Supernatural Sunday- Calling Me Back

Today we're lucky enough to have the wonderfully wicked Alexandra O'Hurley as our first guest blogger for Supernatural Sunday!

Calling Me Back

When I was seven, my mom and I had just moved to Virginia from Maryland, about four hours away. I was very close to my maternal grandparents before moving, so it was an adjustment.

One night, I dreamed about my grandfather. We were in a very large, dark space, and he was far ahead of me, walking away into a bright light. I started screaming for him, and the fear I felt was immense. I woke up still screaming for him and my mother rushed into my room.

I begged her to call him, and make sure he was okay, but she didn't want to bother them in the middle of the night, and promised she would call first thing in the morning as soon as we woke up. I begged her to call him, and make sure he was okay, but she didn't want to bother them in the middle of the night, and promised she would call first thing in the morning as soon as we woke up.

The morning came, and before my mother could call, my grandmother called her and asked if I was okay.

"Yes, why?" My mother asked.

"Because your father heard her screaming his name last night."

To this day, I still believe I saved my grandfather from dying that night.

All I can say is wow. That's some powerful stuff Alex, thank you for sharing it.! What do you think readers?

A Marine's Message : Supernatural Sunday

Supernatural Sunday

This post is coming in late. But it's one of my best!

A Marine's Message

My husband is a marine and this incident occurred during one of my visits pre-marriage in the barracks. My then boyfriend left for work about four in the morning before the sun rose leaving me in the room alone. When I was awakened from my sleep maybe ten minutes after his departure I figured he must have forgotten something. Until I felt someone I knew wasn't him standing above me. When I peered up my heart was filled with fear. Standing over me was the shape of a man in a uniform, but his form was almost translucent. I convinced myself I was dreaming and closed my eyes only to be literally shaken awake a few moments later.

I didn't' think I could be more frightened, but then the marine spoke. "I need to talk to my Mom; I want to talk to my Mom." Caught in his grasp I was unable to speak or move until his form rushed across the room in a frantic manor. Eventually he faded away and I regained my faculties , rushing to the light switch and remaining in the bed. When I texted my then boyfriend to tell him" Your room is fucking haunted." His reply was. " I know."

Things to know before you spend the night somewhere. I was so shaken by this event he ended up renting me a hotel room afraid to leave me alone. It turned out this particular room was known for being haunted, and his roommate had come into contact with this entity on more than one occasion. To this day , thinking about this event gives me goose bumps.

Have any of you ever run into an unfriendly entity?

Launch of Supernatural Sundays!

null

Supernatural Sunday has arrived! As a writer of paranormal and a horror movie junkie I've always had an interest in things that can't be explained. I had an experience out with my daughter that helped me dream up what I anticipate will be a unique and fun experience! Each Sunday I'll share something from real life that's deliciously other worldly. Guest bloggers are welcome! So if you have a spooktacular story to share contact me :D Without further adieu , the first post

I had an interesting thing happen to me at the mall that made me wonder If I was alone. The kidlet and I were cruising the mall when someone stopped me to ask If I'd ever had a spiritual reading. I told her yes, and she proceeded to tell me I had a strong aura full of positive energy. You're thinking "What a crock" . but the truth is I've been told these by numerous people. From a tarot card reader, an aura reader in New Orleans and a close personal friend with psychic abilities.

The general consensus is my aura is blue, I'm a nurturer and very maternal with a lot of strength and in my past lives are quite interesting.. but that's a story for another Sunday : Winks: Do you Know what color your Aura is?

Letters From the Sky

It's been a while since a song has moved me so much. But I stumbled upon "Letter from the sky" by Civil Twilight, my chest grew tight, my tears flowed and the love I held for my husband rushed to the forefront. For those of you who don't know my husband is a marine, so songs about leaving have can have a completely different connotation for me. The lyrics are beautiful the lead singers voice haunting, and the arrangement magnificent. My fingers flew over my computer keys as if they danced along with the notes and a new story is in the process of being developed.

What songs have moved you so intensely?

Spellbound Review

Spellbound Cover

Spellbound starts off and places you into the thick of action. Demons, witches destiny and young love explode across the screen. I wasn't even a page in, and I had a list of questions I wanted answered. This was a smart move expertly executed by the clever Ms. Combs. As we move on from the prologue we meet our Hero. Logan is a dark haired cutie who's breezing his way through his senior year of high school. Nothing much happens in the tiny town of Lancaster, New Hampshire. So when he see's three new girls in the office he stops to say hi, and his heart skips a beat.

Our heroine Serena star has arrived on the scene. Her honey colored hair is a mass of spirals that Logan wants to touch and I can picture vividly. Samantha has a real gift for imagery. She manipulated the words like a pro, and I have no problem envisioning the characters and their setting. From the first day she arrived we get the sense there' something strange about Serena Starr. She appears and disappears in the blink of an eye and abnormal activity occurs around her.

Logan witnesses it , but remains quiet because to him all that matters is he likes her. Serena is sweet, intelligent and beautiful. She's the perfect match for well mannered and romantic Logan, except she's a teen witch, better known as a twitch. Twitches are watched by the council that governs them, and her eldest sister makes it clear they would not approve of her dalliance with a 'normal'.

I developed a girlish crush on Logan. This is high-school sweethearts at its best. The joyous burst of emotions felt when you meet that special someone is contagious as it jumps off the page. Samantha does an excellent job of staying true to the teenage experience while inserting action, suspense and romance. The twists and turns of the plot kept me off kilter, and I was stunned when the Starr family came clean with Logan. His love interest is a future member of a the council, and it's no coincidence they landed in Lancaster. There are dark forces at work.

Serena has chosen Logan, and this means he has an important role to play too. But we won't know how important until further in to the book. The conflict with the council escalates, and the story takes a deliciously dark turn. Once the tiny town of Lancaster is over run by demons, all bets are off.

This story has it all; romance, adventure, myth and a well thought out plot. I loved how Samantha linked the lives of the characters together and gave each one their own time to shine.

The descriptions are magnificent as she breathes life to this strange new world she's created.

With witches who fly on broom sticks, have the gift of site, transform, and so much more. I would describe it as a Harry Potter for the modern, edgier teen. My one complaint was at times the scenes felt a bit long. I'd have liked to see some of them shortened. I would highly recommend this to YA and paranormal fans.

This comes to you courtesy of the website Romancing The Book.

Inspiration Strikes, Misfits Marathon

Newest obsession! The British tv show Misfits. It's about a bunch of teens doing community service who are caught in a strange electrical storm and gain powers. All I can say is its brilliant! There's drama, adventure, mystery, and intrigue. Even better than that it's been a huge inspiration! There's nothing like young love and fresh faces to get those creative juices flowing! Another huge bonus , the soundtrack is sick. I'm always happy to find a jewel and pass it along to others. If you're tired of the same ole same ole check this one out.

Its true , everything happens when your husband is away

Just wanted to share my latest adventure in military land. We have a saying that goes " everything happens when your husband is away." I'm claiming this as truth now. My husband just left for trainging on Saturday. Monday morning I woke up to a nasty spider bite. I've never had one before, but when the tiny red circle spread , raised and grew hot to the touch i knew it was time to go to the hospital. 3 prescriptions later I'm back on the mend. I have to say i've watched to many horror movies because the moment i realized it was a spider bite my mind was filled with rotting flesh. Sometimes a vivid imagination isn't the best thing to have lol.
