October News

I have been locked away in my office finishing up Liam - my part of The Maddox Brothers. Ella Jade and I have come together to write a book together, each of us taking on a part of it to write. She has written a hot realtor named Hudson and I have the sexy younger brother who is a contractor named Liam. This book is now done and in edits, and it feels awesome. I'm very excited. We are having our cover reveal this week on the 20th.

Also this month, UNMISTAKABLE released! Woo-hoo! This is a book I never thought I'd finish writing. The hero was a tough one, but in the end, he ended up winning over my heart, and I hope readers too! Other than finishing up Liam and the release of Unmistakable, it's been a pretty quiet month in the author world, not so much in my personal life. Lots and lots of things going on there.

One of my next projects is to co-write/ghost write a book with an actor named Jason Lumberjack. He's got an awesome idea for a book and has asked me to help him bring it to life. I can't giveaway much info, but when it does come out, it's going to be a great book. Especially for anyone struggling in their marriage.

I am also tossing around another idea in my head. One that is a little more taboo. If I wrote it, I'd have to release under a new pen name because it's nothing Lacey would write. :)

If you haven't checked out Unmistakable, here is a little more info. I don't have much to report here in October, but be on the lookout for the cover reveal this week for The Maddox Brothers, which will be releasing on November 13th. This is my last book of 2015, and as of yet, I have nothing written for 2016. Though, I do have a novella to write that will be releasing in March in a sweet boxed set.

September News -Personal Thoughts and Updates

I so did not keep up with one of my goals last January --- to blog more . Man, this place sure has been neglected. I'd like to post once a moth with a "News" post, but you know, don't hold your breath. Ha ha! 

Anyway, the writing life is going okay. Not quite as well as I'd like. To be honest, I've been struggling a lot since last fall. There has been a shift in the market and some days I just want to hang up my hat and walk away. But I love writing! Love, love, love it! It's that love that keeps me here, doing my best to craft the best stories that I can.

If you've been a fan of mine these last few years, then you know I usually put out quite a bit of books a year. Are you scratching your head wondering what's going on this year? I've spent way too much time starting and stopping. Trying to push past negative thoughts. I've been working hard to be more positive and not worry about how others are doing and why I am not having their success. Our minds can be our worst enemies. So, if you've hung in with me this year, I thank you! I truly, truly do! I only know of a couple definite releases this year. Two this month and one in October. I am working on writing a book with Ella Jade right now where we are each writing a story with two brothers. We have a goal month to release, but nothing is set in stone yet.

This month you can expect.... The Hot Bods series is being put into a boxed set and for a limited time will be $1.99. I am excited about this. It's a great deal. And then Commit If You Dare is part of the Carly Phillips Kindle World. It will only be on Amazon.

And in October, you'll get the next story in The Gentleman's Club, and you'll meet the hero who I had to stop writing his story many, many times because he frustrated me to no ends.

What drew me to this anthology?

 When I heard about Beachwalk's psychic anthology, I got very excited! This kind of thing was right up my alley. I love anything supernatural and extraordinary, and to be honest, I'm slightly obsessed with super-heroes and comic book characters. I could only wish to walk through walls, fly through the air, and read thoughts like they do. If I could choose one psychic power or superhuman gift, it would be to move things with my mind. I find the idea of it absolutely intriguing. 

Lucky for me, I had a story I'd written a few years ago about a young girl who was telekinetic. She was homeless—an outcast because when she touched people she burned them, and nobody could stand to be near her. The electric charge she emitted was just too painful. It wasn’t ready for publishing, so Mote Highway stayed locked deep inside my plethora of digital documents waiting for the day I had time to clean it up. The moment I decided I wanted to make a submission for this cool anthology project, I unearthed it and made my female character older and sexier. Holly became a buxom woman of substance instead of a lost teenager, but still desperate to find a way out of the lonely and isolated life she'd been living. My male character Jacob grew up too. (in a big way) So I renamed it Taming Fury, befitting its new sizzling content—and it's so much deeper than the original tale I'd written long ago. 

Holly is a mind-moving Fury who electrifies all human flesh she touches. Even her own family has sent her packing. She moves things with her mind, manipulating fire with the flick of her finger, but she burns for the one thing that has never been an option for her—love. 

When she catches sight of the handsome man helping her new neighbor move in she longs to take a chance and introduce herself...to pretend to be normal just once. It could easily end in disaster, but surprisingly, when she shakes his hand, no mind-blowing electrocution follows, and she begins to hope. Still walking forward, Holly closed her eyes and reached for the damp motes of dust from the earth, gathering them in her fist while static electricity buzzed inside her gut. A tiny electric current snaked the length of her arm, starting from the back of her neck. The tug rolled from her fingers to the empty beer can on the ground near a small garbage can on the sidewalk. Up, she willed. Reaching, she willed it to rise, sure that no one would see this small thing. It slowly lifted a few inches above the ground and hovered. She swished her hand, slamming the aluminum can into the trash. Her mind was a powerful thing. And this one tiny action would suffice for now.

She burst through the door of the building, adrenaline fueling her courage. Mr. Perfect snapped his head up from his paperwork at the sound of the door slamming against the wall.

“Hi.” He swallowed, taking her curves in with his eyes. “How may I help you?”

The urge to surge had subsided. But the need to know this man had not. She stared at his chiseled cheekbones, strong jaw, and molten brown eyes from across the room. “Well, Holly.” He smiled widely. “Personal training requires some up-close and personal contact, and if I have to stay seven arms’ lengths away…” He took another step toward her. “May I? I’m not afraid of a few germs.”

She cringed and stepped back. Her courage was fading fast. Jacob’s cellphone rang in his pocket and he pulled it out, clicking the ON button. He put it to his ear.

“Hello?” His eyes darted back to Holly’s. “I’m with a client right now, can I call you back?”

This was a very good sign.

He grinned. “You smell delicious.”

Her eyes widened.

“When am I going to get to try one of your cupcakes?”

Was that a euphemism? Of course not. He was being completely literal here. She blinked and watched a droplet of water run down the side of his face, down his stubbled, square jaw. Talk, Penny. “Um…tomorrow. Come downstairs tomorrow and I’ll give you a taste…of, um, my cupcake.” She shook her head. “I mean, a cupcake.”

He nodded and grinned again, those flashing dimples carving lines in his cheeks. “Look forward to it.” He released her elbow and headed to his room.

Penny sucked in a deep breath and continued to her own room.

It was Jonathon. Yes, she found him attractive. Very attractive. Any warm-blooded female would. But it meant absolutely nothing.

She turned to make her escape so she couldn’t do something embarrassing. He might already think the kiss was too forward, but she couldn’t seem to help herself. It was impulsive, but worth it to have her lips on him, even if for a fleeting moment. 

“Wait.” He took her hand, keeping her in the car. 

She shifted her position so she was facing him again. 

“I think we can do better than that.” He leaned into her, taking her face between his hands, licking his lips as he focused on hers. 

He’s going to kiss me. Like really kiss me! 

“Not that your kiss wasn’t sweet, but...” He brushed his mouth along her jaw, slowly working his way to her lips. “Can I kiss you, Aurora?” 

“Yeah.” She’d waited years for a proper kiss from him. “Anyway you want.” 

“Like this,” he spoke against her lips. “Slow, so I can savor you.” 

“Hmm...” She shivered as his words vibrated into her mouth. Maybe she wasn’t just amusing to him. Maybe he could see her as a woman capable of being with him. 

He tilted her face to the side, kissing her. Tender at first, but then, as he deepened their connection, so did the intensity. She tingled in places she hadn’t felt anything in for so long. The fire in her belly spread lower until she had to squeeze her thighs together in an attempt to create some friction there to ease the warm ache. 

Releasing her, he smoothed out her hair as he placed soft kisses across her lips. The heat of his mouth left an impression on hers. She darted her tongue out and ran it along her lips, tasting him, needing to remember everything about their first kiss. The one she had dreamed about for so long. The kiss she never thought she’d get to experience except in her wildest fantasies. It was totally worth the wait. 

“Good night, Aurora,” he whispered. “You’ve given me much to ponder.” 

“Don’t think too hard.” She reached for the door handle. “That always tends to screw things up.” 

“That’s probably some of the best advice I’ve ever received.” 

“Who would have thought I could come up with something so useful?” 

 “I have a feeling you’re very useful.”

“We’re not going to do it.” Rosalie wiggled out of Holt's hold and slipped off the counter, taking a few steps back to create some distance as she fixed her bra and shirt. How fast things heat up?”“That’s not a problem for me. She hadn’t had that many partners, and the few sexual encounters she had were usually with frat guys who’d had too much to drink. “But a relationship can’t be about sex and nothing else.”“A relationship?” Confusion spread across his face faster than poison ivy covered the skin, but he looked just as uncomfortable as he would if he were suffering from the itchy condition.“A foreign concept to you, I know. I just said don’t believe everything they print about me.” He grinned, probably because he was impressed with some of the things printed about him. “If you change your mind about me and you, I promise you won’t regret it.”“You’re something, but I’m going to pass.” She pulled the hair tie from her hair and redid her ponytail. “Unless you want to grab dinner or something and we could get to know one another. See if there can be more than sex between us.”“Like a date?” More confusion.“Another foreign concept?”“We’re wasting time with this conversation.”“I don’t think we are. It’s all very telling.”“How are we ever going to hit the sheets, princess, if you don’t get these silly fairytale ideas out of your head?”“That’s not the problem.”“It isn’t?” His towel dipped lower than before, exposing more of that complex tattoo of his. How she ached to see the whole thing.“The question should be how are we ever going to hit the sheets if you don’t start believing in fairytales?”
