April News - A little vacation...

Picture April already?! Seriously. Wow. Time sure does fly. I've been busy with writing, but recently took a little time off while the kids were on spring break. We went to Virginia Beach to visit my husband's sister and her kids. It was fun to get away for a few days and have no responsibility. No house to clean, no thinking about all my upcoming deadlines that have my head spinning. It was great to just have some fun. Play with my nieces and nephews and I even got to meet a friend/reader while I was there.

Those are my kiddos on the beach. It was chilly, but we still got out there. My daughter is 9 and my son is 11. They look so small in the photo, lol. Like kids, usually when I look at them, all I see are these growing, grumpy tiny teens who call me mom. Picture We stopped at a place called South of The Border in South Carolina and the kids sat on these giant chickens. I have some cute photos of my nieces and nephew too with all the statues. Great memories were made.  Picture
This is me (in the crazy bird shirt), when I met Shelly Small. We enjoyed coffee together and book talk. I really LOVE to chat books and writing.

***

But now I'm home and this week is back to the grind. I have a goal to finish up Strangers At The Altar this week. I hope I can. You see, I'm totally not writing at the moment and doing this blog instead. Want to know why? It's time to write that dreaded black moment. You know the one where the romance crashes away. Only my hero has himself in a pickle. Even I'm not sure he can get his way out of it. He's really broken the trust to my heroine.

Guess my billionaire has a lot of groveling to do to get back his love. Too bad money can't buy love.

True Love in Laguna is currently in edits and is on schedule to release in July as intended. Strangers At The Altar will be coming at the end of May or beginning of June. I'm not sure yet. It depends on if I actually finish the book this week and how quickly edits go.

I do want to get this story in your hands. I think you're going to love it. I've had fun writing it and even admit to liking writing in first person. Not something I thought I'd ever like, but I do! This story has brought back my love for writing and just creating.

I really don't have a lot to chat about this month. I hope to reveal the release date soon for Strangers At The Altar, as well as an excerpt. Check back soon! -Lacey

New Cover - Strangers At First Sight

Picture I have been working HARD on this novel. As well, it's written differently. In first person. I've only done it one other time when I wrote Hypnotized, which is a new adult and the style for those is usually first person. However, first person has moved into the romance genre. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted to attempt it, but then I decided what the heck? If I want to grow in my writing and learn new things, I should give it a try. I'm surprised that I've liked it. You see, I sometimes I really deep inner dialogue I want to add when I write third person. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. With first person, it almost always works. I've written fast too. I can sit down and crank out 1000 words in no time when I write this way. Now, being that it's only my second time attempting this, I'm sure I have a lot to learn. So I think I'll try again with another story so I can improve my writing skills. Does that mean I'll always write first person. Nope. Maybe I'll start to let the characters decided, the same way I let them choose if the story is going to be sweet, sensual, and erotic. And Strangers At The Altar is taking a turn toward the erotic side.  About Strangers At The Altar... I’m the whole package.
Rich.
Sexy as hell.
Brilliant in bed and business.
Big cock.
So why the hell is it so hard to settle down? I want a woman to see me for who I am, and that’s hard when most only see me with dollar signs in their eyes. So I signed up for some crazy experiment to be married to a stranger. Never knowing a thing about the person.
I was ready for true love. When I married Adeline at the altar, not knowing a thing about her, I knew I had to make sure that she didn’t know a thing about me as well. So I did what I thought was best. I lied about who I was.
If we find true love, I’m sure she will forgive me when she learns who I am. Does that blurb have your attention? It has mine.

I'm tossing around two different release dates at the moment, so be on the look out for this book to release either May 31st, 2016 or June 7th, 2016.

March news - Stay positive!

Spring is finally here. Warmer weather should be gracing us soon and before we know it, summer will be here and those hot temps. It's been awhile since I sat down and wrote about what I'm doing in this writing world. I have been busy. I hit a bit of depression last fall and I stopped writing almost all together. It was a hard year for me financially in writing and my personal life. One of those years where we kept saying, "What's next?" It really took a toll on me and my creativity.

I am still writing and pushed through the depression. Starting in mid January I decided to look at writing different. I'd committed to several project for this year, all of which release in July and August. I know what I am capable of writing when I apply myself. At first, I thought about canceling some of the projects because I took on quite a bit, but then told myself no. These projects will help get my name out there more and that's important. I can't let the negative thoughts win anymore. So, I've gone back to having word goals. I gave it up for quite some time, not wanting to feel like I had to write x amount by a certain time. I love writing, but this is my job an I need to set deadlines and have expectations for myself. I have set realistic goals on when I need things done. This has helped me so much. I no longer feel sad that I'm not writing or like a failure. I come into my office Monday-Friday get my words down first thing and move onto other projects.

I'm currently juggling quite a bit. Since January I have:

**Finished writing Cleaning Up Love
**Written Steal Me, Cowboy (Carver Ranch 4) and is currently waiting approval from Beachwalk Press.
**Written True Love in Laguna, it's in draft 2 and about to go to my editor.
**Started to write a new project called Strangers At The Altar.
**Plotted out my next book in the Carly Phillips world
**Need to plot out a book that will be in a bull rider boxed set.

All those things above will release between June - September, minus Cleaning Up Love that came out in February and again in March in the Spring Into Romance boxed set.

When I see that above, I know I am capable of so much more than negative thoughts and self doubt. I am still working on training the voices in my head to be positive. That is my downfall. I can let those voices ruin my whole day. I have been working hard to quiet those voices and stay positive. 2016 is going to be a great year because I won't accept anything less. 2015 is in the past and I can't dwell on it. I live in the present and dream about the future.

I hope that 2016 has been good to you so far. As I keep saying, I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to keep on writing and not give up.

Cleaning Up Love is available now!

Picture My sweet romance Cleaning Up Love is available now! I'm really excited to share this novella with you. I think it's a very sweet and sexy story. Yes, it's sexy even though it's a sweet one with closed door intimate scenes. That doesn't mean we don't know how much my hero and heroine desire the other one.

***

Penny Watson has run away from her past, hoping to never return to it again. She spends her days being the housekeeper to celebrity Brock Foxx. Things change when photos are snapped by the paparazzi when he treats her to a friendly dinner.

Brock Foxx has been acting for as long as he can remember, but with a nasty scandal in the headlines, he isn’t sure what’s left of his career. After one photo is taken of him and his gorgeous housekeeper Penny looking smitten with one another, a new web of lies starts. Only these lies he wants to become the truth.

Before long, Penny is swept up in the spotlight as Brock Foxx’s latest fling. While she should be loving it, she’s also worried that the men she’s running from will find her.
Picture  Amazon - Nook - ITunes - AllRomance Excerpt “You’re always so quiet. Why?” he asked.
This was a question she was familiar with. Even as a child, people always asked if there was something wrong with her or if she was mute. She learned at an early age to shut her mouth, unlike her older sister who argued, even as their father beat her. Melinda never stopped, which made it that much worse.
“I don’t have much to say.”
“I think you do, and I’d love to hear it. You have a beautiful voice.”
No one had ever said that before. She wasn’t used to compliments; she was used to being told everything she did was wrong. “Thank you.”
“No need to thank me.” He scooped up eggs onto his fork. “Tell me about you.”
She tore a piece of bacon in half. “I really don’t want to talk about me. Anything else but me.”
“Don’t deny me the one conversation I want to have. You’re a mystery, Penny. A gorgeous one.”
Her cheeks warmed. Brock was a smooth talker and called every woman beautiful—or she hoped. There was no way he’d pay her any attention. Especially not now. Her hair was in a messy bun, and she was still her pajamas.
Oh God!
She was wearing a T-shirt that had seen better days.
“Since you won’t give me what I want, I guess I should jump to the reason I wanted to butter you up with this breakfast.”
“You need me to clean it up?”
“It’s your day off. This is my mess today.” He winked.
“I don’t mind.”
He groaned. “I’m capable of cleaning up. Now eat and listen.”
Listening she was good at.
“I don’t know if you’ve seen today’s headlines.” He set his fork down. Something in her gut knew she’d been in it. “I want to apologize our dinner was interrupted last night. I was having a great time with you. It’s been so long since I went out with someone who wanted to be there for the companionship and not because of my status. Anyway.” He cleared his throat. “One reporter—several got our photos—did a different spin on us being out. Other than the main one about me being a creep. She caught just the right image.”
Brock pulled his phone from his pocket and tapped away on it before handing it to her.
She stared at a photo of him with an expression that said ‘love’. The photo under it was her, with a similar look. Did someone Photoshop these? She scrolled down reading a short article about wanting to know who the mystery woman was that had Brock Foxx falling head over heels in love.
In love?
She handed the phone back.
“My agent has this crazy idea. He thinks you’re my perfect alibi to get out of this mess I am in.”
“Me?” How could she possibly help?
“Yes, and without my permission, he sort of got the ball rolling already.”
She ran her palm along her cheek. “I don’t understand.”
“These photos of us portray love and he wants to use that.”
“Brock, just spit it out.” She had to hear him say it, because she had a really good idea where this was heading.
“You and I need to pretend we’re dating and announce that we’ve been together all along. You’ll counteract Sylvia’s story because I was with you when she claimed I hit her.”
“Oh, I don’t know.” She couldn’t be in the spotlight.
“I told my agent that, but he went ahead and did it anyway.” He lifted his glass. “I might be in the market for a new agent, and you’re about to get fifteen minutes of fame.”
She stood from the stool and walked out of the kitchen. When she got to the back door of his home, she ran toward the guest house.
Once inside her small place, she knew what she had to do, pack her things and quit. That was the only option. There was no way she could do what Brock was asking. Things had been good here. She’d been hiding out, staying safe. But if he thought she had money, he’d find her in a heartbeat and do whatever he had to until she paid him.

I confess: I'm addicted to planners...

Picture I've had a little bit of an addiction since late July/early August. I'm an addict... to planners .

It started when I had friends on Facebook sharing these adorable photos of their planners. They decorated them with washi tape and stickers. All I could do was think... I WANT TO DO THAT! I had a $5 walmart planner I'd been using, but wasn't religious in using it. Many of my friends were using the Erin Condren Life Planner. It's a very nice planner, but to pricey for me if I'm being honest (struggling writer and all). I ended up going with The Happy Planner. It's set up the same way as the Erin Condren, and its disc bound so you can add pages and remove, unlike with spiral bound. And I was happy. I loved my Happy Planner. I've been so much more organized since getting it. Staying on task, etc.

So what happened?
Periscope happened. Periscope is a fairly new social media site. You watch people live or on a replay for 24 hours after their broadcast. You can kill some time on this site, and when you're an author stuck in a rut with too many hours on your hands and kids at school, you live on it. It was then I discovered the Travelers Notebook--ok, I blame my good friend Lindsey for that one. She has the most adorable system that works for her. See her Instagram HERE. So of course, I had to try her system. However, it didn't work for me. I use my travelors notebook now as just a folder full of booklets to jot ideas for books, a brain dump station, and place to jot down goals for myself, life, and work. I didn't find planner peace in it. It's adorable though, this is the one I have. It's from SewWhatElseIsNew. The link will take you to her Instagram to see all her adorable fauxdoris. A link is in her bio to her Etsy shop. Picture  What came next?

I kept seeing people putting their Happy Planners into A5 ring bounds, such as a Carpe Diem or Kikki-K. I do NOT have an A5 and it's been hell resisting getting one. I've had one in the cart so many times, but for some reason, I just haven't clicked purchase.

Sigh...

But my confession isn't over. Did you really think I'd just settle on just my Happy Planner?

do have another planner system I've been forcing myself to love. Forcing? Sounds crazy, huh? Due to periscope, followed by too many YouTube videos, I became obsessed with the personal sized planner. I have two, a Webster Pages Color Crush and a butterfly Kikki-K. Picture Picture I love the customization of these binders. They are small though. They look much bigger in the photo, trust me! The pages are 3.75 inches by 6.75 inches. Tiny, but I got used to it. I liked making dividers and bookmarks so I could easily get to areas. I then decided to put my person life in this binder and use my Happy Planner for work. Two weeks later, I HATED having two planners. I'm not a two planner girl, I'm a one planner girl.

So, I ditched my Happy Planner and got inserts for my personal life and another set for author life. For two days I was happy. Everything was in one binder, I had a section for my to-do list, finance stuff, calendars, etc. But damn it! I HATED flipping from one section to the next and found I was forgetting to get stuff done in either my person life or work life. I needed everything on one page and the personal sized planner is not going to offer that. It's just too small. I also felt as though I needed to it be smaller so I could take it with me.

I NEVER LEAVE ME HOUSE. I work from home and the only time I leave is to go to the grocery store, coffee with friends, the rare two times a year I go to the doctors. Why do I need to bring my planner with me? I don't! The few times I have taken it with me, I didn't use it, other than to look at the grocery list. And do I really need a planner for a grocery list... no!

And to be honest, I have missed my Happy Planner. I started with her (yes, it's a girl). I've bought a way too expensive cover for it. I can customize it since it's a disc bound system.

However... (yeah, did you really think I could be happy?)
I feel like my unicorn of a planner would be a Plum Paper Planner vertical lined (no times) or a The1407Planners vertical lined. What I don't like about the Happy Planner is the boxes. I just want a single column line. A part of me is wondering if I should purchase one of those. I'm leaning toward The1407Planners because I like the added sections she has in the planner itself. But then I go spiral bound, and I wonder if I'd like it. I think I wouldn't care because...time to be honest again...I haven't added anything to my Happy Planner even though it's disc bound.

Is it possible to find planner peace? I think in my quest so far, I have found that I need the bigger planner and need only one. Idealy I want a vertical set-up, lined column with no boxes. To spend the $40 to find out if that's what I need or just use my Happy Planner for the rest of 2016?

Seriously, I told you, this is an addiction. Anyone reading this a planner girl/addict??? What would you do?

Need to see my whole process so far, check out my Instagram HERE. Picture My daughter likes to plan too Picture My design for Christmas in my Happy Planner

November 20, 2015

November news and personal thoughts.

Happy November! I hope you're having a great month. This one has flown by. I'm so not ready for the holidays this year, are you? November has been a fun month. I've been writing a sweet novella for an upcoming boxed set. My story is titled Cleaning Up Love. Not sure the name of the boxed set yet. It will release in March 2016. It's been fun writing sweet, I must admit. Though, it is hard not to use the bad words. Sometimes that feels a little unnatural to me, not having a man cuss. It's also hard to make the man alpha like, but I created a great guy, I think. He's a movie star who has gotten himself some bad press, and his house keeper Penny is helping him get out of that mess by being his fiancée. Yes, I know, not super original in plot, but I love fake fiancée and wife stories. And they are fun to write. Picture The Maddox Brothers has released and I'm so happy that in 2 days of release, it landed on several Amazon best seller lists! Yay!!! Go Hudson and Liam. It isn't currently in the top 100 anymore in the categories, but it's still doing very well. Ella and I are very proud of this book. Up next, it will be going to paper back. I can't wait to get this book in my hands.

If you've not grabbed a copy and want one, it's still $1.99. This is a limited-time offer and it will be going up in price in another week, I think. AMAZON - NOOK - ITUNES - ALL ROMANCE This has been an okay year. Yesterday I went over my sales of books spreadsheet, updating info. The year hasn't been as good as past years. It's been one of those years where I've really struggled as a writer to hold on at times. I am thankful for every one of my readers, and they are the reason I keep going. The books they ask for. I've been published 4 years now. It does bother me sometimes not to be a USA or NYT best selling author. I would love to have that above my name on book covers.

But I have to stop and look at all the things I have accomplished. When I got to my About Me page and see the books of mine that have been on Amazon lists and best sellers at All Romance, I have to just remind myself that these are great accomplishments. The book market has it's ups and down. Staying positive is hard sometimes. Picture Pushing forward. I'm not sure what I have in store for writing. It's not been my most creative year. Other than the sweet novella I am currently writing, I don't have anything else in the works. I don't typically write during December, taking the whole month off and then getting back to writing in January. I imagine the end of summer and fall will be my busy time again, like this past year.

Thank you to my readers for hanging in with me. If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you have a delicious meal.

See ya next month!

Brotherly Love - The Maddox Brothers

Ella Jade and I have always loved The Property Brothers, and it's no secret that they were our inspiration behind our joint writing adventure. Even though our two brothers aren't twins and HGTV TV hosts, we really admired the bond the two brothers had and hoped we could show it in our book with our two brothers, Hudson and Liam.

The last two days, I teased you with a Hudson and Kennedy teaser and a Liam and Chelsea. Today, get to know the boys away the women. Excerpt from Hudson, written by Ella Jade Hudson finished his beer, just as Liam came through the back door and into the kitchen. He placed the Chinese takeout bags on the counter. Hudson wasn’t in the mood for company, but Liam insisted.
“Started without me?” Liam asked.
“Just one.” Hudson tossed his brother a beer before taking the containers out of the bags and opening them. He grabbed two plates from the cabinet. “I had a trying afternoon.” Except for the outstanding sex, he didn’t have anything else to brag about.
“What happened?”
“It’s not worth talking about over dinner.” Hudson put some chicken fried rice on his plate. “Sorry about your crew.”
“What about them?” Liam bit into an egg roll. “Last I checked they were still at Kennedy’s place making some good progress.”
“What?” Hudson cracked open another beer. “She didn’t throw them out?”
“No, did she throw you out?” Liam laughed. “What? Did she realize you weren’t worth ten grand? That was quick.”
“She freaked when I told her I was sending your guys.”
“She didn’t possibly think she was going to meet your deadline by herself, did she?”
“Apparently.”
“Hmm, a bit of a loose cannon, huh?”
You have no idea.
“How does she fit into your perfectly neat, little OCD life?”
“She doesn’t.” He sipped his beer. “I think that’s why she’s so intriguing.”
“Wow.”
“What?”
“Is the most eligible bachelor stepping down?” Liam dumped some Mongolian beef on his plate. “Now there’s a shock.”
“You want the title?”
“Hell, no.” Liam reached for the container of rice. “Mom is already bugging me for the next auction. After that public kiss between you and Kennedy she thinks you’re getting married.”
“Hardly.”
“But it’s serious?”
“Maybe.” Hudson didn’t want to think about it. “What about you?”
“What about me?”
“Do you ever get tired of being single?” Hudson needed to address the fact that he was working with his brother’s ex-girlfriend, but Chelsea had been so undecided about moving back to Morgan that Hudson didn’t want to bring it up.
“No.” He downed his beer. “You know I don’t want to settle down, like, ever.”
“I know that was true before, I mean, after Chels, but–”
“Whoa!” Liam put up his hand. “Now there’s a name we haven’t mentioned in a long time and I’d prefer to keep it that way.”
“I was thinking–”
“Don’t think about me.” His brother clearly didn’t want to talk about his ex.  Picture Coming November 13th!

Meet Liam Maddox...

Picture Coming November 13th - The Maddox Brothers

Yesterday you met Hudson, today meet the brother I write, Liam. He's content in his bachelor ways after having his heart shattered fourteen years ago by the only woman he ever loved. But Chelsea is back and has hired his construction company to do her renovations. Feelings start to resurface...

Enjoy this teaser of Liam! Liam and Chelsea Picture Picture Chelsea curled up to the side of the couch then grabbed the sandwich off her plate. She’d debated going out for dinner, but none of her friends were available. Then she thought about going to her parents. She soon talked herself out of that. They’d never been close, and still to this day, wanted to tell her how she should live her life. Apparently moving back to Morgan had been a bad idea and they wanted her to come to Boston with them.
Tomorrow would be a long work day, so she might as well stay in and veg with a Netflix marathon.
Unfortunately, she was having a hard time concentrating on the TV. Ever since Liam had left, she smelled him everywhere. That woodsy scent from his aftershave. It was everywhere because he’d been in each room. She sighed. After she finished her meal, she’d use air freshener to get rid of his scent. She couldn’t handle thinking about his muscles anymore. Or his dark hair that she wanted to run her fingers through.
She set the sandwich down, realizing she’d been squeezing it as her finger prints were indented in the bread.
Thank God she had a date this coming Friday with William, who was also a very attractive man. Hopefully the date would be amazing and she’d forget who the hell Liam was. As if that was possible.
She heard a car door shut out front and hopped off the couch. She peeked through the window next to the door as a taxi drove off and noticed Liam, his steps heavy and his eyes almost looked dangerous with lust.
He banged on the door and she wondered if she should ignore him, but then he knocked again. If she knew Liam, and boy did she, he wasn’t going to leave. Taking a deep breath, she yanked the tough door open, prepared to tell him to leave. But before she could speak, his lips were on hers. His tongue slipped in, mingling with hers, the taste of scotch meeting her senses. He gripped her waist, his fingers digging in, almost daring her to try to move away.
She cupped his face, lifting onto her toes. This was almost as good as the first time he’d kissed her when she was sixteen. Whenever Liam’s mouth met hers, her toes wanted to curl. He was amazing. She could kiss him for hours. In all these years, no one had made her feel this way. Hell, she’d drop her panties right now for him—he was that good of a kisser.
Liam moved away, his eyes dark with passion. But before she could speak, he turned and marched toward her porch.
“Where are you going?” she asked, unsure of what the hell was going on.
“Home.”
She sighed then grabbed the door, wishing it wasn’t so screwed up that she could slam it. As she was about to shove it shut, he stopped at the end of her driveway.
“Don’t you dare go out with William.” He walked down the sidewalk, not looking at her again.
She slammed the door as best she could then smacked it hard. Who the hell did he think he was? Coming here, tasting of alcohol, kissing her until her panties were soaked, then leaving, all while demanding she not see another man.
Liam had another thing coming if he thought he could tell her what to do.

Meet Hudson Maddox....

Picture Coming November 13th, 2015 - The Maddox Brothers.

Let me introduce you to Hudson, the oldest brother. He's a successful real estate attorney who doesn't hold back, knowing exactly what he wants in life. He freely gives his advice, even when the person on the other end isn't asking. Happy in his bachelor ways, he doesn't see Kennedy coming and that's when things change...

Enjoy this Hudson teaser and be on the look out for his story later this week! This sexy alpha male really heats the pages up!

Hudson is written by Ella Jade. Meet Hudson and Kennedy Picture Picture “I don’t call in favors,” she said as she crossed her arms over her chest. She took her resentment out on the wrong person, but he was the only man standing in front of her, and she was tired of having to defend herself in an industry littered with men who insisted there was no place for her.
“The fact of the matter, Ms. Harper, is that you didn’t have water two hours ago when Liam called me and now you do. So maybe you did need a favor.”
“God, you’re smug.”
“Call it whatever you’d like, but I stopped your hemorrhaging on a place you paid too much for.”
“Weren’t you responsible for the price?”
“I can only advise my clients. I can’t stop them from making financial mistakes.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but couldn’t think of anything witty to say. He was right.
Her father informed her that the agent thought they were bidding too high, but she saw potential in the property and didn’t want to lose it.
“Maybe you should just thank me and go flip your house.” He smirked as he stared directly into her eyes. His intense gaze caused her stomach to quiver. “You are capable of doing that, are you not?”
“Of course I am.” What is that supposed to mean?
“Well, let’s hope your renovating skills are better than your negotiating skills.” He turned and headed for his sleek, black Mercedes. That car probably cost more than the junky, little fixer-upper she stood in front of. “Have your father call me when he’s ready to sell.”
Jerk! She turned on her heel, pulled the creaky door open and stormed inside, slamming it hard enough to rattle the unstable walls. Damn him! Who the hell did he think he was?
Showing up here all sexy and panty-dropping delicious in his designer clothes and expensive car? Smelling all clean and lickable. Saving the day, like she was some damsel in distress.
She stared down at the envelope in her hand. Crap! He did save the day.  Picture
