Mel's Review of Obsessive by Atoya Morris
BlurbTrevor Collins is quite content with his life as a reclusive vampire. He comes and goes as he pleases, takes blood and finds comfort in the arms of any female he chooses. But that all changes the night a small woman enters his life, near death due to a savage car accident. Set on saving her life and sending her on her way as soon as possible, he ignores the way his mind and body reacts to her. That is, before he inadvertently places her in even more danger. Now he will do anything—including sacrificing his own life—to protect her. Lindsay Peterson, a survivor of many hardships, finds herself saved from one terrible fate only to be thrust within the dangerous jaws of another. She is not looking for love, just survival, but when she unwittingly finds herself the target of a murderous vampire queen—one determined to see Lindsay on the receiving end of her massive fangs—it is a task seemingly more difficult than any she’s faced before. Even with Trevor by her side, will they be able to survive what the vampire queen has in store for them?Mel's Review
2 PenguinsIt was ok. The book was so short it almost shouldn't have been a paperback and there really wasn't enough detail to the characters or their back story to really get pulled in. I loved the idea of the three big characters but as two of them were very old vampires (one a vampire queen thousands of years old) I really would have liked to know more about them and what lead them to the point they were at in the story. It wasn't bad it just felt unfinished but definitely has potential to be really good with a little more detail.Stalker Links

Mel's Review of Erotic Deception by Karen Cote'
BlurbHer brother was dead. He’d practically raised her and stood by her during a miscarriage that left her barren. He’d been the sole person she’d had left in this world. How had Dr. Lily Delaney with a PhD in Psychology missed the psychotic signs of Anthony Capriccio, the Kansas City District Attorney and her ex-fiancé? Now at twenty-nine she was on the run to hide from the impending threats to her own life. But on the road to a safe secluded lake community, Lily crashes into the path of a new dangerous element, literally. One with deep blue eyes who totes a badge and carries a gun. And would their budding relationship be threatened when Lily finds out her own doctor had lied and discovers she really can have children? How would the sheriff take knowing she’d gotten pregnant when she’d already heartily assured him she wasn’t?After his experience as a detective in Kansas City, Missouri, Jet Walker enjoyed his life as sheriff of the quiet lake community, Windom Hills. However, when Lily Delaney literally crashes into his car and life, his world disrupts into chaos. Couldn’t the woman do anything normal? Between fighting to protect her and fighting against his growing attraction for her, the previous peace Jet had found was now falling apart. And how could he possibly trust another woman after the trick his ex-wife played in trying to pass off another man’s child as his?
Mel's Review
4 PenguinsI liked this book it got right into the story which definitely had a twist at the end I didn't see coming. Although, contrary to the title it was not overly stuffed with sex and the scenes that had intimate moments were well done, also the Sheriff was the stuff girls daydream about so I have no complaints there. :) My only complaint would be that the story was too short. The characters and plot were so good I really felt like there could have been much more detail in the story, but if you are looking for a good short story with a little heat this is worth a read.Stalker Links

Author's Korner with JD Nelson
I extended an invitation, and Author JD Nelson said yes! I'm so excited for you guys to get to know this amazing writer. I asked her to let you guys in on a few of her favorite things, and did she EVER deliver! Check out her answers, her questions for you, and her amazing books!Top ten songs? Wow, I’m not sure if I could ever narrow it down, but I can tell you my ten favorite albums.
1. Bon Iver – Bon Iver (Awesome for writing heartfelt scenes)2. Interpol - Interpol3. Manchester Orchestra – Simple Math (Just the best writing music—ever)4. Grizzly Bear - Veckaimest5. St. Vincent – Strange Mercy6. Everest – Ownerless7. Bon Iver – Blood Bank8. The Antlers – Undersea9. Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever ago10. Nine Inch Nails – With Teeth (My favorite to write action scenes to)
My favorite movies
I’d have to say, without a doubt, that my favorite movie of all time is the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. Mr Darcy! *swoon* It’s a tossup between the French movie Amelie and Easy A for my second favorite.
Favorite T.V. shows
I love True Blood and Vampire Diaries, but my favorite TV show (since The Secret Circle went off the air) is Hart of Dixie. I always make time to watch it. How could I not love a show about a fictional town set just below my hometown, Mobile Alabama?
YOUR favorite books
My all-time favorite book is Nice Girls don’t have Fangs by Molly Harper. The entire Jane Jameson series is really great! I also love the Ruby Blue Series by Julie Cassar, the Broken Heart Series by Michele Bardsley, the Edge Series by Ilona Andrews, and anything by JR Ward and Nalini Singh. I could name my favorites all day! There are so many more!!
Person that you would most want to meet and have dinner with and why?
PC Cast. She literallygot me into writing. When I began reading her House of Night Series, I loved it so much that I had a fangirl moment and sent her an email praising the series. To my surprise, she wrote me back later that day. In the email, she thanked me and then mentioned that I have an eloquent way of writing. I almost had a heart attack on the spot! After the shock wore off, I started thinking. Was she right? Do I have what it takes to be a writer like her? Needless to say, I went for it. I pulled up a blank word document and started that day.
JD asks YOU a few questions, and they are Awesome!
*** Elves aren’t really the most popular of supernatural creatures, but they have always been my favorite to write about. What unusual creature do you wish more authors included in their books?
*** Soren, one of my main characters in Night Aberrations, can transfigure into an owl. What animal would you become, if you could? I would be a panther!
*** Play it safe? Or not? A Night of Wickedness has a sexy Vampire and a hot Werewolf. If you were a Tree Nymph, like Korrina is, would you be tempted to choose the wolf because he’s closer to nature, like you, or would you like the challenge of taming a vampire?
Author Biography JD Nelson grew up in humid, rain-soaked Alabama, though she does not like the rain or the heat. If she could have chosen where she was raised, it would have been in the San Francisco BayArea, which is where she moved to, as soon as the opportunity arose. She has since left the Bay Area for the slower pace of Central California and enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her husband in the minuscule amount of free time that she has.

Upon their deaths, the magic she had denied for so long disappeared, forcing her into a world of survival, and worse, betrayal. Book Blurb
Mature 18+ for adult situations.
Obsidian Raines is everything I hate in a new neighbor. He’s considerate, sexy, and a wealthy vampire.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, he sounds hot, right? Well, he is hot, but that’s not the point. If you were a nymph you would understand. Life for us is no picnic; most of us end up stalkers, sex addicts, and prostitutes. I am no exception to this rule, which is why I was sent to the middle of nowhere Alabama to be alone. How was I supposed to know that he would inadvertently destroy all of my therapist’s progress?

They are experts who expand on a human’s natural gifts and talents to create supreme world leaders in all major areas of science, art, religion, and leadership. A select few are handpicked each year to join the elite.
This year, as a final test of induction into the world’s most powerful super structure, five teens are dropped from a specially designed LearJet and land on a barren arctic island. They are forced to come together in an effort to survive and escape. Unfortunately, escape is short lived when a Russian ballistic submarine rescues them and a computer malfunction threatens an all-out nuclear attack on North America. Time is running out and the sub’s programmer cannot stop the computer failure. It is up to the teens to convince the Russians they should be allowed to give it a try.
Tick tock.

Mel's Review
1 Triple Goddess Moon
I was excited buying this book because not only I do I love all things paranormal but there was a new Sookie Stackhouse and Night Huntress story in it and they are two of my favorite series. Since there were so many stories in it I was also really hoping to find some new authors to follow. Unfortunately other than the two big named authors whose stories were just ok I got almost nothing out of it. They were rather dull and I struggled through many of them. One or two were clever idea's but thats about it. In all my years of reading this is the first time ever that I wasn't able to make myself finish a book and I have had it for almost a year. I love Kat and Sookie and while the stories were fun they were too short to make it worth paying what they were asking for the book so I would have rather went without. I absolutely hate giving a bad review but I wouldn't waste my time with this one. Not recommended.

Author's Korner Lisa C. Morgan 11/14/2012
I'm so honored to have this week's guest on Author's Korner. Not only is she one of my favorite Authors, but she is a friend of mine. Read her guest post and you'll see why this author is ripping up the charts faster than Clark Kent trying to save Lois Lane!Guest Post by Lisa C. Morgan
We are on the cusp…shortly, snowflakes will begin to sprinkle over the North and the temperatures will dip. Hooray for the Holiday season! In my home, the holiday season begins early- with three children, all November babies, the baking and decorating begins in early, and even as the kids grow older (this year, celebrating birthdays #17, 13, and 12) I am amazed they haven’t abandoned those little traditions that I attempting when they were younger.Thanksgiving is more to my family than merely a great reason to eat roast turkey- although, that is a great reason! My ancestors were among those to make the long trip across the Atlantic Ocean on the Mayflower, attempting to make a new life in the New World. We spend the weeks leading up to the celebration retelling our family’s story. Not just the Pilgrim’s struggles, but also the path my husband’s family took to get here, as well as other ancestors. Some fled persecution in Romania and Italy, others dared to venture to America from Ireland to provide a better life and future for their children. We honor them annually by creating a huge family tree. Each family name is written on a leaf. We retell their tale as it was shared with us and then add it to the branches. This hangs on a wall in our dining room. Finally, on Thanksgiving, my husband and I retell our story- how we met, fell in love, and the day our children were born, adding a leaf with our names on it. We sit and really look at it- a visualization of where we came from, of those souls who so willingly many, many years ago, persevered so that we would be here. It has always served to remind my children that the spirit of family does not just exist in the here and now- but has been a steadily growing, living thing- that brings us to today. We have other fun traditions that begin as Christmas approaches. There is the traditional cookie and candy making (and strange…everyone wants to pitch in when we make the alcohol laced confections…) that we package up and give away to friends, family, and teachers, as well as leaving some for the mailman, garbage man, and others who may not get the attention they deserve all year round, acknowledging what they do for us. Each Friday and Saturday is Family Movie Night, and in the weeks leading to Christmas Eve, the films are always of a holiday theme. Yes, many we have seen a thousand times before, but as we nibble on muffins and sip hot cocoa, it’s the memories we’re making together- reciting those famous lines and still laughing at Elf that I hope remain with my children.By far, the most important and touching holiday tradition my family celebrate happens on Christmas Eve. Every single light in our home, with exception of the tree, are shut off and replaced by candles. Together with our cocoa and cookies (always cookies) we watch It’s A Wonderful Life (in black and white) together. We sit in silence and watch George Bailey come to learn how the world would be so drastically different without one man’s touch. And really, if you think about it, it’s so very true. There is no way for us to know how very important we really are, how many lives we touch every single day without our knowing. Maybe it’s that funny post on Facebook that gave a laugh to someone else having a bad day. Perhaps it is when we let that stranger in the car out into traffic ahead of us who in reality is rushing to get somewhere before it’s too late; maybe parking just a few spots further away so that the elderly couple who suffer from the aches and pains of old age don’t have to walk those extra steps.I could spend thousands and thousands of dollars on brightly wrapped gifts under the tree, and yes, my kids would love it. But it was my son two years ago who said something that honestly made me cry. After watching It’s A Wonderful Life that evening, when we were all heading off to bed, Sam said to me “Mom…It doesn’t matter what I get tomorrow morning, sitting together as a family is the best gift ever.”While I enjoy the carols, I love the thrill of the hunt on Black Friday, (I will take stuff out of a cart if no one is looking…you’ve been warned…) and I even revel in all the cooking and baking, it is those memories spent with my family that will survive long after the turkey is gone and the paper has been thrown away.May you and your have a very Happy Holiday Season!~Lisa C. Morgan~

A lover of books and words, it has always been her desire to tell stories that the people near her could listen and read, escaping the world around them by way of the page. Always having a new story idea popping into her head, (sometimes at the least appropriate of times,) Lisa can always be found with a notebook and writing utensil somewhere within reach, just as her 8th grade teacher made her promise to do.Lisa has two short stories previously published in anthologies. A Romantic short titled Nothing’s Terminal (A Home for the Holidays; December, 2011) and a zombie themed short titled Antidote (The Thorn of Death; March 2012). Her debut novel- Phoenix Rising is the first in a new YA series Maggie Henning & The Realm and will be released July 2012. Upcoming will be the continuation in the series- Phoenix Burning, Phoenix Shadow, and Phoenix Ashes. When she isn't writing or taxing kids, Lisa enjoys reading, football, softball, cooking, singing & dancing, tattoos, and spending time with family and friends.
Maggie has lived the last ten years with a woman who isn't her mother and carrying the label "Daughter of John Henning", a man sentenced to live out his days at Sunnyview Psychiatric Hospital after his conviction of fire bombing a church...and killing the 8 people inside.
What Maggie learns will change her life.
She is the last of a race of creatures known as "The Phoenix", a race of supernatural beings with the ability to wield and control fire.
And she will need that power now...
Revenants- walking, living, skeletal creatures who have waged a war against an unseen, parallel world known simply as The Realm- need Maggie's blood to bring them to a full power...a power that will give them an unbeatable edge and offer the deciding weapon in this war.
Maggie is not alone as she learns not only what she really is, but what it is her destiny to become...
Maggie Henning has learned what she really is- the last of an ancient race of Phoenix. She knows who her enemy is- Ossa, the leader of the Revenant Army. And as she had thought the toughest battle fought, she only now is learning the road ahead is harder still.
In the hopes of returning one of the Realm Princes, Maggie must barter with the Angels for his release, but the path to such a discussion is not an easy one.Traveling with one prince to save the other, Maggie soon learns that there is no black and white in The Realm, that the lines between good and evil, love and hate, are at best, blurry.
She will learn a truth from the past, and see an option for a different future. Maggie must decided what path it is she will take.
With power over fire, Maggie must chose. Do you set aside the plans destiny lays out for you, or do you burn along with fate?
