JIANNE CARLO
Award-winning author Jianne Carlo’s motto is simple: Alpha Me Please. While strong heroines, exotic locations, and cultural differences are her forte, she goes weak in the knees for warriors and alphas. Send her a man with an attitude, and she’ll find the right woman to tame him. Jianne…

Books, Books, Books!!
I am attempting to add a regular new feature to my blog. Through “Books, Books, Books” I want to share some of the fabulous and exciting books that have crossed my paths. There may be something resembling a review or it could just be a lot of gushing…like for this book:
Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh
I have been following this series since the beginning and had the pleasure of meeting her at the Romantic Times Convention in New Orleans. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met and very sweet. When Nalini mentioned at one of her panels that they had 100 copies of Shield of Winter two week before the official release date I was first in line;).
Here is the blurb:
Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.
For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…
Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to stifle her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she’ll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…
I just love Nalini’s style of writing. Her characters are well thought out and believable. I would love to hang out with them;). What I really like is that Nalini is bringing this arc of the story that she started 13 books ago to an end and that she is tying up everything she mentioned throughout the series. Very often it feels like a series just continues on and on with no clear goal or end in sight. For the Psy/Changeling series there will be one more book bringing showing us how the characters deal with everything that happened throughout the books. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be more books in this world, but they will have a different core.
Anyway, after all that, if you haven’t already start the series RUN to the store and buy Slave to Sensation, book 1. You have 13 books to get through, which should take you about a week because you won’t be able to stop reading, and then you only have to wait for only one more.
What book have you read recently that has jumped to the top of your keeper shelf?

Weekend Writing Warriors-Danger by Dalliance Snippet 9
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. This comes a little after last week’s snippet. Sarah has just agreed to pose nude for Archer’s “housemate” Warren in exchange for an early royalty payment, driving Archer crazy because he still doesn’t know what she needs the money for. We are now in Sarah’s point of view and find out more about her motivation. Archer speaks first. Mr. Kemmer is the tax collector and not a character I have shown in the snippets until now.
““And if at any point you would like to tell me what you require the funds for, we can reevaluate the situation.”
When hell becomes an ice skater’s paradise.
She flashed back to Mr. Kemmer. The broad jaw, wide shoulders and dirty-gray eyes. His onion-filled breath. His long fingers on her shoulders. His chapped lips against hers.
“We could come up with other ways for you to pay your taxes, Miss Rigdon, other ways indeed.”
I am re-evaluating my outline for Tangled Redemption. Things aren’t coming together the way I want them to, which may mean deleting everything I have so far and starting from scratch. *prays to the writing gods that this won’t be necessary*
Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!
Danger by Dalliance
Sarah Rigdon is desperate. Penniless with taxes due, she can either beg mercy from the ruthless tax collector or turn to the last man she wants to ask for help. Archer Latimer stirs desires no proper lady would ever admit to. Though their meetings always end in quarrels, she can’t deny the heat between them. When he agrees to help, Sarah thinks her luck has turned. But she should have known nothing with Archer is ever easy.
Archer and his lover Warren Dorvee have spent years searching for the right woman to complete their family. Both believe luscious Sarah is the one and now have a chance to pursue her. After all, the price of Archer’s help is for Sarah to pose for Warren’s latest painting. Nude.
But trust has to be earned and a crisis in London threatens their love. The three must navigate through lust, lies and secrets or risk being torn apart forever.
Inside Scoop: Contains m/m, GLBT and ménage.

Weekend Writing Warriors-Danger by Dalliance Snippet 8
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. This comes immediately after last week’s snippet. Archer just informed Sarah that she would pose nude for his artist friend Warren. In exchange for that he would pay her father’s royalties early. He is pushing her to share the true reason for needing the money. You’re about to find out how successful he is! I have used some creative punctuation to give you the whole passage;)
“She jerked back and straightened, “What?”
Here we are; now she would have to tell him why she really needed the money and he could assist her with whatever her problem was.
She turned sheet white; panic glimmered in her eyes before she looked down and tugged on her cuffs.
Archer felt a little nauseated; it had not been his intention to scare her; he sat back down and waited for her surrender.
“All right.”
He struggled to control his expression, “Excuse me?”
Miss Rigdon looked back up, a mulish tilt to her chin, “I said all right.”
What the fuck am I supposed to do now? Talk about a plan rebounding.”
BEA was a lot of fun, but exhausting. The banana pudding was heavenly. If you like pudding and are heading to New York let me know. I will share the secret;). When I got home work exploded in my face, pretty much keeping me away from my computer for the whole week. Fingers crossed things will get a little bit better next week.

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. It comes a couple of lines after last week’s snippet. Archer is very attracted to Sarah, but she is not prepared to share the reason she needs money. Her distance drives him crazy and may have irked his temper a little bit. Not that she is calmness personified… I have used some creative punctuation;)
“Her tone of voice grated on his nerves: “If you were anyone else I would say pose for my friend, but I cannot see you being a model.”
She came half out of her chair. “And why on earth not? It is not exactly challenging to stand or sit while someone paints you.”
“Really?” He mirrored her pose and leaned forward until they were only a few inches apart. “Well then, if it is so easy let’s make this the condition for the early payment.”
“All right,” her easy acceptance drove him crazy. He still didn’t know why she needed the money, “And you will pose nude.”
I am travelling back from New York today, so it probably be Monday before I get a chance to read everyone’s snippets. I was at Book Expo America (BEA) and staying an extra day to enjoy the sights. And the banana pudding. A colleague of mine knows the best places for food across the city and I’m looking forward to discovering them;).

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. It comes a couple of paragraphs after last week’s snippet. Archer and Sarah are alone. She has asked Archer for an early payment of her father’s royalties, but will not tell him what she needs the money for. When he prods her she blurts out she needs a new wardrobe. His response follows and it may have been just a little snarky … I have used some creative punctuation;)
“Archer didn’t believe her-Sarah Rigdon was not the type of woman who would come to him asking for money for something as frivolous as new clothes. Hell, most of the time she was buried under so many layers she probably had enough clothes to last a lifetime. “Do you seriously expect me to believe you need more clothes?” He gestured at the three layers that covered her, “You appear to be wearing enough clothes to cover yourself and three more people.”
She narrowed her gaze; her nostrils flared: “Will you do it or not?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. What are you willing to do in exchange?”
Life at work is still crazy. Tangled Redemption isn’t coming together the way I like it, which means I have to push through the first draft and hope I can fix it in edits;).

Weekend Writing Warriors-Danger by Dalliance Snippet 5
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. It comes shortly after last week’s snippet. Warren has stepped out of the office again, leaving Archer and Sarah alone again. She has just blurted out her request for an early payment of her father’s royalties, but she will do everything in her power to stop him from finding out she needs the money because her father used the tax money for his latest invention. But this time Archer is not prepared to let her avoid him…
“She tilted her chin in that challenging manner of hers.
His temper flamed. It was bad enough that the little virgin and her voluptuous curves made him hard as a rock as soon as she walked into a room. She might look demure and meek, but deep inside her he sensed a passion that would set the world on fire if she ever released it; only he was sure she’d never done so.
Not that he ever got the opportunity to find out. She always looked at him as if he wasn’t worth her time, as if speaking to him was a strenuous task, and when he tried to engage her she excused herself within minutes.
And now she was asking him for a favor and still wouldn’t give an inch. Not this time. ”
I am travelling back from New Orleans today, so I am not sure when I will be able to read everyone’s snippet. The Romantic Times Convention was crazy, insane and a lot of fun. It was amazing to meet some of my favourite authors. When I get back home I will have to get my bum in the chair and get working on Tangled Redemption.

I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. It comes shortly after last week’s snippet. Sarah is sharing the reason for her visit with Archer when Warren interrupts them. Their combines presence has an impact on Sarah.
““Miss Rigdon, please let me introduce Warren Hugh Dorvee, a dear friend and housemate.”
Dorvee bowed, “At your service, Miss Rigdon.”
Sarah swallowed. Their combined gazes made her shiver. The office seemed unnaturally hot. Even in their somewhat casual state of dress Latimer and Dorvee dominated the room. She wanted to get up and touch them, rub her hand across Dorvee’s muscular abdomen and see if the dark hair on Latimer’s forearms, bared by the rolled-up sleeves, was as soft as it appeared.
These shocking thoughts pulled Sarah back from the brink. ”

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
Today’s snippet is from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. It follows on closely from last week’s. Sarah is now in Archer’s office and sharing the reason for her visit.
“I am here for two reasons,” she lifted the bag onto her lap and opened it. With a hiss the pneumatic shrinking device that matched the bag to whatever needed carrying released, and she removed a square metal box with two colored lights on the top. “This is my father’s latest invention; he calls it the Rigdon’s Banknote Verification Device.” She set it on the desk. “You feed a banknote in here,” she pointed to a slit on the side. “The RBVD will test it; if the note is false, the red light will flash.”
He stilled for a moment, his brow furrowed, before pulling the machine closer. “What made your father go in this direction?”
If you’d like to find out what happens next and don’t want to wait until next week, check out the excerpt here.
My editor loved the revisions of my steampunk Christmas novella, which really brightened my rather crappy week. I may have printed and framed the two emails…no, I didn’t frame them, but I did print them;). My day job has been utterly insane, which means I have made no progress with Tangled Redemption.
