It’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to take time to breathe. It’s okay if reaching your goals takes a lifetime. It’s okay to make the journey fun along the way, instead of filled with cramped pressure and tight deadlines. It’s okay.

It’s okay.

It’s okay.

October Inklets, Both Out Of My Usual Wheelhouse! (Jellybeans & Wedding Dress Old Gods…)

I had two Inklets come out this month, so I thought I’d share real quick in case you’re interested.

On the 1st, the double issue (and hecka mouthful) The Remarkable Insight Of Jellybeans and Understanding came out. This is a pair of contemporary stories, which is a little out of my wheelhouse, but here we are.

The Remarkable Insight Of Jellybeans and Understanding

She sits on the lounge with her partner, sharing an unfulfilling jar of jellybeans. For the first time in her life, she dares to dream of something more.

If only she could f...

IT’S A (PARANORMAL) WRAP!!

Phew!

I’m not sure if I’ve comprehensively detailed this here yet or not but last year, I was contracted by Aurealis (Australia’s top sff magazine and home of the globally recognised Aurealis Awards) to write a 7-part series on the symbolic origin of paranormal creatures.

Well, last night I handed in the last article. PHEW. ‘Goblins: Greed, Anti-Semitism and Neurodivergence Throughout History’ is coming to an Aurealis magazine near you in, I think, December.

Relatedly, issue #145 jus...

So I’ve Actually Really Missed Blogging?

Turns out I’ve actually really, really missed blogging? I didn’t realise I was missing it, but last week I restarted after several months off, and yeah, it feels good. Maybe it’s because it’s writing, even if it’s not fiction. Maybe it’s because I feel like this is a safe space where I can be myself, or maybe it’s just that this is a place to revel in the things that I enjoy and that make me happy. Maybe it’s even because this is a space to process things – I often don’t really know what I’m goi...

Top Friday Pins

I’ll be honest, the only YouTube/video things I’ve watched in the last few weeks is gardening videos. So, today, you get a few of the most recent pins I’ve pinned across my Pinterest boards. (Pinterest is my mental-health go-to for social media, gonna be honest.) This may end up replacing the previously-usual Friday videos, since I’m way more likely to be on Pinterest than watching video content. We Shall See.

What have you found on the interwebs this week?
