Nothing pure,
The left-over spots that peak
Through foliage
Of greens, browns, and oranges
I’m the sparkle,
That glistens off the icy edges,
Where snow prints
Mark my passage.
Or the cloud puff
In a blue sky
Soft and billowy
As the wind stretches my marks.
I’m the new beginning on a sheet of paper,
Not touched by regrets.
I’m friendly with gray,
A mingling with black.
I’m the start, the in-between,
And the perpetual
Steam that rises from warmed hearts.
