My review of Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

BlurbFinally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

My Review 5 OwlsWow. Just when I thought that I couldn't love Travis anymore... I was wrong! Mrs. McGuire did an absolutely fabulous job with the complexity of this character. Giving us the answers we desperately craved from Travis's POV. On the surface, Travis Maddox is a shallow ladies man. When you peel back his layers, he's a dynamic character. A tattoo'd bundle of emotions. Very easy on the eyes.
I don't think that I can say Walking Disaster was better than Beautiful Disaster or vice versa. They each hold a special place in my literary heart. Just a warning... have lots of tissues on hand for this one folks!
Bravo, Jamie!

New Blog Layout!

It's not often that I sit and compose a blog post that is anything other than a review, but I felt this one was warranted :)

Over the course of the past few months, I have received countless emails and private messages providing opinions and support about the direction in which I was going to proceed with the "promotional" aspect of my writing career. Great, right? Well, the honest answer here is sometimes the advice actually was helpful, and yet other times... not so much.

You see, the reason why some of you know who I am (and that's a small amount of you, LOL) is because of the Authors that came before me that promoted my work. I've always been a pay-it-forward kind of gal. However, at the same time I realize that I usually lack in the area of "Hey girl, you need to promote your work too" If you asked me if there was one thing that I totally sucked at-- it would be self-promotion. But, I working on it ;)

Some of the advice that I recieved was to stop promoting other authors and focus on myself. That's a LOT self-centered to me and I just can't do it. With that being said, I understand that I need to have a few sites that are dedicated to "K.B. Miller", the author.
So, there is a new blog on my Website and that is for the fans. My Website, Twitter, Amazon and Fanpage are all dedicated to my writing, books and me... this blog-- NO! This blog is for me to continue to do something I love, promote all of my author friends!

You're still going to get Self-Publishing 101 on here. You're still going to see my books on here, but now you're also going to see the reviews that I leave for other authors, spotlights, blogtour spots and anything else I can do to help lift up other authors. That's just me.

So... what do you think of the new layout? I designed EVERYTHING myself and I'm super proud!

Oh, FYI in advance... some of the future posts on here will not be for the younger crowd-- you know, graphic language and such.

If there's something that you want to see on here, leave me a comment or shoot me an email. All info can be found in the tabs at the top! Make sure that you poke around-- be nosey! Heaven knows I am! :)

As always, until next time... Kymberlee, XOXO

My review of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Blurb The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

My Review
5 Owls People told me that I wasn't going to enjoy this book. After devouring it in a matter of 48 hours, my response... "Wanna bet?" I'm an author. Contemporary romance is not usually my thing. I write YA and NA Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy. I've always had a hard time reading about events that could actually occur.

But, let me assure you... after reading Beautiful Disaster, I'm now a huge fan of contemporary romance!

The authors writing absolutely fit the genre. The characters were well developed with numerous layers and facets. I became attached to Travis and Abby after mere pages, which speaks volumes. The story line was well thought out and completely believable for the age group that it's written about. And, let's be honest... Mrs. McGuire delivered the one thing that most of us want in a book, a wonderful bad boy to fall in love with!

Walking Disaster releases on my birthday, April 2, and I have my copy preordered and ready to go.

Kudos to Jamie on this wonderful hit!

No Turning Back Blog Tour Guest Post #1

What are your ‘must-haves’ to write, K.B.?
I’ve been asked this question countless times.  Usually, I keep my secrets very close to the vest.  However, today I’m going to tell them all to you!
When I sit down to write, I need candles lit.  My favorite scents are Pumpkin Pie, Appleberry, and Apple Cinnamon.  I’m not really sure how that started, but it has become sort of an obsession now.  No candles = no writing.
My iPod.  When I’m writing a scene, and it doesn’t matter what the scene is, I have to have music.  I have scoured the land of iTunes to find different music, evoking different emotions.
Fuzzy socks.  Okay, now don’t laugh.  Seriously.  I have these particular socks that have Eeyore embroidered on them.  I have 7 pairs and they’re all different colors.  Again, I have no clue how this started, but now it’s a must!
Notebook and special pen. Most of my friends know about this. It's a sckness really. I have to have my leopard print pen and spiral notebook. I'm very much a plotter, and I have to have my special tools to plot ;)
When you write emotionally driven scenes... you get hungry!  I always have a supply of those little Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese and strawberry snack things around. The other go to snack food for me is Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream! That stuff is the BOMB!
The final element needed for me to write is... Coffee.  LOTS of coffee!  My husband says that he believes I have personally helped bankroll that fabulous establishment, LOL!  Well... it’s needed ;)Thank you so much for joining me!  I hope that you follow the rest of the tour.

Mason loves her.
Dax needs her.

Maylee still wants her dead.

The Moon Coven series continues as the highly coveted Spirit Witch, Lilyann Moon, settles into her new destiny─ putting an end to the curse her family initiated more than five hundred years ago, once and for all.

If only her new relationship was as easy to figure out as what she’s going to wear to the annual Winter Ball.

After narrowly escaping the fight in October with his life, her boyfriend, Mason Shaw, is determined to drive a wedge between them with his overprotective ways.

As usual, everything goes to hell in a hand basket as one of their own is kidnapped. Lily must travel across the “pond”, back to her family’s homeland, to retrieve the lost member. Along the way, she must ally herself with an enemy from her past and work with a ragtag band of hunters that don’t believe that she has it in her to do what needs to be done.
Sometimes, there really is no turning back...

Can the Moon Coven save their lost member? Or will they wind up sacrificing themselves in the end?

Beary Tales Reveal

This is one of the BIG moments you guys have been waiting for!!!! Willow Cross, Jennifer Malone Wright, Regina Wamba and I are finally going to reveal what we have been keeping hidden from you guys!!Drumroll, please....We proudly present... Beary Tales~ And, here's the full wrap for print done by the absolutely amazingly talented, Regina Wamba of Mae I design and Photography!!
Once upon a time, something wicked was woven. A magic formed by darkness and pain, a magic that only the victim of a broken heart could have created.

The death of her one true love has forced Goldalynn to use dark magic. Determined to bring him back she discovers she must acquire the pelts of three bears under the light of the blue moon to fulfill the spell.

The blue moon has risen and the three bears are caged, awaiting the fate of Goldalynn’s deadly spell. But, their cries for help were heard across the magical realms and their Fairy God Uncle has been called. A collision of spells, magic dark and light create a curse, a curse that turns the bears fur into soft skin and their paws into delicate arms and legs… a curse that turns them human.

The girls are now the charges of their Fairy God Uncle until they no longer need him. Not knowing what to call them, he gives them the most important part of their human identities … their names, Katya, Nita, and Leilanni. With his help, these three bears in human bodies journey through the lands of modern fairy tales trying to find a way to break the curse.

This dark fairy tale is not the book your mother read you when tucking you in at night, you won’t find a fairy tale princess who needs a rescue, but there might be a prince or three in this world. Find out as Beary Tales takes you on a magically twisted adventure.
Release Date June 1, 2013!!!Make sure you add Beary Tales to your TBR list on Goodreads by clicking HERE!

Wolf Spell Blog Tour Stop March 23, 2013

It's my pleasure to present the Wolf Spell Blog Tour by M.R. Polish.

Author Bio:If I am not producing magic potions, traveling to far off lands and falling in love with mythical creatures, then I am awake - tripping over toys, chasing my kids and conjuring ways to unknowingly booby trap our house for my husband. (Yes its unknowingly, I swear I never placed the tiny plastic army man in his path for him to find in the dark of midnight!) I love my husband and my four wonderful children (all of whom help with the booby traps!) We are Nevadians and are happy, although I envy and miss the beautiful mountains of Idaho. I love writing Young Adult and Adult Fantasy and Paranormal with Romance, although you never know what could show up in my book

Book Blurb:With a death starts a new beginning...
Eighteen-year-old Esmerelda thinks she’s just a normal girl, but all of that changes the day of her mom’s funeral, when a warlock, intent on using her special powers, kidnaps her. Powers she didn’t know existed. Thrown in the middle of a magical battle, Es struggles to learn her magic while fleeing both vampires and warlocks, at the same time, hunting for the witches that can help defeat her adversary. The only problem is that they are dead.
Thankfully, she has the help of Jarak—her Guardian—who quickly captures her heart, but she wonders if she can win his? Just when she thinks Jarak is the one for her, Ian appears with daggers drawn to save Es from a vampire attack. Ian is cocky and rude, but there is something magnetic about him—something that attracts her to him. With her heart torn between two men, she faces the foes that are out for her blood. Can Es do the unthinkable and awaken them from their graves before time runs out?

**Let’s talk with Esmerelda**

Do you have a nickname?: Haha, oh yes. It’s Es. At first I had a hard time with it, but then again I didn’t understand who I was.
What is the meaning of your name?:Well, I know that in Spanish it means ‘Emerald’ which is the color of my eyes.
And how old are you right now?:  I’m eighteen, but my birthday is the twenty-third of this month, so I’m pretty excited.
Do you know your blood type?:Seriously? *she laughs* What type of question is that anyway? Well if you must know I am a mix of magic type O and Positive Guardian. *snickers*
Do you have a title? I mean, what are you really?: I’m a Witch and Guardian. The first of my kind to be a half breed. Gosh I hate that word, we should really come up with a different one to use.
You said your birthday was this month?: Yup. I was born March 23, 1994
Cool, well Happy early Birthday… where were you born?:  Spain
Wow, that’s cool. What about now, where do you live?: Well for right now I am staying in Idaho. It’s not my favorite and I think about going back to Nevada a lot, or anywhere Ian would like to run off to would be cool too.
Idaho huh… that’s a pretty state. What kind of house are you in?: Right now we are all staying in Jarak’s Log Cabin.
Can you describe your room?:  *she laughs* Well, I am sharing with Ailaina. We are in the loft that overlooks the main room and the floor to ceiling windows. It has a great view of the saw tooth mountains where it is hidden.
Wow, that sounds awesome. I love the mountains. Do you have any favorite pastimes?: Music. I love to listen to music and dance around. Right now I am really diggin the song Blown Away by Carrie Underwood.
What are your special powers or talents?:I have the power to call Luna, my spirit wolf whenever I need her. I am also a full witch in training, but I am still unsure what I can or can’t do, but so far I’ve been able to accomplish everything I’ve put my mind to.
What about family, do you have any?:I have my birth mom and dad, Adonia and Torres.
So you mentioned Nevada, where are you from? Where is your Hometown?:  Elko, Nevada
Do you have a first memory you’d like to share?: Haha, oh yes, I remember sneaking into the living room to watch a late night movie with my dad and eating junk food. I think I was like seven or younger.
So how was your childhood?: Wow, well, I was kept out on a lot, too many family secrets, and I wasn’t excepted by too many at school. So I was a loner for the most part.
What do you think is the most important childhood event that has effected you?: Well I would have to say that the fact that I wasn’t who I thought I was changed everything.  Everything about me has been a lie and then magic started to come out in small intervals and kinda freaked me out.
What about a past failure? You have anything you try not to let people know?: I tried out for drama once, but I fell off the stage in the middle of my tryout performance. Jeesh, you want to know everything!
Haha, I’m not done yet! Who is your favorite parent?: It was my dad growing up, but now I’m pretty neutral between both my parents.
Here are some easy ones… tell us a little bit about yourself physically…

Height:
5 feet 7 inches
Weight: What? You seriously want to know this stuff? *sighs* 130 pounds
Skin:  Ivory white with some freckles
Hair: Red – long
Eyes: green (emerald, like my favorite color and name)
Expressions: Ugh! I love to raise my eyebrows or bite my lip, but M.R. keeps telling me to stop. I’m stubborn so I haven’t really worked at making that happen yet.
Left/Right handed?: Right
How do you dress?:  I loves my jeans and boots. I doesn’t like to dress up and am pretty casual with all my clothes.
What about weapons?:  My magic does great, but I’m also learning how to handle a stake right now.
Are you generally balanced or clumsy?:Holy cow, are we done yet? Would you like to know when I used the restroom? Jeesh. I am pretty balanced and good on my feet. Not really a clumsy person at all.
How would you describe your voice?: I’ve been told that my voice has a more silvery soft tone to it, it’s not sing-song because it’s a little deeper than that, but I guess it’s pleasant to listen to.
Do you have any secret desires?:Well, if you must know, I just want be with Ian and have a normal life.
What are you the most proud of?: Learning how to harness my magic.
What is your patience level?: Right now with these questions or normally? *deep breath* Normally I have about a 6 out of a 10.
What do you think is your biggest vulnerability?: Just learning about my powers when a well trained warlock is after me. Yeah, I think that counts as a vulnerability.
What’s your greatest fear?: Wow, I am so many deep down, but I think my biggest fear islosing everyone I love. I’ve lost so many people I love over the last year, not all of them have died, but they are still gone.
What about other fears or phobias?:  Spiders for sure. I hate them!
What is your biggest regret?: Not going to prom.
Okay, here is a big one, then I’m almost done torturing you. What is your darkest, deepest secret?: *gasp* I can’t believe you want me to tell you! *deep breath* Okay, well, I once helped my best friend break into the principal’s office to “redecorate” his office. The flowers we used to brighten his newly painted pink desk were a little much because he was allergic to them and  once he was in the office he couldn’t breathe and had to be taken to hospital.  There I said it, I told someone. Ugh, that was horrible. Let’s move on please.
Um, yeah, I agree…. What about your favorite color?:  I told you already. Green.
What type of music is your favorite?: All types. I don’t have a favorite.
Do you have a favorite movie?: Yes. I will publically announce that I am a huge Twilight fan. *she giggles*
How about a favorite actor?: I really like Hillary SwankFavorite animal?:   That’s easy, wolf
Boyfirend?: Ian… Jeesh, didn’t you read the book?
Best Friend?:  Ailaina
Rivals?: Ohhhh…. Julie. I really can’t stand that woman!
Okay, last question. What is your favorite book?: Do we really have to ask? Who made these questions anyway?
