News

Today’s post has been moved to Monday, July 3, because…the Silmarillion Awards will begin that day, and I’m once more participating in it!

The other reason is that my grandfather is ill and could pass away soon, and it’s a difficult time for me and my family.

I hope you have a good weekend, and come back Monday to vote in the Silmarillion Awards.

Fun at the Beach, and the Sand Sculpture Event 2017!

The annual Sand Sculpture Event happened at Hampton Beach last weekend, and I had a blast seeing all the creativity and walking along the beach. These works of art each year range from the very strange to the philosophical to the endearing and pure fun!

Here are this year’s sand creations:

Inspirational Quotes

“What we do today, right now, will have an accumulated effect on all our tomorrows.”
—Alexandra Stoddard

Every choice, every decision made, no matter how great or small, can affect our lives and those around us. We can change things for the better, and improve our lives based on those decisions.

~~~~~
“Love is always bestowed as a gift—freely, willingly, and without expectation. We don’t love to be loved, we love to love.”
—Dr. Leo Buscaglia
Love is a gift, and a gift is something to be given...
“Hope” & “Bravery” #haiku #poems
Haiku for RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Challenge—a fun activity and contest that is open for everyone to participate, and helps keep our creative writer’s brain active! This week’s words: Miracle & Save.
“Hope”
“I’ll save you, somehow,”
The girl rose from Mother’s side
“Miracles are real.”
~
“Bravery”
The army approached.
No miracle could save them,
But she would not run.
The arrow flew from her hand
To pierce the orc’s chest.
The Mystery Blogger Award
Sara Letourneau graciously nominated me for this award. Thank you! Don’t you just love the word “Mystery” in a title? It’s as if you’ve found the key to some mysterious door, and on the other side lies secret treasures… Before I go off on a tangent, though, here are the details about the Mystery Blogger Award, as described by its creator Okoto Enigma: “The Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. Th...
When Doubts Assail, Be A Bilbo!
Bilbo the Hobbit was a practical and steady character, who never let a situation get the better of his emotions. When we face and battle doubts, perhaps we should do what practical Bilbo would. Doubts might assail us left and right, whether it be concerning a project we’re working on, or a goal we hope to succeed in, but it’s what we do when we face such doubts that counts.
(below quotes are Bilbo’s)
Bilbo, LOTR, Tolkien, one ring to rule, the ring, Baggins, when doubts assail, dark, light, reach, author blog, books, book nerd, tolkien fan,
We work on that project, that goal, that thing we’ve put so much sweat, blood and tears into...
“Cost Of Victory”
Her heart throbbed with pain
Though it also leaped with joy
The victory won
Though at a terrible price
Many lives altered.
~
“Determination”
He ignored the throb
Leaped up on the prosthetic
—Determined to walk.
Try, And Try Again
BLUE butterflies were an important source of income for the Farfalle Village each spring, and the week was soon approaching when they would pass through the nearby woods. Emma was determined to be among the young people who caught one for her family. She watched the villagers working on their nets to catch the special insects, and began working on her own, weaving hers with much eagerness.
She spun, twisted, and wove the threads until a net came into existence. Then she held it up proudly, ce...
3 Quotes Challenge (more!)
“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
― Mark Twain
Got to love Mark Twain’s sense of humor! Though my writer’s mind may be too adventurous to keep a sleepy conscience…
