Spring’s Thaw

All is silent
All is cold
Wrapped around me like a blanket of ice.
I can’t move
There’s no air
I wait and wait and try to sleep
For what feels like an endless period of time.
Then the cold white surrounding me suddenly breaks
Cracking like the shell of an egg
And the snow that’s encased me for months begins to melt.
A bright light reaches down into the cold
Into the dark world of silence
And wraps around me like a blanket of life.
My stiff limbs thaw
They stretch up towards the light
Reaching...

Time For Another Break!

And for the same reasons as last time. I need to put every ounce of free time I can into revisions for Strayborn. We’re almost halfway through April (can you believe it?) and I really need to step it up and keep focused!

Speaking of April, it’s cold and ice outside, nothing of spring up here in New England. Those of you who are enjoying warm weather and blooming flowers are truly blessed (I’m jealous).

So, I’ll see you two weeks from now, which will be May 7th.

Books That Have Been on My TBR List the Longest. Can You Help Me Decide Which to Keep?

Top Ten Tuesday is run by That Artsy Reader Girl. With life and whatnot happening, I missed when this topic was first posted. Reading other friends’ and bloggers’ lists was so fun, though, it made me curious about what mysterious books have lingered in the silent shadows of my own To-Read list. And that’s why today I am bringing my flashlight as I go and search through the forest of books that is my TBR… Perhaps you’d like to join me? Bring a handkerchief for the dust (you never know what you...

Jesus’ Scars, an Easter #poem

This poem was written by my mother, and since the theme is on Easter and Jesus’ resurrection, it feels like the perfect time to share it.

Scars

Some things in heaven
Are made by man
These are the scars
In my Savior’s hands

He walked the road
To Calvary,
Carried a cross
My soul to free

Pierced with nails
He bore the pain,
There on that cross
He bore the shame.

He died there alone
For me that day
So all of my sins
Would be taken away.

Separated from God
I had been lost
But Jesus came down
And p...

Update, and a podcast link

Hey guys!

That was a well needed hiatus. In fact, I might have to take another one soon. I finished a lot more revisions on Strayborn, and I even had time to search around and hire an artist to do the book cover!

I’m also querying agents for a children’s picture book idea I have. We’ll see how that goes, though. It might take a long time to find one.

Brief Hiatus

I’ll be taking a short hiatus this month, so that I can focus on writing. I’m sure you saw my long list of writing projects for this year.

The Life of Minstrels, a Guest Post by author Jenelle Schmidt

Today author Jenelle Schmidt is here to talk about minstrels. Why this topic, you ask? Because her new book Minstrel’s Call is now available, and there’s an epic giveaway to go along with it! First let’s hear from Jenelle, and then you’ll have a chance to enter the giveaway which is full of all things fantasy (including a sword!).

Now, take it from here, Jenelle!

The Minstrel’s Life For Me

Minstrels have always fascinated me. Fflewddur Fflam, from Alexander Lloyd’s “Prydain Chronicles” was th...

Top 7 Favorite Books Read In 2017

This is my first attempt at a yearly summary of favorite books. I’m usually a slow reader and don’t have a long enough list to say much for a blog post, but 2017 was one of my better reading years. And while I didn’t reach any major reading goals, I did come across many great books.

I’ve attached links to my reviews on Goodreads. (Some I didn’t get around to writing until this year, even though I’d read them back in 2017. I procrastinate a bit with that

Writing In The New year

Since it’s the start of a new year, it’s time I look over my writing results for 2017. And from there, tentatively plan what it is I hope to achieve in 2018. You could call this the writer’s version of a new year resolution.
