My inane thoughts for the day...

Okay, so I'm completely piddle-farting around here... yes, I know, I know- C'mon K.B. and write! Well, I am or at least I was writing until I got this wild hair up my butt to begin decorating for Christmas! I can't tell you how horrible this is to have an entire movie playing out in my head, and then "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus" suddenly becomes the soundtrack (in Michael Jackson's voice no less) in the background! So, as I deck the halls, and trust me, with a little more Chardonnay, I could quite possibly deck a hall over here, The Moon Coven is running rampant over in the UK, and the SHC is doing their level best to reign me in!Who do you think is going to win?The Christmas "Spirits" or the combined forces of The Moon Coven &  the Supernatural and Human CollectiveLeave a comment below <3As Always, until next time,Twitchy-Witchy Kisses,K.B.,XOXO

Mel's Review of Primal Possession by Katie Reus

As his pack's second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants-
until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended
mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection.

December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam had gotten under her skin in a way she hadn't
thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear.

When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is
attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going
to take her to places within herself she never knew existed.

Mel's Review              4 Triple Goddess MoonsI really enjoyed this book! It was as interesting as the main characters name. I am not usually a big fan of books told from many different characters points of view but Katie did it so seamlessly I didn't mind it at all.Not only has she created strong appealing characters and backgrounds but she has also managed to create a fantastic world for them to reside in. My only complaint would be that the bad guys were handled a little too easily but that's not even a complaint so much as an observation. I happily got lost in this story and after the teaser she left for the next book in the series I can't wait to get lost in that one either. In my opinion, highly recommended!

Author's Korner, Jennifer Malone Wright 10/24/12

I'm seriously super stoked to have one of yours, and my favorite authors of YA vampire/teen angst on Author's Korner today! I give you the amazing, Jennifer Malone Wright
Ok, so, we all know that I have this obsession with vampires and one of my favorite shows is True Blood. So, the thing here is, if I am so obsessed, how is it possible that I didn’t start watching The Vampire Diaries until a few weeks ago?
I know right!!
I know what you’re thinking, but I didn’t know that the show was so good. I thought it was some kind of teeny bopper show that only my 10 year old would like. The reason I started watching it was because my commercial for my book was scheduled to go on during the new season and I figured I better catch up and see what it was all about. Well, needless to say we flew through the first three seasons like they were nothing.
I now have a new obsession. I just don’t know how it’s possible that I didn’t know about this show. I absolutely love Damon! He is my new TV crush. Seriously, I even bought a ticket to the Vampire Diaries convention.
Its funny how one obsession and so quickly be changed to a new obsession. The thing I think I like most about The Vampire Diaries show, besides Damon, is that the story line is so good. It’s different and interesting, compared to the True Blood story line, which I think is going downhill. I am so glad that I watched The Vampire Diaries that day!
What’s your obsession lately?
Jennifer Malone Wright Jennifer Malone Wright resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and fivechildren. Between the craziness of taking care of her children, whose ages range from sixteen all the way down to two years, and being a homemaker, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on freelance work of her beloved fiction.
When she grew up, Jennifer always had her nose in a book. She has been writing stories and poems since grade school. This love of the written word and her strong interest in the paranormal is what has led to her first novel "The Birth of Jaiden," and her new series "The Vampire Hunter's Daughter."
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Jennifer is also a very proud military wife. Moving around the country for the last eleven years has made her a bit of a nomad and she finds it difficult to be in one place for too long.
The Vampire Hunter's Daughter Collection
This special edition of The Vampire Hunter's Daughter contains parts I-VI, the complete collection.Fourteen-year-old Chloe witnesses her mother's murder at the hands of a vampire. Before the vampire can kidnap her, there is an unexpected rescue by a group of vampire hunters. Overwhelmed by the feeling of safety, Chloe passes out and they whisk her away to their small community.
When Chloe wakes, she comes face to face with the only other living relative, besides her mother, whom she has ever met: her grandfather. Chloe's mother kept her hidden from the family; now, Chloe tries to unveil the family secrets. Through her grandfather, she learns her mother was a vampire hunter. In fact, her entire family is descended from the powerful bloodlines of vampire hunters. Chloe agrees to join the family she has never known for one reason only: Chloe vows to kill the vampire responsible for her mother's murder.
With vengeance in her soul, Chloe is even more determined to follow through on her vow when she discovers the true identity of her enemy and how he is connected to her.
Experience the world of vampire hunter's, vampires and mythology with Chloe in this exciting series.

The Birth of Jaiden
Long ago, a prophecy was foreseen. A child would be born, a child who held the power to destroy the world. Now, it is up to Alexander Lucas, a one-hundred-year-old vampire, to keep the baby girl safe from his arch enemy Malcom. In order to save her, Alexander must raise the child as his own. Will he be able to resist his vampire tendencies to care for a human baby? With the help of the wisest of the supernatural, an organization called The Great Council, Alexander must face many battles to ensure the safety of this very special child.
Beyond the Writing:

A Guide to Self Publishing and Marketing
Writers are driven often by creativity and artistic expression, which is great for the creation process.Once the book is written, though, a whole different type of process is required to market and promote the author and the book, and that's something many authors have little knowledge or experience doing. To become a successful author, a writer must learn there is more to writing than putting the pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard.
If you're a writer, in order to make a living doing what you love, you must learn the business side of writing. This guide to self-publishing, marketing, and social networking is targeted at authors who want to succeed in the world of independent publishing as professionals. This guide is chock-full of tips, tricks and stategies to help you make your career as an author flourish.

L.A. Freed The Vampire Chronicles October 22

Tempting Blog Tours presentsThe Charleston Vampire ChroniclesBy L.A. Freed

Write What You Know.

When I first became a writer I was introduced to the mantra “write what you know.”  Most beginning writers take this quite literally and think they must write about a hobby they enjoy, or their families, or kids, career, etc.  What it really entails is much broader, and as a writer you have carte blanche to spread what you know throughout all of your writing.
I don’t really know anything about vampires. I’ve never met one. All I have to work with is what I’ve read in other books, or watched in movies.  And, let’s face it, vampires aren’t real, but by writing what I DO know, I make them real.
All writers do this. We inject ourselves into our characters. It may be something as subtle as the way a character wears their hair, the color of their eyes, the tilt of their head.  More likely it goes beyond subtle to include our emotions, needs, and desires. By digging down deep into our own existence, we create our make-believe worlds to be rich with details for both our characters and our readers.
I will admit that in BLOOD THIRST, the first of my Charleston Vampire Chronicles, I patterned Ainjul after myself.  I was her. She was me. Of course I embellished her somewhat. She’s much prettier than I am. But who she is, her persona, her backstory, even most of her mannerisms are me. Or, I guess I really should say she WAS me. I wrote that story in 1989 when I was in my 20’s. When I read her today, I cringe. I don’t like her anymore, but that’s because I’m not that same person. But what I’m trying to impress upon you is that I wrote what I knew. I knew who I was, and that became largely who she was. Being a vampire was just icing on the cake because when we are twenty-something we are all immortal.
Moving onto BLOOD DIVIDED, the second book of the Charleston Vampire Chronicles – this one is Matthew Trenton’s story.  I can’t say I was Matthew. I wasn’t. But there are certain traits that I passed to him from my list of things I wanted to be – rich, powerful, adventurous. And the history - I love history, so once again I wrote what I knew, injecting things that I love onto my character and my story. There is one scene in particular when he is staring out the window watching a single snowflake fall to the ground - that is definitely me, something I do all the time (well, not so  much in South Carolina, LOL!)
And finally, BLOOD FEUD. This one brings it full circle. I have once again grabbed all the stuff I know and pushed it off to my main character, Kate. I am very much like Kate, from her love of photography to her wit and even her foul mouth, I definitely have written what I know. And what’s so much fun about this book is that we (Kate and I) are both older. We look at the world differently. My experiences in life have transferred to her. She has a certain confidence and grace that I think I possess. She’s a go-getter and rolls with the punches. I like Kate. But then again, I like myself at this point in my life.
What this boils down to is… write what you know, inject yourself into your characters and they will blossom and grow into real people that you will love and hate and can share with your readers. And if you happen to be a reader and not a writer, rest assured that you are truly getting a personal glimpse into the author’s personal life when you crack open the pages of a new novel.
L.A. Freed

Author BiographyL.A. Freed, author of The Charleston Vampire Chronicles, is a true renaissance woman and lives, works, and plays in Charleston, SC. She is employed full time and works nights at The Post and Courier. It's highly unlikely that she sleeps in a coffin during the day because she's too busy training dogs to compete in AKC, USDAA and CPE agility and obedience. She also dabbles in photography and art, and has won numerous awards for her work. In a past life she trained, showed and boarded horses. She is a life member of the AQHA and owns two Quarter Horse mares.

My heart slammed inside my chest as I fought him. My fear became anger; I knew I would die before I'd let him violate me. I squirmed beneath him and bucked violently, nearly knocking him off. He retaliated by driving his weight harder against me and shoving his knee into my belly. Vomit rose in my throat.Cold pain pierced my neck, and I drew in a strangled gasp as I realized he must have a knife. Wet warmth slid across my throat. He pressed his face against me and locked his mouth over the source of my pain. Warmth spread through me and grew into the heat of need. I found myself pushing into him as my fear dissolved. My heart slowed and matched each pull as he drew the very life out of me. Pounding. Pounding. Pounding. It was ecstasy, and I wanted it to go on forever. Then the sound of my heart grew faint, and he pulled away from me.He lifted his head and turned to look at me. Blood colored his lips like the grease paint smile of a clown, and ran in a jagged line from the corner of his mouth to the tip of his chin where it hung in a small, clotted drip. He smiled. The sight of the small, sharp fangs shocked me back into fear. THIS IS DEATH.

Overwhelmed with guilt at the sin that was his undoing and the monster he's become, the vampire, Matthew Trenton, stows away on a ship bound for the New World in an attempt to start over.     Through sheer perseverance, he survives the hardships and savagery of the untamed shores of Charles Town. Then, vampires begin to come to him to die, and he realizes what an enigma he is among them, but why? What makes him so different?     He needs mortals for blood, but also depends on them for companionship and verification that his existence has reason.  He has an overwhelming need to guide them, protect them, and sway them with his ideas for the future of his new country.      As his mortal companions die, and his country begins to tear itself apart in war, he faces despair so deep that he contemplates his own end … until he sees his sister's child on the docks.      Filled with a new reason to exist, he watches his family grow.  Time comes full circle when Angela Trenton is born. She not only carries his family name, but is the very image of his beloved sister. He falls hopelessly in love with her. And he knows in order to keep her with him forever he will need to discover why his blood is divided.

Fifteen years ago, an auto accident killed Kate Delwen’s husband and son. In an instant, her life changed forever. Little did she know then, their deaths were no accident.Tonight, her life will turn upside down again, just as the immortals intended so many years ago. She will die, be reborn and emerge as a reluctant hero amid a world of powerful vampires embroiled in an ancient Blood Feud.

Author's Korner, Charlotte Johnson Bennardo 10/17

I'm so super excited to have, Author Charlotte Johnson Bennardo on Author's Korner today! Sit back with a nice warm beverage, and let her tell you a story!

I love doing guest posts; it’s a chance to let people see a part of me that they wouldn’t glimpse through my books, on my websites, or even in person at a book signing. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to decide what to share. What would you like to know? Ok, I won’t do a playlist because (horrors!) I can’t listen to music when I write. I need to get into my characters without distractions (I tend to sing along.) And my taste is all over the place- from classical to techno (Anyone else brave enough to admit that?). Books? Love too many to list (I don’t follow ‘trends’ generally and my taste is so eclectic. Only things I won’t read are political, religious and technical books. Wht do YOU avoid?) TV shows? I don’t watch all that much. Does your partner hog the DVR like mine?). Person I’d love to have dinner with? Hmm. It’s too hard to choose between an actor that I’m gaga over (want him to play Hades in the Sirenz movie… and maybe I could beg him to bring the project to Hollywood. Ask me and I’ll tell you who…) or a number of favored authors, but I just can’t decide. So I’ll go with movies. These are my top ten, order subject to change on whim, weather, and whatever:
The Lord of The Rings (trilogy which will soon include The Hobbit). Who can argue with this? The Underworld series. Anyone NOT love Selene? We have nothing further to discuss.Ladyhawke. Romance, magic, humor, despair, redemption. Sighs happily.Independence Day. OMG Will Smith simply ROCKS!The Mummy. Brendan Fraser and Oded Fehr—decisions, decisions…Blade. I prefer the first, but will happily sit through the others.Sherlock Holmes, with Robert Downey Jr. Has nerdiness and OCD ever been sexier??It’s A Wonderful Life. A seasonal reminder how interconnected we are, and that we are all important.A Christmas Carol. The message is simple and universal: we are here to care for each other, reach out.Star Wars (episodes 4, 5, 6) Will watch the others, but for me it’s Han Solo all the way, although I am unnaturally attracted to the darkness of Darth Vader (must be the cape).

Author Name Charlotte Bennardo, co-authored with Natalie Zaman
Author Biography When I’m not enjoying a chai latte and devising agonizing situations for my characters, I’m writing, reading, gardening, swimming, and trying to guide my three sons to adulthood in New Jersey. And chasing the stupid deer so they won’t chew everything and poop everywhere. I am loved by my husband, my two cats (I think) and a homeless squirrel.

Blurb  Two girls, one pair of gorgeous designer shoes—on sale. A fight leads to a tragic subway accident, leaving Meg and Shar in a precarious situation. Only Hades, seductive Greek god of the Underworld, can extricate them. They must become his new sirens, luring an unfortunate soul to the Underworld, in between avoiding traps from other gods in the pantheon. Failure means not only losing the shoes—but their souls.

Blurb Thinking they are free, Hades pulls out the ‘you should have read the fine print’ trick—and once again Meg and Shar are indentured to his haute-ness, but this time, he’s going to divide to conquer; one stays in the mortal realm, one goes to Tartarus, and there are plenty of meddling gods between them and a normal life.

Author's Korner, Jenny Phillips 10/10

Today, I'm thrilled to have new author, Jenny Phillips on Author's Korner! I've been keeping my eye on her, and you should too! She just released the first part in a new novella series called, Twisted. I read... well, check out my review below:) Take it away Jenny!

If you’re like me, you rolled your eyes when your mother said, “I hope you have a daughter just like you”. Somewhere my mother is laughing her head off because I ended up with a daughter just like me…two actually. You have to understand that even as a child I exhibited traits of a writer. I could daydream for hours, had an intense imagination, and a weird attraction to scary movies. I will never forget a sleepover I had. We watched Friday the 13th, all the other girls were huddled together under layers of blankets on the couch while I sat alone in the middle of the floor transfixed by this complex character Jason. I remember looking up and wondering if I should be on the couch scared and screaming. The first time I realized my oldest may share some of these characteristics was when she asked for an Edward Cullen doll for her third birthday. Now that she’s five she’s moved on to Hunger Games, while my now three year old is enjoying the hand-me-down Edward doll and reliving her sister’s love of all things Twilight.Their new obsessions are the Monster High Dolls. I’m actually pretty jealous, I would’ve chosen those dolls over Barbies any day! My mother encouraged my own creativity and indulged my imagination with not only scary movies but fantasy worlds like the Labrynth or the Dark Crystal. She also made sure I had an endless supply of books. I was devouring books by Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine while most girls were reading Sweet Valley High. I’m happy to do the same with my own girls. They love to sit and pretend to be writing their own stories like mommy. Now that my oldest is in Kindergarten she can’t wait to learn to read and I can’t wait to buy her first chapter book. Now when I get to repeat my mother’s words I have a little laugh knowing that they will get their paybacks but also that they will get to feel the pride in knowing they’re little ones may grow up to be just like them.   About the Author Born in Michigan, Jenny Phillips has never strayed far from the beaches of Lake Michigan. Armed with a big imagination, Jenny would sit in the woods surrounding her home for hours just day dreaming. After losing her mother to ALS, she vowed she would make the most of her life and never let her imagination go to waste. When not reading or obsessively buying books, she spends her time with her two beautiful daughters and husband.

Twisted (A Twisted Fairy Tale Novella Series) Gianna’s life has not been easy. She’s merely counted down the days until she can leave Fort Miami, with all the stares and whispers behind. However, when her childhood friend Hunter returns, it forces her to face memories she’s tried to forget. But what memories are real and which ones are that of an eight year olds imagination?

Hunter doesn’t remember anything from that horrific night. Can Gianna trust someone who seems to have forgotten her once before? Can she put the pieces of that night together before it’s too late and she loses everyone she loves, even if that means believing in something that she’s only faced in her nightmares?

Twisted is the first installment in A Twisted Fairy Tale Novella Series.

Gifted (Gifted #1) Plagued by recurring dreams of a faceless, yet strangely familiar man, and struggling to adapt to unique powers, Morgan Cauldwell moves halfway across the country to Manchester Academy. Once at MAC, Morgan meets the mysterious Chase Thomas. He knows more about Morgan than she knows about herself, and through him, Morgan learns she is Gifted. With the help of Chase and the Gifted Council, Morgan begins to learn how to control and develop the powers that have kept her isolated her whole life.

While the mysteries of her dream man begin to unfold, Morgan’s powers quickly surpass even the Council’s expectations. But how much power should one person be allowed to possess…and at what price? Morgan finds herself face to face with her worst nightmares, where nothing is as it seems and not all Gifted are content with the powers they’ve been given.

My Review    5 Triple Goddess MoonsI absolutely loved Twisted! I am seriously impressed by Jenny Phillips' overwhelming ability to weave a magical tale playing off of an old fairy tale. The characters are completely believable, because they are totally realistic. The plot flowed perfectly, and she left us with an awesome cliffhanger. She has created a world that I would love to follow the breadcrumbs to get to! Great job, Jenny! I will grabbing the next one as soon as it's available! Go get yours now!
