 3 tot maximaal 8 personen bestaat
kom periodiek bij elkaar, zeker 1x per maand
leg de bijeenkomsten per kalenderjaar vast
trek 3 uur uit voor 1 bijeenkomst
verdeel de rollen van voorzitter en notulist en rouleer deze per bijeenkomst of om de aantal maanden
maak afspraken over normen en waarden van de groep (denk aan privacy, respect en discipline)
kies een methode om jullie intervisie structuur te geven. Wanneer je online zoekt op ‘intervisie’ vind je er al heel wat.

4 SEO trends voor 2020 die je moet weten

De wereld van SEO is er eentje die snel beweegt, dat kan elke SEO expert je vertellen. Achter de schermen bij Google en andere zoekmachines zijn er constant ontwikkelingen gaande, en ook het zoekgedrag van online gebruikers verandert met vrijwel elke Google search. Het is soms lastig bijblijven, maar het maakt SEO natuurlijk ook een interessant vakgebied.
Ook in 2020 zijn er weer veranderingen en innovaties in het SEO landschap waar te nemen. We gaan hier in op vier SEO trends van 2020 waar je niet omheen kunt.
Long-tail keywords
Long-tail, of lange staart, keywords slaan op de zoekopdrachten waar minder mensen op zoeken, maar die wel zeer gerichte traffic kunnen binnenhalen. Het gaat om de langere zinnen en woordcombinaties die zich in de long-tail van een grafiek bevinden, de lange staart aan het einde. Ze hebben per keyword een laag zoekvolume, maar cumulatief gezien kunnen ze een groot deel van je binnen-Googlende bezoekers vertegenwoordigen.
Bovendien zijn de zoekers, die met een long-tail keyword je website binnenkomen, vaak zo gericht en specifiek aan het zoeken, dat ze ontzettend goed converteren. En daar gaat het uiteindelijk om: dat een bezoeker jouw website vindt, omdat je precies biedt wat ze zoeken, en ze het vervolgens maar al te graag afnemen. Of dat nou producten zijn, of informatie, of expertise, of een service, het is waar ze voor kwamen, gegoten in een vorm die aanspreekt.
Sterke content in een duidelijk format
Schrijven voor SEO gaat steeds minder om de zoekmachine, en steeds meer om de zoeker. Heb je een website, die naast een product of service leveren, ook voorziet in informatie op een bepaald gebied, of is bloggen juist de kern van je site, dan kun je niet om een goede strategie voor SEO copywriting heen.
Een goede SEO tekst is er een waar de lezer alles uit kan halen wat ze maar zouden willen weten over een bepaald onderwerp. Dit moet vervolgens ook in heldere taal en als een overzichtelijk geheel gepresenteerd worden, met goed onderbouwde kennis en een duidelijke autoriteit. Schrijf hoe je lezer zou praten, en denk goed na over de intentie waarmee ze naar de pagina zijn gekomen. Kun jij bieden wat je met je hoge positie in Google hebt beloofd? Of moet de zoeker weer terug naar Google voor aanvullende informatie?
Featured snippet
De felbegeerde positie nummer 1 op de Google zoekresultaten pagina lijkt opeens een stuk minder aantrekkelijk door de box bovenaan die alles naar beneden duwt. Wat er in die box (ook wel de featured snippet) komt te staan hangt af van de zoekopdracht, en is een manier van Google om mensen langer op hun site te houden. Geloof het of niet, Google is ook nog steeds maar gewoon een website! En hoe langer mensen bij Google blijven hangen, of zelfs nooit meer weggaan, hoe beter dit voor Google is.
Daarom wordt de informatie die Google naar boven haalt op steeds andere manieren gepresenteerd. Is iemand op zoek naar ‘roze kinder sneakers met lichtjes aan de zijkant’, dan zal de zoekmachine deze zo goed mogelijk weergeven in de ‘shopping’ carrousel bovenaan. Wil iemand liever weten hoe je een ei precies kookt, wat de definitie van een relatie is, of hoe je een oliefilter vervangt, dan komt dit overzichtelijk in de informatiebox te staan.
Over het algemeen is concurreren op een keyword waar al een featured snippet voor bestaat redelijk moeilijk (maar niet onmogelijk!). Je hebt betere kansen die keywords te zoeken waar nog geen featured snippet voor wordt weergegeven en hier content voor creëren. Mits deze zoektermen binnen je straatje passen natuurlijk, relevantie is altijd cruciaal!
Voice search
De meeste zoekopdrachten worden nog gewoon ingetypt, maar aangezien we op andere plekken ook steeds meer beginnen te wennen aan voice commands, zal dit zonder twijfel binnen niet al te lange tijd overlopen naar ons zoekgedrag. Via de technologie van smart home devices kunnen we met enkel ons stemgeluid de verwarming al reguleren, de lichten dimmen en een andere playlist opzetten. Waarom dan niet gelijk vragen hoelang pasta moet koken om deze al dente te krijgen, of hoeveel kinderen Madonna ondertussen wel niet heeft?
Om op deze SEO trend in te spelen, dien je je met de website content steeds meer te richten op de spreektaal van een zoeker. Hoe we typen is vaak anders dan hoe we spreken, dus daar moeten je copywriting en keyword focus ook op inhaken. Zoekopdrachten zullen meer als vragen worden geformuleerd, en antwoorden zullen meer in natuurlijke taal aangeboden moeten worden. Hier komen de long-tail keywords ook weer bij om de hoek kijken, net als goede, overzichtelijke content, en de featured snippets die prachtig als antwoord op een voice search command kunnen worden aangeboden.
Een goede SEO strategie vereist dus bovenal een geïntegreerde aanpak; niet alleen tussen de verschillende SEO technieken die er bestaan, maar ook binnen het wijdere marketing beleid achter de website. En wellicht is het nergens zo belangrijk om de trends en ontwikkelingen bij te houden als bij SEO.
