EXCERPT FROM Strawberries and Whipped Cream
We ate dinner, drank some wine, and talked about our week. Maybe tonight I would finally pop the question. After cleaning up, I refilled our glasses.
Did you get something for dessert? Emma asked.
I smiled. "Yes, I did. Why don't you go into the living room and make yourself comfortable while I get it ready."
Okay. Are you sure you don't need help?
I'm sure.
After she left the kitchen, I gathered the bowl of strawberries and can whipped cream from the fridge. I walked in the room to find her on the couch, sipping her wine. I sat down next to her and placed the food on the coffee table.
I love strawberries, but why the can of whipped cream? she asked with a twinkle in her eyes.
Close your eyes. No peeking, I whispered in her ear.
I took a strawberry and traced her bottom lip with it. She opened her mouth slightly, and I allowed her to take a small bite. A low moan escaped her lips, and my dick twitched in response. I began to feed her another piece of fruit. My cock was getting harder by the minute as I watched her lips wrap around the strawberries.
I want to feed you one, she said as she opened her eyes.
I have a better idea. Close your eyes, I said in a deep voice.
Emma sighed and closed her eyes. I picked up a strawberry and touched her bottom lip with it, and she opened her mouth to take it in. I leaned in and bit the other end, letting our lips meet and eliciting a faint squeal from her.
Would you like some whipped cream? I asked her as I grabbed the can and shook it.
Yes, she whimpered.
I squirted some whipped cream on her bottom lip. She seductively licked them while looking at me lustfully. I groaned, shifted to adjust myself, and placed my lips on hers. She wrapped her arms around me and the kiss deepened. Our tongues rubbed against each other. She tasted like whipped cream. Pulling away, I placed kisses down her neck and made my way to her chest. I lifted her shirt over her head. She was wearing a pink lace bra.
Beautiful, I whispered as I reached around her and unhooked her bra. I slid the straps off her arms, placing more kisses on her neck. "Lay back," I told her as I took my shirt off.
I unbuttoned her jeans and slowly unzipped them. She lifted herself up as I slid them down her amazing legs and threw them on the floor. She was a sight to behold in just a pair of pink boy shorts.
Do you trust me? I asked.
EXCERPT FROM Instant Attraction
We walked out of the restaurant and down the hall into the main lobby of the hotel, my eyes scanning for any photographers. I really didn't want my face all over the tabloids tomorrow.
I had a great time meeting you today. So, what now? Slade asked as he looked deep into my eyes.
I don't know, I whispered. I didn't want the afternoon to end.
I don't want to leave you just yet, Jewel, he whispered in a sexy tone.
I bit my bottom lip and started to fidget. "Then don't." I took a deep breath, trying to figure out everything that was racing through my head. "Would you like to come to my suite for a drink, maybe?" I couldn't believe I'd just asked him that, but I knew what I wanted, and at the moment it was him.
I thought you'd never ask.
We stepped in the elevator and the doors closed. We were alone. Before I could process what I was doing I was kissing him. The simple kiss set all the nerves in my body on fire. The elevator stopped and I pulled away as the doors opened.
This is my floor, I said breathlessly.
We walked into the hallway in silence. The tension between us was so strong. We reached my suite and I swiped my card to open the door. I could feel his gaze on me, it was making me nervous and turning me on at the same time. My stomach was in knots as I walked in, but not the bad kind of knots, the I-want-to-jump-him kind of knots. He was making me crazy. I truly just wanted to go with what I was feeling. I was so attracted to him. As soon as the door shut Slade pushed me against the wall and started kissing me.
Jewel, you are so alluring, he said as he kissed my neck.
Slade, I moaned. I could feel how hard he was as he pressed harder into me.
I want you, he said as his hand grazed my breast. "Do you want me?"
Yes! My heart was pounding in my chest as I led him to the bed. His urgent lips were on mine. He unzipped my sundress and it fell to the floor, leaving me in only a black lace bra and thong.
So sexy, he whispered in my ear as he kissed my neck.
EXCERPT FROM The Great Outdoors
Once I knew it was safe, I took off on my horse. I looked back to see that Kristen was in hot pursuit. I enjoyed the feeling of an all-out run with this amazing creature under me. I tugged on the reins and slowed as we came to the opening of the meadow. I dismounted and watched Kristen slow her horse to a stop and dismount with ease and grace.
“This place is beautiful,” she said as she looked around the meadow.
“I found it a few years ago. I used to come here for some peace and quiet,” I responded as I laid out the blanket. “Sit, let’s have lunch, then we can walk around and explore,” I said as I gave her one of my panty-dropping smirks. I knew how to push her buttons.
“Explore?” She had a twinkle in her eye. “Why, cowboy, what do you have in mind?” she asked in her best southern drawl.
“Let’s eat first.” I unloaded the picnic basket and laid out the food.
It was a beautiful Texas afternoon. We talked and joked as we lay on the blanket, feeding each other grapes and cheese. I could have stayed there forever with her. We finished our lunch and cleaned up. I pulled her toward me and planted a hard, passionate kiss on her lips. She moaned and I took the moment to slide my tongue in her mouth and against hers. Our hands roamed up and down each other’s bodies.
Suddenly, she pulled away and took off running. “Catch me if you can!” she goaded me.
I let her get a head start. I watched as she unbuttoned her shirt, slid it off, and discarded it. My girl was naughty! Her bra came off next and she tossed it to the side. She turned and looked at me, tipped her cowboy hat, smirked, and ran like hell deeper into the meadow.

Writing Goals
It's common as a writer to have goals. So far, my goals as far as my career on are on track. A few changes came, such as I am doing more contemporary romance now then erotic, but a contemporary can still be just as sexy.
I've always set word count goals as well. But to be honest, I've never made myself keep them. Well, that changed with my latest work in progress. I wanted to have it done by the end of September, in revisions in the beginning of October, and hitting the slush piles by mid October. That's a lot of work, considering my goal is to write 50,000 words. To this date, my longest published work is 30,000 words.
I am happy to say that Bidding Wars just hit 30,000 words and still has a lot more story to tell. My goal currently is 10,000 words a week. That way if I have a day it just isn't flowing, versus a day it is, I don't feel any pressure to write a certain amount a day. And its worked well. I've completed that goal each week.
Now that I have comfortably completed that goal for the last three weeks, its time to push it a little. I'd like to say 15,000 this week, but that might be pushing it. So, I am going to go with 12,000.
I am loving this story and its flowing. I have two readers, reading it as I write, giving me excellent feedback. I know the places I need to go back and work on-- when these pesky characters quit pushing me forward in the story. But, I have the notes written down, and the changes may come when its complete.
Pushing on and upward, that's my motto with this book. I hope to see great things come from it. I for one have been putting my heart and sole into it.
Wish me luck! I might need it, the hubby is on vacation next week.

Spotlight - Sinful Urges - Sonia Hightower
I have the awesome Sonia Hoghtower on the blog today. September is a BIG month for her. She is relaunching some of her books. And I am very excited. Several of these will be added to my kindle.
Follow the confessions of Juan and Maria as they fall prey to lust at first sight. Can they stop themselves before it's too late, or will they become victims of their own sinful urges?
A new neighbor sends Juan running to confession to rid himself of the lustful thoughts he experiences. Each confession becomes more erotic, more sinful than the last. Can Juan stop himself, or will he give in to the desire that threatens his very faith?
The man across the street causes Maria to question her own morals. When she seeks out a priest for confession, she weaves a tale of exotic kisses and stolen moments. How can Maria find sanctuary in her prayers when her body demands she finds solace in her neighbor's arms?
Warning: NOT a romance. May contain steamy, first person narrative that makes one uncomfortable, content that will raise your eyebrows, and a tragic ending.
Excerpt:
"I sauntered outside, tossing my black mane, relishing in the feel of the setting sun brandishing my skin, wishing I could replace it with hot hands. I grabbed the hose from where it was connected in front of the house and, watching from the corner of my eye, I began running water over my car. Not even five minutes passed and I felt his eyes on me. It took every ounce of willpower I had not to turn and meet his stare.
"It only took ten minutes for him to come outside under the pretense of playing catch with his little boy. By this point, I was soaked and knew my nipples were visible through my top. The smack of a ball repeatedly hitting a glove was the only background noise I heard as I grabbed a sponge from the soap bucket and scrubbed the roof of my car. I allowed my shorts to climb higher up my buttocks as my hips swayed with my scrubbing movement. I had a very dirty roof. It required me to reach further and further and my breasts squashed against the car windows. I felt my nipples harden under the cold water, but the rest of me, the lower part of me was burning up.
"Still, I refused to turn, refused to allow Juan to see my front.
"Thump went the ball into a glove.
"I maneuvered around my vehicle at a crawling pace, keeping my back to street. I bent over my trunk, reaching for a spot I had missed in the first scrubbing, the sponge clutched so tightly in my hand that it ached, much like the rest of my body.
"Thump went the ball into a glove.
"I finished with that spot and finally turned around, allowing my wet hair to swish and slap my cheek as I braced myself against the trunk, pretending to need my balance on the wet driveway. My eyes were closed, and I tilted my head back to catch the last of the sun's rays on my face, the front end of me dripping wet. The inside of my shorts were even wetter.
"Crash went the ball into a car window.
"I smiled as I realized I had obtained my goal. Juan was mine...

What I am working on...Tagging Game
What is the working title of your book?
Bidding Wars
Where did the idea come from for the book?
We recently bought a house and its was a battle field out there. In return, it gave me an idea for a story about two people wanting the same house and battling it out.
What genre does your book fall under?
This is a contemporary romance.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Hmmm, Katie Holmes would be a good Molly Harper and Gerard Butler would make an excellent Luke Logan.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Luke wants Molly and the house, but he has to decide which one he wants more.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I am looking to send this one to one of the bigger publishers and cross my fingers and hope for success.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I have written 20,000 words in two weeks. I am hoping for this one to be around 50,000 and have it done before September ends.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Hmmm, let's go with Susan Mallery, Kristen Higgins, and Jill Shalvis.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
The process of buying a home inspired this book.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
I think the story line is a little different and I hope that gets reader's attention.
Now, “Tag! You’re it!”

Bare Necessities - Chapter 1
Bare Necessities, the second book in the Brookfield Series is almost complete with edits. So, I thought I would share the first chapter of the book. I love Ava and Seth. These two had a lot of chemistry and really heated up the pages with it in this contemporary romance (non-erotic). Currently, this book is set to release near the end of September or early October.
Chapter One
Ava Miller closed up her soon-to-be shop for the evening. Her day had been full of blueprints, paint swatches, and phone calls. She was ready to head back to the place she called home these days and put her feet up for a relaxing evening.
She was about to head for her car when she realized she didn’t have her keys or cellphone. Fiddling with the store keys again, she let herself back into the shop and made a mad dash to the back of the hollowed-out store. She spotted the car keys and phone on a small, round table. Sighing, she grabbed them and then ran back across the store.
After she relocked the door, she turned to race down the side road but didn’t make it far. She ran headfirst into something hard and warm. Looking up, her gaze landed on a very fine-looking specimen.
“Excuse me…. Sorry.” Wow, this man was hot!
“You’re in a hurry. Is there a fire?” the handsome man asked.
Ava let her gaze drift over his body and noticed the badge. She then batted her lashes and said, “There aren’t any speeding laws on the sidewalk, are there?”
He chuckled. “I like you.”
She grinned. That was good to know. Maybe she could make friends with this hunk.
“I’m Seth Hampton, sheriff of this wonderful town. And you’re new. So tell me, beautiful, what’s your name?”
“I’m Ava Miller.”
“Miller? Any relation to Julie?”
“Cousins.”
His eyes looked her up and down. “I can’t say I see the family resemblance.”
She laughed. Her father had been Italian, and she’d gotten the darker skin from him. Her eyes were emerald green and really stood out from behind her jet-black hair, and having Italian in her, she was full of curves. Something she had to learn to love.
“Since you must be new to town, I think it’s only right I treat you to dinner.”
“Sounds nice. When did you have in mind?”
“Tonight,” he said.
Yikes, he was forward. But, staring at this hot man, the ache in her legs seemed to vanish and her back no longer needed the attention of a hot bath. She’d have to remember to call Julie later and ask her why she hadn’t told Ava Brookfield was full of such attractive men.
“I’d planned on just going home and taking a nice, long soak,” she said sweetly, “but I suppose I could go to dinner, if you ask nicely.”
Seth raked his hands through his brown hair and had the biggest grin. “Ava, would you do me the honor of going to dinner with me tonight?”
“Well, since you asked so nicely.”
“You’re something, Ava. I think you’re going to make a wonderful addition to our town.”
Brookfield was starting to feel like it was finally going to be home. A home was what she’d been craving since her latest break-up. Ava knew she had commitment issues, but she also always seemed to choose the wrong guy. The last one was a true loser, and if it weren’t for the wake-up call he’d given her, she might not be here now. But Julie had promised that if Ava came here, she would find happiness and right now, staring at this hot cop, she just might have found it.
“Where are we going? I’d like to ride separate if that’s okay.”
“I think I should treat you to dinner at the local diner. Have you eaten there yet?”
“Nope, I literally got into town this morning. All I had time to do was rent a cabin over at Honeycreek before heading to the shop.”
“So you know where the diner is?”
“Hang left at the end of this road?”
“You got it. Not only are you beautiful but smart, too.”
She smiled. “I’ll see you there, cutie.”
Ava rushed to her car. The sun was starting to go down, and even though it was late summer in Brookfield, it still got a bit chilly in the evenings. Once in her car, she made the short drive over to the local diner, Swift Water Café. It was brightly lit, and the place appeared to be hopping. She couldn’t wait to start meeting people. She loved to socialize. Talking was just second nature to her—along with flirting.
Seth greeted her at her door, and as she stepped out, he placed his hand on her lower back. It was possessive, and at first she wanted to step away, but his hand soon dropped and she realized he was just being friendly.
In the diner, they made their way to a corner booth. Many of the customers quieted and watched as she and Seth took their seats. Just like a normal small town. She was new, and now they were curious. She smiled at everyone. First impressions were important.
A perky waitress made her way over and took their drink order. The blonde made flirty eyes at Seth, and Ava couldn’t help but be amused. He was most likely Brookfield’s number one bachelor. Every woman here probably wanted to tie him down and have six of his children. Thank God that was the last thing on her mind.
“So, Ava, tell me a little about yourself,” Seth said.
“Not much to tell, officer.”
Seth’s face lit up again. She enjoyed making him smile.
“Everyone around here loves Julie,” he said. “It’s nice having her home again. Have you been by to see her and Lila yet?”
“It’s the first thing on my agenda in the morning. I can’t believe how big Lila’s getting.”
The waitress returned with their drinks and then took their order. Diner food, what could be better? A nice, greasy sandwich and fries. She was thankful she wasn’t one of those women who watched her weight.
“So tell me, Ava, what brought you to our lovely town?”
“I’m opening my own business.” Ava took a sip of her soda.
“That’s great. We need some more shops. Let me guess, you’re opening up a boutique of some kind.”
“Something like that.”
“Rumor has it we have an adult store opening.” He laughed.
Ava froze. What was so funny?
Seth continued. “Whoever that nut job is, I hope they know this town isn’t having it. We plan on running them out. We have a reputation to keep up.”
The waitress came back, still batting her eyelashes at Seth. Looking at the food in front of her, Ava was no longer hungry. She dug through her purse for a ten-dollar bill, set it on the table, and then stood up. Seth gazed up, confused.
“Are you okay?” he asked. “Did I say something wrong?”
“Yes, you called me a nut job, and I’ve lost my appetite. I thought Brookfield would be different, but you’ve just shown me how wrong I was.” Ava turned and started to make her way to the entrance. Once she was outside, Seth came running out after her.
“You’re the one opening up a sex toy shop,” he said.
Rolling her eyes, she said, “It’s a lingerie shop, and in the back, there just so happens to be a small adult area. Why I’m explaining this to you, I don’t know.”
“Well, I hate to tell you, but that shop isn’t opening here.”
Crossing her arms, she glared at him. “Just try and stop me.”

Interview with Misty Burke
Today I have author Misty Burke on for a little chat. She just had a new release and has an exciting fall/winter coming up with new releases as well.
Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a multi-published romance author, professional editor, and poet.
I live in the Romantic Ozark Mountains with my supportive husband and our four wonderful children. When I'm not enjoying family time, I love to write! Creating exciting fantasy worlds filled with dangerously handsome heroes is one of my passions.
You can get all the info on my sizzling hot stories at http://www.mistyburke.com Please stop by anytime.
I have also started an online journal, chronicling my writing career. Feel free to visit me there as well at http://mistyburke.blogspot.com
And if you’re a poetry lover, you can check out some of my Urban Fantasy inspired poetry at http://graveyardkissespoetry.weebly.com
2. What genre do you write?
I mainly write in Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance. However, I have a steampunk, contemporary, and western romance all coming out soon … so I guess the best answer is Romance. I love to write romance, whatever the subgenre.
3. Please tell us about your latest release
The Midnight Cup is my latest erotic Urban Fantasy that released on August 30th. Here is a short blurb to whet your appetite:
The Midnight Cup is a story that follows the romance between a white witch and her man … turned slayer … turned vampire … turned soul mate.
Marcus McKinney is a trained member of the Society and a vampire slayer. With an ancient hieroglyphic tattoo to ward off his own personal demons, he travels to a small college town in the Midwest. It is here that he finds The Midnight Cup. A quaint coffee house with a backroom filled with vampires.
The owner of this little establishment is Serenity Baker and she’s a Natural. With her long blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, she’s a beautiful white witch that offers light magic with a simple touch. It is this power that draws the coven of vampires to her small coffee shop which in turn brings Marcus into her life.
The Midnight Cup tells their story amidst a brewing war. With a circle of witches, a coven of vampires, and a league of Society members, who knows what could happen next.
4.Is it part of a series?
I’m considering writing a story for Serenity’s twin sister, Felicity. She was quite spunky in The Midnight Cup, so I bet she will be a fabulous main character as well.
5. A must have snack while you write.
Chocolate, of course!
6. What are you currently working on?
My current WIP is a humorous/chick-lit type paranormal romance. And honestly, I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. The working title is – Paranormal Fantasies (but I’m still not sure, LOL).
7. Anything that you’d like to share.
My favorite writing quote is ...
The best time for planning a book is while you're doing the dishes. ~Agatha Christie
My favorite editing quote is ...
Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. ~ Anton Chekhov
One of life's big mysteries ...
How a 2-pound box of chocolate can make a woman gain 5-pounds (So Not Fair!!)

Bidding Wars - Current work in progress
I am working on a full-length contemporary romance that is currently titled, Bidding Wars. I have big plans for this story and am having a blast writing it. I've created one of those heros to swoon over. Every time I write a scene with him, my own heart rate picks up. I can only hope my readers feel the same way as well when this story is available.
I wanted to share a rough blurb, to give you a little taste, as well as an unedited excerpt. Be sure to watch the word counter on my side bar as it makes it way to 50,000 words! Bidding Wars - Unofficial Blurb He is a sheriff. She is a nurse. What could they possibly have in common?
Molly Harper is recovering from a year of depression after learning she couldn’t have children and her husband decides to leave her for a woman who could. Molly finds a house she is in love with and must have. Only problem, someone else wants the house too.
Luke Logan is looking to buy a home. He wants to take his ex-wife to court to become their son’s full-time parent. And he hopes that owning his own home helps with the case he’s been building.
He has a problem though, he meets Molly Harper and instantly falls for the spunky woman who demands he withdraws his offer. Molly is certain the house is hers and tells him she will fight with everything in her to get it. Luke doesn’t know what he wants more, the house or the woman.
Molly finds herself drawn to Luke as well, but isn’t willing to let someone else in. Cans she resist Luke’s charm?
A heart pumping excerpt Luke moved closer to her. Molly’s breath caught and her heart raced more. In her head she could hear the pounding. Thump, thump, thump. She did her best not to look at him, but her need to see his eyes was to strong. Molly gazed up and found he was staring at her with nothing but passion in his eyes.
He took a step closer to her again. She inhaled and could smell a fragrance that tingled her senses. Luke reached out and rubbed his hand along her cheek. She closed her eyes out of instinct. Just the feel of him touching her brought feelings back in her she hadn’t experience in a long time. The nerves in her body stood on end and it was almost like she was being tickled.
She could feel him getting closer and his warm breath coming closer to her. Opening her eyes, she saw his focus was on her lips and his mouth was close. If she moved forward an inch, she could taste him. She could tell he was waiting on her to give him the ok.
Her fingers ached the grip his shirt and pull him to her. The kiss would be passionate and would ignite that fire in her she was scared of. She hadn’t kissed another man since Steven. Could Luke be the first?
Molly pushed up on her tip toes. She was going to do it. Reaching out, she was about to wrap her hand around his neck. Her gaze was locked on his and it was as though they were moving in slow motion.
“Sheriff, you in there?” A male voice asked as he pounded on the door, sending it flying open.
Molly jumped back and Luke glared at the person as though they were an intruder.
“Sorry, Sherriff. I didn’t realize you had someone in there.”
“It ok Rogers, what can I do for you?” Luke asked, moving away from Molly and going out in the hallway.
She could hear him talking to the officer. She wiped her hands across her shirt and took a few deep breaths. That had been close. What had come over her? Her intentions when she came over here were to yell at him and tell him what a jerk he was for putting her through this. Not to get intimate in anyway with him.
Luke returned and this time left the door open. She was sure he had probably broken some rule himself and didn’t want anyone saying anything.
“Can I take you to lunch?” he asked.
“No. I need to get back to work. I haven’t even eaten yet. I really should go.”
“How about tomorrow?”
She shook her head. “It’s not a good idea.”
“Why?”
“It just isn’t.”
“Well Ms. Harper, if you can’t give me a better reason, then I will be at your workplace tomorrow to take you to lunch.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Her mind was betraying her not giving her some kind of excuse.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at noon then.”
Molly smirked and cocked her head to the side. “Not if I call out sick.”
Luke chuckled. “Good thing I know where you live then.”

12 Sentence Saturday - Finding Home

“A little.” Her stomach did feel better. She was hungry again but didn’t want a repeat performance. Maybe just stick with something small for now. “Oh, do you think you could possibly get my suitcase from my car when you have a free moment?”
“I wish, but that isn’t happening.”
Wow, was he rude or what? She’d thought he was somewhat of a gentleman but, boy, was she wrong.
“I would if I could,” he said.
“What’s stopping you?” Julie snapped.
“Have you looked outside?” She shook her head. “Well, while you were napping, the clouds opened up. A blizzard has hit, and it’s still coming.”
Julie Miller has returned to her home in Brookfield, Wyoming after discovering she is pregnant. All she wants is her mother to comfort her after her boyfriend told her to either have an abortion or leave. The only problem is, when she gets to her mother’s house, she doesn’t find her mom—she finds a half-naked man cooking breakfast.
Mark Thomas has moved to Brookfield to escape his past. He needs a fresh start to try and forget the things that haunt him, and Brookfield seems like the perfect place.
As if it isn’t bad enough that Julie doesn’t find her mother, a blizzard buries the town, and she is snowed in with Mark. Leaving them no choice, they begin a friendship while trying to resist the attraction they feel for one another.
Once the snow melts, Julie is free to leave. Will she choose to start a life in Brookfield or run back to New York? Meanwhile, Mark struggles to let go of his past and, if he does, is Julie his future?

Romancing The Bloghop! What do I find romantic?

Before I get to all the little details on the giveaways, I wanted to share a little bit about my take on romance. Most of the time we think of flowers, chocolates, romantic dates, and such. And yes, those are very romantic, but what I love is for my husband to just make me feel special. To remind me that I'm his and no one elses. And sometimes just routine can do that. The kisses we always share when one of us leave or come home. The goodnight kiss. The kiss just because. Little love taps as I cook dinner. I don't need flowers to remind me he loves me. All I need is him and his attention. We still talk a lot. We've been together 11 years and he still talks to me...so I think that's a good sign.
So now I want to know, aside from flowers and candy. What does your significant other do that you find romantic? Leave me a comment now on what that romantic thing is for your chance to not only win Accidental Love, but also the grand prize listed below. Be sure to leave your email in the actual comment. Carrie Ann (in charge of the hop) can't see the email that is left in the comment field you fill out below. My Giveaway!

Spotlight - Ciara Lake - Tallusion Nights

Clitax Tomron is bent on revenge – he’s determined to avenge his father’s death. Tomron strikes close to Val’s heart, taking his family hostage. Only one thing stands in Tomron’s way, the power of a beautiful Tallusian princess. Zalora wants peace and to put an end to these terrorist. She risks everything to save those she feels responsible for and the man of her dreams
Running through the ruins of her beloved city was like living a nightmare. The moon’s illumination enabled her to see outlines of the fallen buildings. The scene was eerie and bleak. This wasn’t terrorism. This was out-and-out attempted annihilation. First, the planet Gerial and now her world were victims of utter devastation. These Realmist were seeking to rid the universe of all others who were not like them. It was a blessing they had not irradiated them or at least not yet. But radiation would make Tallusia useless to them. “There has to be a reason for this. Hatred or prejudice couldn’t have caused this.” She pressed herself closer to him as he took a leap over what looked to be a body. No building was untouched. Most were in ruins. Either by now survivors had been rescued or this rubble was their tomb. A stench rose, confirming the latter for a large number of victims. “My home’s gone.” She clung to his warm firm body.
This man was a true athlete, full of grace and unmistakable skill. He ran with ease. It amazed her. She realized he was her savior from an otherwise disastrous end. “Thank you.” She patted his chest where she clung to him. “Thank you.” Tears ran down her face. She wiped her face on his uniform. “Sorry I’m making your uniform wet.” He did not comment. She did not expect him to. His full concentration was on getting them to his ship, keeping a look out for dangers. He ran swiftly while he held his weapon. On a few occasions, he jumped over hurdles of debris, landing smoothly, not breaking his gait. Zalora realized he was not the kind of man she was accustomed to interacting with. He was much more. No wonder these Earthen humans feared Xihirians. For Realmist, their fear had turned to hatred. Val slowed. “Are you tired?”
“No, it’s too slick to run now. I’m afraid I may fall. I don’t want to fall with you on my back. So I’ll have to walk fast for now. I believe we’re almost there.”
“How did you remember the way?”
“I paid attention.”
“I’m glad you did.” She hugged him tighter. He continued to walk at a quick tempo. Zalora closed her eyes. It was just easier to block out everything. Her anxiety ate at her stomach.
“We’ve arrived. It looks like others have been here, too. But I can’t sense anyone now.” Zalora opened her eyes.
“Have they messed with your ship?”
“No or they would have been shocked, literally.” Val tapped his communicator button. A low electronic buzz hummed. “Now we can touch it. I want you to hang my rifle over your shoulder.” He handed it to her.
“You do?”
“Don’t be afraid. It’s on safety.” He waited for her to do as instructed. He walked around to the other side of his ship. He was all business in every stride. His ship was black, sleek, and about two stories high. An electronic ladder came down to greet them. Before she realized, they were almost to the top of his ship. Again, he moved with inhuman speed and skill. Out of fear for heights, she gripped him tighter, and her nails dug into him. The cockpit opened. He helped her off his back then took his weapon from her. “Get into your seat and buckle in.” His tone was brisk as he pointed to her passenger seat.
Carefully she stretched her leg out toward the cockpit to get into her area. He held her arm to help her. Overcome with emotions, she paused just before she climbed in. Impulsively, she leaned into him, kissing him. Amazingly, he tasted delicious, scrumptious, making her want more. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pressed herself against him as if offering herself. All common sense fled her brain.
Val astonished her with his intense response. He growled in her mouth. She felt dizzy. She’d intended her kiss to be brief and sweet, a nice thank-you of sorts. It had not come off sweet. Val had not reacted to it as a sweet thank-you either. Instantly, his business like demeanor evaporated. It seemed to fall off him, kissing her harder, passionately. His large hands cupped her soft bottom, squeezing it. He pressed her into his hardness. She offered no resistance. Sharp teeth accidently nicked her bottom lip. He hesitated for a second. Until Zalora ran her hand through the back of his hair, feeling its silky texture.
Strangely, his nipping her thrilled her, encouraging her to want to bite him back. His tongue pushed into her mouth, inviting her into his mouth. The taste of him made her head feel like it was swirling with emotions. She sighed against him, and a different kind of shiver passed through her. She felt his reaction to her shivering. He gripped her closer. Again, she wondered at his alluring taste as she kissed him deeper. He pulled back to stare at her. His eyes were extremely bright, wild. His pupils were slits. He was stunning and feral-looking. Feeling wild, she pressed against him to initiate another kiss. This time her kiss was more subdued. It took all her effort to regain her composure. His mouth disconnected from hers.
“We have to go.” His voice was gravelly. It did not sound normal at all. Gently he touched her hair as if examining her curls. He brought a strand to his nose and rubbed it on his face. Then he inhaled deeply. The look he gave her made her core throb with need. Her panties felt damp between her legs. Truly, their kiss had been short-lived for the wake of emotions it left. Its pleasure had been immeasurable. Her head buzzed. She ached for more.

A high school teacher inspired me to write. However, instead of initially pursuing my writing career I became a lawyer. I work in divorce court, so erotic romance is a great escape. There can be true love and happy-endings, at least on my pages.
My two children and I have two good-humored dogs that share our home and ease our stress. I have traveled and lived all over the world, and these experiences have given me great creative ideas. I look forward to creating many more adventures in romance.
