Mid-Week Inspiration: When life gives you Lemons….
Sorry this mid week inspiration is a day late Colts. Yesterday I had to whisk my youngest off to the ER for what I feared was a allergic reaction to food. She just turned 6mths so we’re trying her out on solids. It turns out what she has is a fungual case of diaper rash. It was just bad timing. :Wipes sweat off brow: She was sent home with some Benadryl and a topical cream and is all ready back to her old self with a lot less itching. This week life has seemed determined to crash my reading count. From running errands for the Marine Ball I’m attending to kidlets needing extra attention. Instead of getting upset I sort of let go and allowed myself to coast the wave.
The staff last night was amazing! We were even seen by a MCSexy… yes they truly do exist! He told me he was working nights and I could come back any time to see him directly. Wonderful Doc right? Well my writer’s mind weaved a story from that… See Lemons into lemonade. I actually said this week. When life gives you lemon, squeeze them , add a little sugar, drink it down and smile. It’s not the easiest thing to do but better than the alternative right? When we got home I was greeted by presents… for you all The Swag for Date a D’Shar has arrived.
If you’re asking what’s Date a D’Shar. A contest where you can be featured as a date for one of the D’Shar men! You chose the description and the name and forever shall you be linked with the alien men who stole our hearts, well my at least. These boys have lived in my head for over seven years and I’m loving telling their stories! Here’s the link if you’re interested in entering. http://www.shylacolt.com/contest/
All you have do it tell me what you’d like to see or learn in the next installation of the D’shar Men series.
I’ll wrap today’s post with this question… have you ever made lemonade out of lemons? What did you do?

Midweek Inspiration : Necessity is the Mother of Invention
I know this post is coming in late and for that I apologize. It turns out I have a sinus infection and an ear infection. Double whammy for this tired gal. Funny thing is, I wasn’t even going to go to the Doc but the Mr. made me. Sometimes we just have to listen to an outside source. I’m on about four different meds so to say my thinking is clouded would be an understatement. Because I can’t do the norm I’m going to share a little sneak peak from my anthology.
Always Faithful
Kasey/Ryan had been quiet since they left the hospital and came back to the apartment. A part of her thought it was normal and the other worried. She ran a hand through her curls and tried not to stare at the man watching television. She understood a bit of mindless entertainment but it hurt. She’d waited for weeks for him to return home only to be ignored in her own home. Mika looked down at the book she’d pretended to read. She’d been studying the same page for the past hour as her mind wandered. What did she do now? Push the issue and try to get him to go over memories, let him rest? Today was a big deal he was home in an unfamiliar place with a stranger. The thought stung but she’d never been the type to ignore the white elephant in the room but this was uncharted territory. She felt like Alice after she tumbled down the rabbit hole. They were in separate rooms, silent like a couple on the verge of divorce and an underlying tension kept her on edge. How did they get past something like this? Even if he did remember would he ever be the same? Feel the same? Her stomach lurched. She snapped the book closed and sat up.
“I think I’m going to turn in early.”
“Okay, night Mika.”
The brisk dismissal pricked her like a needle.
“Night,” she whispered. It wasn’t like her to give in so easily but damn if she didn’t’ need to regroup. She welcomed the quiet solitude their room provided as she shed her clothes, slipped into her nightgown and crawled into bed. Maybe when she woke up tomorrow this would all be a bad dream.

Mid-week Inspiration : Time of the Harvest
I had a hard time thinking of a theme today Colts. I love Mid week Inspiration but I LOVE Halloween! So I wracked the ole brain and came up with a compromise. Before Halloween was the sexy, spooky, otherworldly holiday of present it was a time of harvest, a time to end the gathering season and prepare for the winter months ahead. Even now October is sort of the same. We prep for Thanks giving when we’ll reflect on what we have, spend time with those we love, and make plans for the New Year.
Since my operation I’ve taken stock of many things in my life and I’m ready to do some harvesting of my own. I’m gathering up all the negative energy and influences in my life and giving them the boot as I prepare for the end of this year and the bright shiny new one just around the corner. It’s funny we cling to the familiar even if it’s not the best for us. I suppose we’re creatures of habit, and time is one thing we can never get back. So it makes that separation oh so painful. This is sort of two part post. Next week I’ll go more in depth about my journey and talk about letting go.
Have you ever walked away from something and found yourself better off for it? What are you harvesting up this year?

Friday Free For All: Anthology Blurb Reveal for No Man Left Behind
Friday Free For All : Anthology Blurb Reveal
Hello my Colts ! Happy Friday to you! Hope your weeks been a good one, mine has seemed an eternity long and I am so ready for the weekend to begin. How about you? Today I’m giving you the first lool at my Anthology No Man Left Behind.
This book is the love child of my husband and I. Fifty percent of every purchase will go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, something we are thrilled to be a part of. I used to do a lot of volunteer work but with two girls under three and a husband with an insane schedule I’ve dialed back more than I wanted to. This is my chance to give back again and I’m really excited about it! Normally my romances are steamy to say the least but these will be sweet, another new venture for me! I hope you enjoy.
Even after our brave men and women leave the battlefield, the scars can linger physically and sometimes mentally. Here are three tales of courage, strength, perseverance, and love that deal with both.
After a long stint in Afghanistan, Cpl. Trevor Martin finds himself home for leave and contemplating reenlistment or civilian life. Weary and tired of the grim sights he’s witnessed, he turns to his old friend Carly for comfort. When Trevor shows signs of PTSD, Carly urges him to get help, hoping that Repairing His Soul won’t cost them their rapidly forming romance.
After a near death experience with an IED in the Middle East, Staff Sgt Alexander Denning is grateful to be alive but scarred inside and out after his fiancée’s bitter rejection of his choice to continue serving. Georgette “George” Harper is attending Jane Wayne day for her sister when she’s smitten with the McMap instructor Staff Sgt. Denning. Can she convince him what they have is worth the risk? Wooing Her Sergeant may be harder than she thinks.
When Mika gets a phone call that her husband Kasey’s been hurt abroad, it’s her worse nightmare. Prayers and the grace of God deliver him through, but the battle isn’t over yet. The journey back to happiness and health will be painful, full of setbacks and damaged feelings, but Mika refuses to give up on the man she knows is her one true love. A true soldier’s wife is Always Faithful, no matter the cost to herself.

Mid-Week Inspiration: An Alien tale inspired by a trip to Roswell… it happened ;)
Today I’m going to do something a little bit different and talk fiction. A lot of people ask about the inspirations behind my stories, so I’ll talk a little about my book, The Wanting. I’ve always had a thing for aliens and UFO’s. Don’t ask me why because I can’t tell you. Too much X files, twilight Zone or the Outer limits? I’ve always had quite the overactive imagination. Well I used to live in Austin, TX which is only 8-9 hours away from Roswell, so for my 26th birthday I took a road trip to the one place that loves Aliens even more than I do. It was amazing trip, I did a lot of the touristy things, ate in the alien restaurant, toured the streets, and the local stores, even the Wal-mart was alien themed!
In the end the best part of the trip was the UFO Center which had a library that held all kinds of information on aliens from books to firsthand accounts written on loose leaf sheets of paper. Browsing through this hodgepodge of alien themed things I began to ask that dangerous question, what if? What if the aliens were all ready among us just waiting to reveal themselves? What would bring them here? How would the world change? There the seed for The wanting was planted where it lived for many years on my hard drive and in an old school black and white composition book until last year when I was privileged enough to present it to you. As I work on the sequel all of those feeling are rushing back. I’m even thinking of taking trip back.
Have you ever had an experience that really inspired you? I’d love to hear about it.

Friday Free For All: Maya DeLeina talks about her latest Blood of Luna
Hey Colts today I have my fabulous pub sister,Maya DeLeina on board to tell us a bit about her latest release, Blood of Luna and it’s unique content. Because my pub sister is so awesome she’s running a contest. One lucky commenter will win a copy of Blood Of Luna!
Skin vs. Rubber
I have rubber in my story.
I know what you are thinking…condoms in an erotic romance story? No, not quite.
Blood of Luna was released last month and what I created that lurked in the shadows of the cave seemed to take center stage. Take a look at some of the reactions:
“This was a romance with plenty of twists and turns, a bit of a spooky edge and not to mention lots of steamy scenes that make you want a man like Trevor in your life. The scene with the “rubber” men was quite freaky, I don’t think I have ever found a read that actually unnerved me a little bit as this one did in that scene and to find out what they actually were was quite sad.”
“Paranormal erotic romance with a slice of spooky and a full helping of WTF is what I call this read.”
“Rubber men?! I keep thinking of the rubber man from American Horror Story, one of the creepiest things I have ever seen *shivers*”
“The “rubber” men were not only a bit freaky, they were probably one of the more original bad guys I have read about in a book. It does have a bit of a horror edge to it.”
Never mind the hot Kama sutra in the bathtub, sex in the cave under a sliver of light or a decadent vampire quietly watching Luna pleasure herself in bed.
No. The rubber men have triumphed over the flesh.
BLURB:
When is it real? When is it fantasy?
For Luna Kalen, the line between reality and a dream is hard to recognize.
Recovering from a car accident, the solitude at the coast is meant to be therapeutic. But Luna soon finds it more than her idle mind can handle.
After exploring a dangerous stretch of shoreline, Luna returns home with a mysterious man she discovers in a cave. Little does Luna know that this man is about to fill her world with sinful pleasures…and blood-thirsty vampires.
When reality and fantasy collide, unimaginable dangers lurk, revelations are revealed, and darkest desires are fulfilled. But if you think the happily ever after is the sign of the ending, it’s really only the beginning.
Should Luna have listened to the warning?
Do not go into the cave.
Excerpt:
Flashes of unspeakable pleasure travelled like lightning throughout my body, teasing and torturing me all at the same time. I moaned roughly and screamed in a piercing tone that echoed all along the cave walls. Mindless vulgarity escaped from my lips. My foul-mouthed voice sounded unfamiliar, raw and naughty.
His cock plunged into me slowly, but unrelenting. In and out, bit by bit, he devoured my body.
He was a man with an insatiable need and I was the woman who held the key to his release.
“You have a nasty mouth on you,” he whispered in a coarse, breathless voice.
“You do that to me. Make me scream. Take me hard. Take me fast. Take me rough.”
“Shh, savor, Luna. Savor this right now. This is the last time you’ll ever know the sensations of a cock plunging into your half human, half vampire body. Feel each part of you that I touch.”
He bent his knees to drive up into me in a slow rhythm. Unhurried and crafty, his body moved like a dancer, full of untapped sensuality.
Away from the carnage and destruction, we were deep in a dark cavern of what seemed like an endless cave system. Wrapped in a world of complete ecstasy, we stood under a sliver of light that pierced through a fissure in the cave. Our bodies sparkled in the silvery glow.
Trevor stood with both feet planted firmly on the ground. I balanced on one leg while the other draped over his forearm. Under my bent knee, he secured my position as his hand grasped my thigh. His other hand cradled the rise in my ass, squeezing, rubbing and exploring freely. If it wasn’t for the gentle grade in the cave floor that I stood on, our height difference would never allow for such a sexual position.
With his face buried at my neck, his fingers dug deeper into my sweat-soaked flesh. His pace was still unhurried, but his thrusts to bury himself completely within me intensified. It was if he were claiming unchartered lands, saying “mine, mine, mine” with each plunge. His lips grazed my ear delicately, making me tremble in delight.
“Ickey moving around your naked body in this light is the sexiest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on.” His deep voice sounded seductive and mesmerizing.
I threw my head back and moaned as my pussy drenched his cock in more and more silky, hot wetness.
I could just imagine what my body looked like. If it was anything like what I was seeing on Trevor, it must’ve been an image straight out of a fantasy.
The beam of light was alive, wrapping around our bodies. The curves that Trevor’s body took reflected the light, acting as a mirror. Glowing and glistening, shards of luminosity bounced from our bodies into the darkness with every movement. The play on shadow and light deliciously highlighted dips and ridges in his chest, abs, and arms while portions of his facial features were blanketed in a mysterious cloak.
All the while, Ickey moved along my body without a care. Smooth and dry, she gently swept across my clavicle, up over my shoulder, slithering her way down my back, and circling around my waist. Thousands of tiny scales moved in synchronization. Rolling, surging, swelling, the piercing light glistened along the surface of her movements like the tides in an ocean.
The moment was profoundly passionate and powerful.
Suddenly, his exacting motion grew fierce and demanding. Like a wild animal released from his chains, Trevor grunted and moaned wildly and operated in nothing but a single-minded intensity. He slammed his cock into me, driving himself deep with force and purpose. Over and over, he took me, and my body withstood his demands in sheer delight. With one sure thrust, he buried himself to the hilt and held his position.
“Am I a lover who can make you scream?”
“You make me do more than scream. You make me lose my mind,” I said gasping for breath.
He slowly eased his cock from my body, letting his tip linger at the entrance of my slick pussy. “Do I now?” he said as he slammed his way into me once again.
“Yeah! Fuck me hard!”
“Hard?” he asked as he continued his slow retractions and driving force.
“Yes!” I screamed, “Give it to me. Hard!”
“My darling, as you wish.”

Mid-Week Inspiration: The Art of being Brave
Hey Colts! I’m back, and boy have I missed you guys!! :hugs all around:
Today I’m going to be getting very personal. This lady has been on a wild ride the past couple of weeks. The family and I went into the Er late one night for what I thought was Acid reflux. Turned out it was a gallstone laden gallbladder that needed to come out in emergency surgery. I went in at 3am and was under the knife by 3pm. Talk about shocked and scared. Any time you do surgery there’s a risk of complications, and my brain flashed to my children and what kind of mark I’d left on the world. When something like that happens you have this amazing moment of clarity where what and who really matters shines thorough.
I’ve had a lot of scares lately, and I personally am I strong believer in God , some may call him the universe, etc. I think when you keep having thing happening to you often times it’s for a reason. Some message or lesson you’re supposed to learn. When I was younger I was a go big or go home kind of girl. Never a total risk taker exactly. That’s just not how I’m built. I always have to weigh the pros and cons. But once I’m in I am all in and it’s full steam ahead. Lately I’ve drifted away from that. Why? I think as an artist of any kind it’s a bit scary to put your work, your baby out there, especially if you’re going in a new direction, trying a new venture or going against the grain. Because for us it’s very public, if you fall flat on your face everyone’s going to see.
If you ever slipped on ice as child in front of school mates you know how horrid that feeling is. I don’t think the sensation really changes much when you become an adult and metaphorically take that same spill. It’s lead me to holding back from taking on different projects. Well I’ve gotten my personal lesson loud and clear, life’s short and it’s time for me to be bold and daring! That’s my theme for next year. The fear is going to be checked out the front door and I’m going to allow my muse to do what she will.
What in your life do you want to be brave about? Have you ever had a sequence of things happen that’ve lead you to a particular conclusion? I’d love to hear your stories.
Also I have to just say thank you to my wonderful husband who’s rolled up his sleeves picked up all the duties I can no longer do and taken excellent care of me. I’m a stay at home mother who works out of the home and after surgery I couldn’t lift more than 10lbs for a month! A huge problem when my baby is 18lbs and my toddler is 33. :Gah: Love you honey.
