CRÍTICAAcabei de ler este livro a 20 de maio de 2012; atribuo-lhe 5 estrelas! Adoro romances, nomeadamente os sobrenaturais e este foi fantástico. Achei as personagens credíveis no geral e a estória está bem estruturada. Não são apresentados saltos temporais exagerados e o rumo da narrativa é linear, fácil de acompanhar. Sei que as críticas deviam ser algo um pouco mais desenvolvido, porém nada tenho a apontar. Apenas quero salientar a tremenda capacidade da autora para transmitir os sentimentos das personagens. Sabe cativar o leitor e é fácil sentirmo-nos envolvidos pela atmosfera por ela criada. 
REVIEWI finished reading this book on May 20, 2012; I rate it 5 stars! I love romantic novels, specially the supernatural ones, and this one was fantastic.I found the characters believable in general and the story is well structured. Time jumps are not exaggerated, and the narrative is linear and easy to follow. I know that a review should be something a little more developed, but I have nothing to point out. I just want to underline the tremendous capacity of the author to convey the feelings of the characters. She knows how to captivate the reader and it is easy to feel involved by the atmosphere she created.

OLÁ! QUANDO NASCEU O TEU BLOGUE?Oficialmente o blogue nasceu em Abril de 2010, contudo antes do “Illusionary Pleasure” mantinha o blogue “Awaken Spirits”, que era um pouco random, digamos assim. Eu sempre tive más experiências em relação a blogues, nunca soube muito bem para que serviam, até que comecei a ler uns relacionados com livros. O nome foi engraçado de arranjar. Não queria utilizar na mesma o nome do Awaken Spirits e qualquer título relacionado com livros estava reservado. Como eu própria sou às vezes um bocado “random”, achei giro criar um título internacional (tipo Zeze Camarinha), mas que fosse poético. Por isso não me perguntem o que significa “Illusionary pleasure”, porque a resposta vai ser demasiado filosófica e tudo teve origem numa epifania derivada de um brainstorming.
QUE RAZÕES TE LEVARAM A CRIÁ-LO?Como já mencionei, eu acompanhava alguns blogues e havia um problema (na verdade havia dois, mas vamos pensar positivo). Os blogues só faziam críticas de livros editados em Portugal. Ora eu conhecia alguns livros excelentes em inglês que raramente iam aparecer nos blogues, pois não eram nem novidades, e outros nem sequer traduzidos (isto acontecia mais com os livros alemães). Assim comecei a escrever as críticas e, ao início, nem era muito dura... ok era, mas ninguém queria saber! A verdade é que, aos poucos, tive de abandonar essa ideia de criar só críticas a livros desconhecidos. As pessoas querem ler aquilo que é publicado neste momento e se o livro ainda foi traduzido, não interessa porque não pode ser lido.Outro problema apareceu: quanto mais livros abarcava, mais dura ficava com as críticas. Sejamos honestas, alguém que estuda literatura ou que lê durante anos coisas pesadas não vai ter a mesma bagagem de uma pessoa que só lê um espectro de livros. Enquanto a maior parte das pessoas lê para ver se a história é agradável, para entreter, quando leio um livro estou atenta a mil e uma coisas, tanto a possíveis incongruências, como factores positivos que me levam a crer que o livro seja bom. Não posso dizer que desisti de ler um livro porque não me agradou, ou não é o meu estilo. Acho que já li de tudo um pouco para saber que o problema não é dos estilos, é dos escritores.
O QUE PODEM OS VISITANTES ENCONTRAR NO BLOGUE?Críticas objectivas. Let’s cut the crap! Não há espaço para flores, nem paninhos quentes. Lembro-me que quando foi 1 de Abril fiz uma crítica a um livro da Madeline Hunter pavoroso, mas como era dia das mentiras, escrevi uma crítica a dizer bem do livro! Muitas pessoas acreditaram e disseram que se eu gostei, então o livro devia de ser realmente bom! Foi pena quando descobriram que afinal era “all lies!”
QUE BALANÇO FAZES DESDE QUE CRIASTE ESTE ESPAÇO ATÉ HOJE?Nem bom, nem mau! O blogue é feito de altos e baixos, fui insultada, fui encorajada a continuar. Este ano é o 2º ano que mantenho o blogue aberto e muitas vezes acordo a pensar... “vou dar baixa disto tudo para não me chatear mais!”.... mas não dá! O pessoal iria sentir falta dos “drinking games” e dos meus ataques de fúria contra os livros com as personagens masculinas bem abonadas.
QUAIS AS MAIORES DIFICULDADES QUE ENCONTRASTE ENQUANTO BLOGGER?Manter as críticas negativas. Era tudo tão mais fácil se eu dissesse mal de um ou outro livro, apoiar o que é português, mas não dá. Sinto-me mal quando digo bem de um livro e depois penso “se calhar... uma estrelinha a menos não fazia mal”. Acho piada quando me chamam de frustrada ou outras coisas menos próprias, mas de facto o difícil é manter a cabeça erguida mesmo depois de dizer que Anne Bishop não sabe escrever, que o Martin escreve palha “ad nauseum”, a Danielle Steel devia de beber chá com cianeto e os portugueses só fazem “tell” em vez de “show”.Podem-me acusar de falta de patriotismo, contudo acho fácil colocar paninhos quentes e divulgar tudo, o difícil é mesmo pegar num livro com seriedade e com um tom humorístico apontar as falhas.
QUAL A MAIOR ALEGRIA QUE O TEU BLOGUE TE DEU?Quando as pessoas me vêm perguntar se posso ser beta-reader dos livros deles (é mais por medo de aparecer a crítica no blogue). Aprecio bastante o processo de revisão de um livro; quantas vezes nos escapa algo e ver vários livros antes de serem publicados e muitas vezes responder à pergunta: porque é que não foi publicado, dá-me um enorme gozo (especialmente pelo facto de gostar de ajudar outras pessoas).A verdade é que o blogue abriu-me muitas portas, tanto a nível de revistas, como ao movimentar-me dentro do mercado português.

INTERVIEW WITH ANA HI! WHEN WAS YOUR BLOG BORN?Officially, my blog appeared in April, 2010; however, before “Illusionary Pleasure” I kept another one called “Awaken Spirits”, though I felt it was kind of random (let’s keep it this way).I always had bad experiences relating to blogs. I never knew exactly what they were good for, until I started reading other blogs related to books. The name was a funny process. I did not want to use the same name as “Awaken Spirits” and other titles related to books were taken.As I am most of the times random myself as well, I found it peculiar to create an international name (like Zeze Camarinha), but something that would be poetic. Hence, do not ask me the meaning of “Illusionary Pleasure”, because the answer will be far too philosophical and it all had its origin due to an epiphany derived from a brainstorming.
WHAT REASONS LED YOU TO CREATE IT?Like I mentioned before, I read some blogs, but I overcame with a problem (actually there were two, but let’s keep the positive thinking). Most blogs only reviewed books published in Portugal. I read excellent books in English that rarely would appear in those blogs, because some weren’t news and others weren’t translated (this was more frequent with German books). This way I started writing reviews. At the beginning I was not that harsh (ok I was, but no one gave a crap about it). The truth was that, slowly, I had to leave this idea of reviewing books that were unknown. People want to read what is published right now and if the book is not even translated, it is unimportant, because it cannot be read.Another problem rose: the more books I read, the tougher I got with critics.Let’s be honest, someone who studied literature or have read for years some heavy stuff, will not have the same standards of someone who only reads a small style of books. While most bloggers read a story and check if its pleasant or if it entertains, while I read a book I pay attention to other things, like possible plot holes, or positive aspects that led me to believe that the books is good.I find myself unable to say that I gave up reading a book, because it was not my style. I think I have read so many styles to know that the issues are not with styles, rather the writers.
WHAT CAN VISITORS FIND IN YOUR BLOG?Straightforward reviews. Let’s cut the crap. There is no room for flowers, or half measures. I recall that, during the 1st of April, I wrote a review of a Madeline Hunter’s book which was horrible; though as it was April Fools, I wrote a review complementing the book and how good it was. Plenty of people actually believed in it and stated that if I enjoyed the book, then it should be really good! It was pity when they found out it was all lies!
HOW DID THINGS GO SINCE YOU CREATED THIS SPACE UNTIL TODAY?Things go nor good, nor bad. The blog had its ups and downs, I was both insulted and other times encouraged to keep going on. It is the second year that I keep my space open, and there are many times when I wake up thinking “I’m giving up this crap and no one will bother me anymore!”... but to no avail! People would certainly miss my “drinking games” and my fury attacks against books whose male characters have huge dicks!
WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST DIFFICULTIES YOU FOUND AS A BLOGGER?The hardest part of the job is to keep the negative reviews. It would all be so easy if I would just give a harsh critic of one book every once in a while and then support what is Portuguese, but it is no good. I feel terrible when I find positive things in a book and then I read another and think “maybe the last one was not THAT good.”I find it funny when people call me frustrated or other less proper stuff, but in fact I believe it is harder to keep your head up, even after saying that Anne Bishop sucks in writing; George R. R. Martin writes unnecessary stuff “ad naseum”; Danielle Steel should drink cyanide tee; and Portuguese author writes only “tell” instead of “show”.People may accuse me of lacking patriotism, nevertheless I find it easy to be with half measures and publicity everything, but the hardest part is to grab a book and take it seriously with a hint of humour point what was not so good.
WHAT’S THE GREATEST JOY YOUR BLOG HAS GIVEN YOU?The greatest joy, I believe, it’s when people come to me asking if I can be their “beta-reader” (although this happens due to their fear of being reviewed after being published). I enjoy the process of revising a book! To grab a book and read it to see what the author missed and answer to the question: why wasn’t this book accepted by the publisher? It gives me great pleasure (also because I love to help other people and I can never say no!)The truth is the blog was a door with magazines and making my way into the Portuguese literary market.

Esta semana recebi na minha caixa de correio uma oferta das Publicações Europa-América: "Entrevista com o Vampiro", de Anne Rice. Esta é uma obra que tenho alguma curiosidade em ler, pois já ouvi falar bastante dela. Quem já leu e o que acharam???

CRÍTICAAcabei de ler este livro a 7 de junho de 2012. Dou-lhe 4 estrelas.Esta é uma narrativa que recupera a estória de Medusa, considerada por muitos um monstro da mitologia grega. Aqui são explorados os motivos que terão levado Medusa a tornar-se numa mulher com serpentes em vez de cabelo, capaz de transformar um homem em pedra ao mínimo olhar.Gostei, no geral, sendo tudo justificado com uma estória de amor que correu mal sob a mesquinhez dos deuses do Olimpo que, orgulhosos, não permitiram o seu triunfo. O que mais me agradou foi o desfecho inesperado: quando tudo apontava num sentido irremediável, a solução surge perante as almas dos amantes.Quanto ao que menos me agradou, tenho a apontar as divagações que se arrastavam, nomeadamente as analepses. O leitor consegue captar facilmente o sentimento, não é preciso estar a recuperar fragmentos de episódios de dois dias de casamento.Por último, considero inteligente da parte da autora terminar a narrativa com o anúncio da estória que se seguirá. Sabemos que vai ser diferente, mas ainda estará relacionada com o Olimpo. Cá ficarei à espera dela.
REVIEWI finished reading this book on June 7, 2012. I rate it 4 stars.This is a narrative that recovers the story of Medusa, considered by many a monster in Greek mythology. Here are explored the reasons that have brought Medusa to become a woman with snakes instead of hair, who can transform a man into stone with just a look.I liked it overall. Everything is justified with a love story that went wrong due to the pettiness of the gods of Olympus; proud, they did not allow such triumph. What pleased me most was the unexpected denouement: when everything pointed in a inevitable way, the solution comes before the souls of lovers.As for what I liked least, I have to point out the ramblings that kept dragging, including the flash-backwards. The reader can easily capture the feeling, it’s not necessary to keep picking up fragments of episodes of two days of marriage.Finally, I consider intelligent from the author's to end the narrative with the announcement of the story that will follow. We know it will be different, but is still related to the Olympus. I'll be here waiting for it.

Por que decidiu tornar-se escritora?Porque odiava o meu trabalho de Relações Públicas e, finalmente, queria fazer algo que eu adorava.
Qual foi o primeiro livro que escreveu e do que tratava?“Temptation’s Regret”. Era uma porcaria. Foi uma tentativa de suspense romântico com um enredo mal construído. A minha heroína, Abby, ia ser obrigada a casar com alguém para salvar o negócio de família. Lol. Precisava de trabalho.
Falemos sobre a série “Protector”. O que a levou a escrevê-la? E como surgiu a ideia?Quando comecei a pensar em fazer um romance com um super-herói, foi quando a série “Heroes” estava a dar. Fiquei a pensar em todos os rumos que essa história podia ou não ter seguido. Então, quando comecei a ver “Alphas”, fiquei a matutar em maneiras de fazer evoluir o léxico do super-herói. Eu queria algo que fosse crível para o mundo moderno, como se isso pudesse acontecer consigo, o seu melhor amigo ou vizinhos. Mas eu também queria que fosse obscuro e explorar o lado mais sombrio do que acontece quando se tem todo esse poder e ninguém para se relacionar.
O que podem os leitores esperar de "Forsaken Protector"?Muita aventura, cenas de ação, e uma grande história de amor, assim como uma nova visita de velhos amigos.
Que feedback tem recebido até agora?Até agora o feedback tem sido bom. Tive alguns leitores a escreverem e a dizerem-me que adoram a forma como estou a conduzir a história e a continuar a série.

Why did you decide to become a writer?
Because I hated my PR job and finally wanted to do something I loved.
Which was the 1st book you wrote and what was it about?Temptation’s Regret. It was a mess. It was an attempt at Romantic Suspense with a poorly thrown together plot. My heroine Abby was being forced to marry someone to save her family business. Lol. It needed work.
Let's talk about the Protector Series. What led you to write it? How did you come up with the idea?When I started thinking about doing a superhero romance, it was back when Heroes was on. I kept thinking about all the places they could have gone with that story and didn’t. Then when I started watching Alphas, I kept thinking about ways to evolve the superhero lexicon. I wanted something that was believable for the modern world. Like this could happen to you or your neighbors best friend. But I also wanted it to be dark and explore the darker side of what happens when you have all this power and no one to relate to.
What can readers expect from "Forsaken Protector"?A lot of adventure, action scenes, and a great love story. As well as a revisit with old friends.
What feedback did you get so far?So far feedback has been good. I’ve had some readers write and tell me they love where I’m taking the story and how I’m continuing the series.

CRÍTICA
Concluí a leitura de “Forsaken Protector” a 26 de junho de 2012. Tal como ao primeiro volume da série, dou-lhe quatro estrelas.
Não tenho muito a acrescentar entre este livro e o primeiro da saga. Embora este seja a continuação do primeiro, ambos muito semelhantes no que diz respeito à linha condutora da história: há alguém com poderes, apaixonam-se inexplicavelmente, passam momentos tórridos de paixão…
O que quero destacar é então este último ponto. A autora descreve cenas muito gráficas sobre o relacionamento entre as personagens. Creio que as cenas estão muito bem conseguidas, pois Nana Malone não se coíbe de escrever o que acha que aconteceria se aquele fosse um acontecimento real, recorrendo a imagens explícitas e ao tipo de linguagem que crê que seria utilizado. Acho que eu não seria capaz de escrever cenas como essas; sou demasiado púdica, lol!

REVIEW
I finished reading "Forsaken Protector" on June 26, 2012. Like the first volume of the series, I rate it four stars.
I don’t have much to add to this book after the first of the saga. Although this is the continuation of the first one, both are both very similar in what comes to the conductive line of the story: there is someone with powers, inexplicably they fall in love, they spend torrid moments of passion...
What I want to stress this last point is then. The author describes very graphic scenes about the relationship between the characters. I think the scenes are very well achieved, as Nana Malone does not shy away from writing what she thinks would happen if this were an actual event, using graphic images and the kind of language that she believes would be used. I think I wouldn’t be able to write scenes like these; I'm too prudish, lol!

Acabei de ler este livro no dia 15 de junho de 2012 e dou-lhe uma classificação de quatro estrelas.
Esta é uma estória pequena que junta ficção científica e erotismo bastante gráfico. Não é uma combinação que costume ler com frequência, no entanto gosto de variar de vez em quando. Tenho a dizer que gostei.
O que mais me agradou foi a fluidez da história. As cenas sucedem-se com naturalidade, embora às vezes tenha ficado um pouco confusa com a transição, mas nada de significativo e que não seja fácil de recuperar. As cenas de ação e as de erotismo também estão bem equilibradas.
Em relação ao que menos gostei, preferia que o início fosse um pouco mais pausado; talvez tivesse desdobrado o primeiro capítulo em dois em vez de começar a dar porrada logo a arrancar.

I just read this book on June 15, 2012, and give it a rating of four stars.
This is a short story that combines science fiction and quite graphic erotica. It is a combination I seldom read, but I like to vary from time to time. I have to say that I liked it.
What pleased me most was the fluidity of the story. The scenes follow one another naturally, although sometimes the transition has been a bit confusing, but nothing significant and or hard to recover. The action scenes and the graphic ones are also well balanced.
Regarding the least liked, I wished the beginning was a little more paused; I would, perhaps, unfold the first chapter in two instead of starting kicking butts right away.
