WHAT IF…

If
If everyone could cry
Would the world be a better place?
If everyone received a hug
Would love follow?
If everyone could eat
Would they share the bounty?
Cry with me
Hug me
Break bread with me

BLINDED VISION

Blinded
By eyes that only see
Through filters
An apparition
Of assumptions
Hidden clues
Too light
Too dark
Never
Just right
We miss
What is within

VARIEGATED

Variegated
I shine like a forest green leaf
With yellow curved lines
I meet the center vein
Poked by earthbound mortals
The promise of idols
My colors fades to pale lemon
Lines remain of green innocence
Of sunshine brightness
I split the difference
Morph into buds of the future

Invisible Fragility

Invisible
I appear whole
Yet my soul echoes
In my fragile bones.
With no one to see
What embarrasses me?
Are we the same
Alone at home?
I may disappear
Within a haze
Still my soul
Echoes
Joys

Abbe’s Ruminations April 2023 Traveling Solo

Welcome to my newsletter, Abbe’s Ruminations. I mull, contemplate, ponder – old and new experiences, finding what I call the joy and laughter of repetition or the abandonment to not knowing.
Are you ready for change, adventure, oneness? Can you travel on your own?
I admire women who travel on their own- loose itineraries, back packing, with no worries. I marvel at their bravery but know that isn’t me at seventy or perhaps ever.

My list of Three, Word Wisdoms

Three Word Wisdoms
Bring light laughter.
Value spontaneous action.
Celebrate simple wonders.
Settle into grays.
Question fixed answers
Smile into eyes.
Praise, meditate, embrace.
Give love freely.

TWO THOUGHTS

Two Thoughts
Autumn leaves me, I take cover within the chilled air, fall lets go to snow.
Laughter rings a bell of joy, tears express emotions of pain and wonder.

SUN SIGN

Sun Sign
The sun kissed my forehead
And settled on my chest.
I sat on a rock
And did my best
To breath in the dry desert air
To still my unsettled heart
To do what I do not dare
Alone I walked my path
Alone I let the dark butterflies
Glide in winds unknown
In the shadow of the sky
The sun kissed my forehead.

HALLO-ween

Hallo-ween
I weened myself
From the devilish
Commercialized
And fictionalized.
At five I preferred
The white sheet
Of anonymity.
Only two holes
To view the world.
I floated through
Time.
A spirit negotiator
Of instinct, feeling, and intuition.
I was the eternal collaborator,
A friendly ghost.

Abbe’s Ruminations March 2020–Nose Picking Old Sayings Finally Understood

Welcome to my newsletter, Abbe’s Ruminations. I mull, contemplate, ponder – old and new experiences, finding what I call the joy and laughter of repetition or the abandonment to not knowing.
An old saying, somewhat gross, sticks in my head. I think it came from my funny and secretly wise father.
“You can pick your nose, you can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your friend’s nose.”
Besides being yucky, I see the wisdom of his words. Although he jokingly told this to me in elementary school, the words hit home when I was in high school. Peer pressure pushed me to the outskirts of the “in” groups. I shied away, awkward more a reader than a social butterfly.
