Abbe’s Ruminations October 2023 Tune In: The world reverberates in sounds and vibrations
Welcome to my newsletter, Abbe’s Ruminations. I mull, contemplate, ponder – old and new experiences, finding what I call the joy and laughter of repetition or the abandonment to not knowing.
I stood inside a large bowl of seven metals hammered together to from an encircling reverse dome of sound. The first strike was a sweet note that vibrated from my toes to head. I felt a wave of energy pass through me and so began my journey.

A balm of sweet innocence
Settled upon the air of ennui,
caused by a stagnant heart.
For on an isle of love
An infant Jumped in a sweet-pea bouncer.
Alone to discover In gleeful surprise
The up-rise and downfall
Of its own motion.

I sent my words
Out into the ethers
Of the vast ocean.
A letter in a bottle
Written with the
Sun in my eyes,
Sand between my toes,
And the breathless joy
Of a tousle in the waves.
No return address.
Just a note to the world
That I exist.

A gaggle of flutters
A hilly road that bends and curves
An opening, illuminating the way.
Tidal waves of emotion held steady
By a steady foot and hand
Smoothing the path toward
The next enlightenment.

Welcome to my newsletter, Abbe’s Ruminations. I mull, contemplate, ponder – old and new experiences, finding what I call the joy and laughter of repetition or the abandonment to not knowing.
I don’t have the nimble talent of a seamstress. Mistakes galore followed me in my home economic classes. (Something they no longer provide for young women or men). My seams wiggled, the darts puckered, and the zippers failed.
They say practice makes perfect. If that were true, I’d have a finished product, a passable dress, skirt, or blouse that could be worn.

A Child’s Question
Why does your bellybutton have a hood?
I smile with my answer.
To protect the fairy who lives inside.
Is that why you have dust and dirt inside?
Yes, the fairy cleans weekly and gives it to the dust bunnies.
And those wrinkles?
Oh, I say. My belly stretches with laughter and joy.
Will mine do that too?
I look at my grandchildren’s bellies. Hmm.
You must exercise your heart and mind until the muscles respond.
