Beginning August 3, I’ll be in Scandinavia. My Swedish & Norwegian inlaws have given me a list of things to see, but you all know I’m completely fixated on the boats. Expect lots of photos of the Vasa & the harbors & more boats & more water, and from the events below too!

Here’s where to find me:

Book Bites: Robyn Bennis

Book Bites is Cooking the Books‘ more easygoing cousin. Authors talk about their book and share a recipe, all in one tasty bite.

Robyn Bennis’ first novel, The Guns Above, is filled with high-altitude derring-do, gambling, aristocratic hijinks, and more. She joins Book Bites with a delicious, weevil-free (we hope) recipe for hardtack! Welcome, Robyn!

Lines of Supply: Cooking the Books with Malka Older

[image error][image error]Our fabulous friend Malka Older found time between busy moments at BEA to talk with co-host Aliette de Bodard and me about her relief work in Japan after Fukushima, writing the data-driven, sf stunners Infomocracy and Null States (out soon from Tor.Com Publishing!) and telling us what foods go away first in an infomocracy universe. It’s all  for Cooking the Books this month, both here and at the extension kitchen over at The Booksmugglers! (check out Malka’s Booksmugglers Bonus answers!).
