Danger by Dalliance is “HOT! HOT! HOT!”
I was delighted the other day when I discovered that the wonderful Regina from Coffee Times Romance had awarded Danger by Dalliance 5 Cups, the highest rating they give. Her review is wonderful and describes Danger by Dalliance as “Hot! Hot! Hot!” and “one of the best steampunk romance novels I have ever read”.
Below is the full review and here is the link.
Happy Monday!
“Sarah Rigdon is desperate to keep her father safe and happy. Unfortunately, when it comes to money and anything sensible, her father has lost his way since her mother died. With no money and the tax man at the door, she knows she has to do something desperate.
Archer Latimer is an inventor with a secret; he is in love with his house mate Warren Dorvee an artist. The two men are lovers, but…he is also very attracted to Sarah and believes she could be their third. Too bad she seems to want nothing to do with him.
Warren Dorvee loves Archer very much and even though he has some misgivings about bringing another into their relationship, he is willing to do so.
When the tax collector offers Sarah a deal she knows would ruin her and her father, not to mention just plain creeps her out, she knows she has to find a way to get the money to pay their taxes right away. Sarah is attracted to Archer Latimer but she feels she cannot act on her attraction. Archer is a known playboy and she cannot do anything to besmirch her reputation. Desperate to get the money, Sarah takes her father’s latest invention to Latimer hoping he can make it work since Sarah’s father was not able to. With fake pound notes appearing everywhere and no way to tell whether a pound note is a fake or not, Sarah’s father’s machine could be just the thing to stop the counterfeiters. But Sarah is not the only one who is desperate, Archer wants Sarah for himself and Warren, and not just as a plaything but as their wife. So, Archer hatches a scheme to have Sarah pose nude for Warren in return for him giving her the money on her father’s royalties early. To his surprise Sarah agrees. However, they all get far more than they bargained for when one of the counterfeiters targets Sarah and her lovers. Will they be able to keep their relationship secret? Or will the counterfeiter have the last word?
Whew! Hot, hot, hot! Is about all I can say for this lovely novel. I made more than one trip to the kitchen for ice water, let me tell you! This has to be one of the best steampunk romance novels I have ever read. I just enjoyed it more than I can say. It has a wonderful plot and the descriptions of this alternate universe/time line are just spectacular. This is the first book I have read by Tina Christopher but I assure you it will not be the last. I plan to go and purchase ALL her books at the first opportunity. If you love steampunk with your romance, or in this case steaming erotic romance, then you do not want to miss this book, I highly recommend it!

Weekend Writing Warriors-Tangled Redemption Snippet 1
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
Today I am sharing the opening of my current WIP, Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series. It is not yet finished and has not been polished;). I don’t have a blurb yet either, but I will try and give you some context.
My heroine is Sydney. We meet her for the first time in Tangled Hunger, book 2 of the Celestial Surrender series. Circumstances I cannot go into without spoiling everything result in her being kidnapped by a Vampire who has the impossible task of balancing the survival of one with that of a galaxy. Tangled Redemption is a Sci-Fi story and takes place in a universe inhabited by humans, Vampires and Naema, a race that has been likened to angels. There is a tenuous peace between the three races, but a faction of the Vampires, the Ferals, does not want to bow down to human law. You could say there is a smidgeon of tension between them and the rest of the galaxy, expressed through a kill-on-sight order against them.
“When the Feral Vampire strode up to her, a malicious grin curving his thin lips, fangs glistening, Sydney Radnall knew she would never again allow anyone to take her blood. She would die first.
There were three of them. The other two stayed slightly behind, fanning out and blocking the entrance, which was programmed to only open from the outside.
Marissa, the young human that had been taken from Parvati at the same time as Sydney, stood at her side. Their shoulders bumped, Marissa’s shaking, but she raised her fists as if to fend off the three Vampires with her bare hands.
No way in fucking hell.
Sydney straightened her shoulders, rolled her neck and took a step forward; she smiled.”
I am looking forward to hearing your comments. I am making reasonable progress with the writing, although it took me nearly four days to finish this major scene I have been working on. I hope my American friends had a great long weekend.
Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!

Books, Books, Books!
A number of years ago I stumbled across a books called Tempting the Beast by Lora Leigh. I was pulled into the world and the characters. Now I have just finished Rule Breaker.
Rule Breaker is book 29 in the Breeds series. I have read pretty much each and every one of them with a couple of exception that were novellas in anthologies. You could say I am invested in finding out how the series continues.
I can’t imagine it being easy to maintain a series for this length of time. As I mentioned when I talked about Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series, I love how she is bringing the current arch to an end. J.D. Robb is a master at it. I have no idea how many In Death books there are, but every time you read one she grounds you in her world and gives you context who everyone is. I still enjoy Lora Leigh’s writing and I love seeing characters I’ve either followed on their journey or characters I want to see find their HEA, but I struggled with the first third of Rule Breaker.
The author expected you to remember everything and I didn’t. There was very little to ground me in the world or help to orientate myself on who was who. Some characters are more memorable, Jonas, for example, but he has appeared in every single book, but a lot of the names were without context to me. This meant I read one or two other books while Rule Breaker sat on my shelf. By the way, totally random side note, after 28 books that were ALL PAPERBACK, why the heck did they think it was a good decision to put book 29 into hardcover?! It is a bit of brick and a nightmare to lug around. And it totally doesn’t fit with all the other books on the shelf and nerd that I am I like my books to fit.
Anyway, the beginning was a little rough, but once the story got going and Gypsy Rum (yes, the names in this book were…interesting; not sure if that was on purpose or by accident) and Rule got together I was back in the story. If you like scorching hot sex and emotional roller-coaster rides Rule Breaker is the book for you.
What have you been reading recently that you loved?

Weekend Writing Warriors-Danger by Dalliance Snippet 11
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
This will be the final snippet from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. This comes shortly after last week’s snippet. Everything has been set in motion. Sarah will pose, nude, for Archer’s “housemate” in exchange for the money to pay off the evil tax collector. She should be frightened and worried for her reputation. Instead she is this…
““Would you like me to call you a hansom, Miss Rigdon?”
“No thank you, Jennings, I feel in need of fresh air.” She was only capable of a short smile before she stepped outside. Her heart raced and her knees nearly buckled.
She had only one problem. Sarah had no idea if this weakness was due to worry or excitement. The thought of spending more time with Warren Dorvee, the idea that Archer Latimer would be close by should make her shiver with dread.
Instead it made her tingle. ”
And this is the end of Chapter One. I hope you enjoyed our little excursion to Victorian London. One of the highlights of my week was when I stumbled across a 5 Cups Review (the best they give:) from Regina at Coffee Time Romance for Danger by Dalliance. She called it “HOT! HOT! HOT! (ice water was involved” and “one of the best steampunk romance novels she had ever read”. Let’s just say that was pretty epic for me;).
Next week I’ll either share from my WIP Tangled Redemption or from one of the other sci-fi books.

Books, Books, Books!
Hi there! I hope wherever you are in the world that summer is treating you to beautiful weather and the opportunity to be outside.
This week I want to share with you one of my favourite contemporary series. It is Jaci Burton’s Play by Play series. I’ll give you a minute to…admire the covers.
I have to say I have no interest whatsoever in sports. I have no idea about the rules of the games or why grown men and women get so excited about a bunch of super-fit men running after an egg-shaped ball, nearly killing each other over a flat vulcanised piece of rubber or smacking a ball with a wooden bat like there is no tomorrow.
But that doesn’t matter for this series. Jaci’s stories are what keep my bum glued to the chair. That and her characters (it doesn’t hurt that the books are HOT! HOT! HOT!;). The stories are compelling enough I can skim over the parts that I don’t understand. I imagine for fans of the relevant sport her details add to the story, but even without that I keep coming back to this series of siblings and friends all linked through their love of sport. I love a series where I revisit couples from a previous book or where I am introduced to the hero or heroine of the upcoming book as secondary characters. Jaci does an amazing job of keeping everything connected and making readers feel like they know the characters.
If you’re looking for some great contemporary reads with chemistry hot enough to burn your fingertips as you turn the page, give the Play by Play series a go. And there are quite a few, so you can binge without having to wait for months in between books.
What contemporary book or series do you count as one of your favourites?

Weekend Writing Warriors-Danger by Dalliance Snippet 10
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. This comes shortly after last week’s snippet. Sarah has just had a flashback to the creepy tax collector propositioning her and is weighing her options: pose nude or be at the mercy of the tax collector. Creative punctuation;).
“She straightened her shoulders, I have no choice. Whatever Mr. Dorvee planned couldn’t be as bad as the alternative.
Sarah met Latimer’s thoughtful gaze, “I trust your word.”
“Or you could tell me why you really need the money. No sane woman would risk her reputation for clothes.”
As much as she longed for someone to share the burden with, her father’s good name was hers to protect. Latimer could never know the truth. “Then you obviously know less about women than you thought; I will be back tomorrow morning.”
I have reworked the outline for Tangled Redemption and am back to writing, something I am very excited about. Happy start of summer! I am hoping it is finally here to stay. Usually by this time I have my fan running 24/7, but it hasn’t been warm enough for that. Fingers crossed it now will be;).
