New Releases Oct. 5-Oct. 11 and Readers Choice #Giveaway

First off, I have a "Story Behind Elysian Fields" post out at the upcoming4me website . Head over and leave a comment for an extra entry into this week's Readers Choice contest!

Now, forget December. October seems to be the month that just keeps on giving when it comes to new releases.  Not quite as many this week as last week, but still more than enough to deplete a good book budget. Lots of YA this time out, and fantasy fans are abuzz at the long (long long long) awaited Rep...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Weekly Winners, Online Classes and a Penton Scene Snipper

Happy Sunday! First, a bit of housekeeping.

If you are an aspiring author, an author planning or stalled on a new project, or just interested in the plotting process. I'm starting my monthlong online plotting workshop tomorrow through the Contemporary Romance Writers chapter. You don't have to be a chapter member to join in, and lessons are conducted via a Yahoo loop. More info here . This is the last time until at least mid-2014 I'll be doing this particular workshop since I'm rolling out some...

Shop Talk: Heroes and HEAs with Brina Cary (and #Win a $10 GC)

Today, please help me welcome author Brina Cary to Preternatura. Brina has stopped by today to talk about the balance between having a strong hero and a strong ending to our favorite books.

Brina Cary is a world-weary traveler who has been to such faraway places as Guam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jebel Ali and Bahrain through a tour in the US Navy. While growing up surrounded by poverty, Brina began to dream of the different avenues her life could take. She joined the Navy out of high...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Today, please help me welcome fellow Tor author and agent-mate Gabi Stevens! Gabi has stopped by today to talk about the things she has learned from writing novels and perhaps inspire some of you to do the same. Wishful Thinking, the third book in her Time of Transition paranormal romance series, was published in last spring by Tor Books.

Gabi was born in Burbank, California, the oldest child of Hungarian immigrants. She has lived mostly in the San Fernando Valley. At fif...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

New Releases Sept. 28-Oct. 4 and Readers Choice #Giveaway

Gah! The number of new releases this week is in-sane, I tell you. It must be the first week of the month or something. Some good stuff here too. I have Nate Kenyon's Day One in my TBR pile already. And looks like there's a new JR Ward Fallen Angels novel for me to buy and put in my personal Mount Everest of books. I have the series sitting there unread. Someday. Someday.

In the meantime, me myself and I are taking part in a special event being held by Melliane at Between Dreams an... <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Yikes--Is it Sunday Already? Did you win a book this week?

Life continues at a pace of utter craziness, so I'm taking a quick break to announce this week's book winners. Things will settle down in another week, if I survive it, so the dark tunnel does have a bit of light ahead!

I've gotten some great suggestions for Penton Book 4 titles over at the Susannah Sandlin site . There's still about a week before I'll narrow the list to four, and then will let my editor pick the final if I don't have a strong opinion. So stay tuned for the winner of that conte...

Too Much Paranormal Romance? SATYR'S CURSE author Alexandra Weis Says...

We're double-dipping at Preternatura today! If you haven't seen it, you can scroll down also for a guest review of Myke Cole's second special-ops-meets-magic novel, Fortress Frontier, and comment to win a copy.

Now, I'd like to welcome author Alexandra Weis to the Preternatura site. Her new novel, The Satyr's Curse, recently published with World Castle, is highlighted below (um....can I just say a big AMEN to that cover hotness?), and then she joins us for a post on paranormal romance. I would...

Review: Fortress Frontier by Myke Cole (and a #giveaway)

Today, I’m welcoming guest reviewer Alex Shepherd, who’s sharing a review of Fortress Frontier, by Myke Cole, which was released by Ace in January. This is Myke’s second novel in his Shadow Ops series, following 2012's Control Point, which I thought was terrific. I'm anxious to dig into this one; it's been in my TBR Mount Everest since it came out. I find Myke's books particularly intense and believable because, unlike myself, who writes about a special forces team in S...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>
