OPINIÃOAcabei de ler este livro a 31 de julho; dou-lhe quatro estrelas.Há algum tempo que estava à espera que alguma editora portuguesa se lembrasse de publicar o segundo volume do livro “A Floresta de Mãos e Dentes”, mas o livro não deve ter vendido muito e não arriscaram com o segundo (estou a tentar adivinhar). Adquiri o “Dead and Tossed Waves” em versão digital e lá pôde dar continuidade à saga.Gostei mais desta história do que da primeira. É mais afetiva, tem mais romance, apela mais às emoções. Porém, também há o reverso da medalha: demasiada palha pelo meio. Claro que sei que, às vezes, é preciso “encher” as coisas, mas quando se recorre frequentemente a isso, torna-se cansativo.Gostei particularmente da personagem Gabry, de como ela mudou e como ela passa a noção de que as coisas mudam, mas o passado não, pelo que nos devemos focar no presente e viver cada dia ao máximo. É um mote do género “carpe diem”, uma lição que gostei de ver traduzida na Gabry. O mais chato foi a indecisão romântica da Gabry e o quanto lhe custou evoluir daquilo que era seguro a aventurar-se no que não é, correndo riscos. A transição era complicada, mas aqui surgiu a palha que se tornou cansativa.Como gostei mais deste volume do que do anterior, estou já a ler o 3º e último, mas essa opinião fica para depois.

REVIEWI finished reading this book on July 31, and I rate it four stars.For some time I was waiting for some Portuguese publisherto publish the second volume of "The Forest of Hands and Teeth", but the book should not have sold a lot and therefore they didn’t bet on the second (I'm guessing here). I purchased "Dead and Tossed Waves" eBookand then I continued reading the saga.I enjoyed this story morethan the first one. It's more affective, has more romance, appeals more to the emotions. However, there is also a downside: too much bla-bla-bla in the middle. Of course I know thatsometimes you need to "fill" things, but when it happens frequently, it becomes tiring.I particularly liked the characterGabry, how she has changed and how she passes the notion that things change, butnot the past, so we have to focus on the present andlive each day to the fullest. It's a motto like "carpe diem", a lesson that I liked to see translated into Gabry.The most annoying part was the romantic indecision ofGabry and how hard it was for her toevolve from what was safe to venture into what is not and take a risk. The transition was complicated, but the author also went for too much unnecessary data that became tiresome.As I enjoyed this book more than the previousvolume, I am now reading the 3rd and last, but this review is too come later.

OPINIÃOAcabei de ler este livro a 31 de julho; dou-lhe quatro estrelas.Gostei da história no geral. A autora foi buscar o cliché das cheerleaders enquanto aquelas personagens mais populares da escola que todos querem ser e imitar, e juntou-lhes um segredo mágico que as torna ainda mais irresistíveis.Acho que as personagens estão bem construídas e são credíveis, no entanto o Jackson merecia ser mais explorado, o que creio que deve suceder no próximo volume, que tenciono ler, é óbvio.Não tenho críticas por demais a fazer senão dizer que, embora se insira no género literário de que mais gosto, gostaria que tivesse mais inovação. Ou então tenho de variar as minhas leituras para não enjoar, lol! Mesmo assim, tenho tentado variar nos últimos tempos, não é só YA paranormal.

REVIEWI finished reading this book on July 31, and I rate it four stars.I enjoyed the story in general. The author went for the cliché of the cheerleaders as the most popular charactersin school that everyone wants to beand emulate, and added them a magical secret thatmakes them even more irresistible.I think the characters are well constructed and credible, however Jacksondeserved to be further explored, which I think will happen in the next volume, which I intend to read, obviously.I have no criticism to make other than to say that, although it insertsthe literary genre I like best, I wish it had more innovation. Or I have to vary my readings not to get sick of it, lol! Even so, I have tried to vary in recent times, I’m not reading just paranormal YA.

Curiosidades Perdidos: Comércio local | Lost Ones Curiosities: Local trade

Numa época de crise, é importante apostar no comércio local. Por essa razão, aproveitei para trazer para a história:- o camarão do rio (vendido num saveiro ao pé da casa de Marina);- a loja do Totó (onde a Marina compra o seu guarda-chuva e o saco de desporto);- a gelataria do Sr. Henrique (onde Marina e Joshua comem uns ótimos croissants);- a pastelaria Crespo (onde Marina e a mãe vão comer uns crepes);- a loja da Almira (onde Marina adquire a bracelete de pedras protetoras);- o Kira’s (café onde a Ana vai almoçar com Dennis);- o Kupido’s Bar (onde as personagens se divertem à noite);- a loja dos telemóveis (ficava junto ao mercado municipal, mas já fechou…)- a dupla Gonçalo e Vidigal (conhecida pela animação de festas);- e a Feira do Chocolate de Grândola (não fica em Alcácer, mas as pessoas de Alcácer também visitam as terras vizinhas e frequentam os seus eventos).

Opinião| Review: “Monica”, LA Tripp

SINOPSESinta a luta de uma alma subitamente perdida, o tumulto interior de estar dividida entre dois amantes, e a jornada pessoal de uma bomba sexual através dos seus próprios olhos. Esta é a primeira sequela de ‘Woe to the Rich’.
OPINIÃOLi este livro a 25 de julho; dou-lhe três estrelas.Gostei da história em termos gerais, principalmente da personagem Brad, que acaba por ser o homem de sonho de cada mulher, embora pareça ter caído de paraquedas na história. Em relação à construção da narrativa, creio que a cena do rapto podia ter sido melhor explorada, pois simplesmente a Monica é raptada e, de repente e por milagre, em dois ou três parágrafos está salva. Outra coisa que podia ter sido melhor explorada foi a perseguição pelas ditas famílias de sangue real; num momento, Monica e os amigos não sabem se estão em segurança e há uma perseguição qualquer, depois, de repente, puff, os malfeitores desaparecem. Eu sei que é um conto, mas ficam muitas coisas por explicar.Por fim, também gostaria que o autor tivesse desenvolvido mais um pouco o final, pois a Monica parece resignada a viver com Brad, mas será que conseguiu sê-lo e ultrapassar a luxuria pelo ex-marido? Gostava de ter sabido mais.

REVIEWI read this book on July 25th and I rate it three stars.I enjoyed the story in general, especially the character Brad, who turns out to be the man of every woman's dream, though he seems to have fallen into the story by parachute.Regarding the construction of the narrative, I believe that the kidnap scene could have been better explored. Monica is just kidnapped, and suddenly and miraculously, in two or three paragraphs she’s save. Another thing that could have been better explored was the persecution by the aforementioned families of royal blood. First, Monica and her friends don’t know if they are safe and there is a persecution, and then suddenly, poof, the criminals disappear. I know it's a short story, but many things are unexplained.Finally, I also wished that the author had developed a little more the end, since Monica seems resigned to live with Brad, but did she manage and overcome the lust she feels for her ex-husband? I wish I it had been told some more.

Interview with Toney LA Tripp, author of “Monica”

HI, TONEY. TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF.I'm a writer, father, husband, health enthusiast, and in general I can't seem to stop bouncing off the walls.
WHEN DID YOU START WRITING? When did I start? Wow. I actually, technically started about a decade ago when my wife and I first married and moved away from our family. I wrote a story back then that has never been published. Then about a half-decade ago I got a bit more serious and started writing what's published now.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE GENRE AND WHY? My favorite genre? I can't honestly say I have a favorite genre to write. I've written some humor, some drama, some romance, some hard-core sex, and am dabbling in sci-fi. They each have their exciting moments.
WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS AND HOW DO THEY INFLUENCE YOUR WRITING? My favorite author, without a doubt, is Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb. It was reading her Naked In Death that inspired me to start writing more seriously. That was literally the first book I'd read in my life that I could not put down. I had never picked up another author that captured me that well. To this day, it's mainly when I read another book by her that it helps to kindle the fire inside to give me more creative ideas for my own stories.
DO YOU PREFER TO WRITE SHORT OR LONG STORIES? I prefer to write stories that are longer than just one page. Though, I admit, I have a really tough time stretching a story out to the length that Stephen King or others like that do, but I also have a really tough time trying to tell a complete, full story with depth in just one page. So, I don't like messing with short stories. Even the "short stories" I have out, the All Jacked Up series, are really mini episodes in Jack's overall story. They are each one stage of his life and journey. I like to get into each character and it's tough to really dive into their motivations, feelings, dreams, desires, and resolutions in just a short space...and have the reader actually know and feel what's going on.
ABOUT 'MONICA', WHAT'S THE STORY ABOUT?In it's essence, Monica focuses on one lady that is a part of the cast of Money Talks (continuing story). It's a story that allows the reader to get into the peak of the mind and heart of this one lady and will likely give most readers a completely different perspective on why she is who she is. She's multi-faceted. Most readers will have the impression, at first, that she's manipulative, tough as nails, a seductress, maybe even evil. However, after peeking closer in Monica, most readers will likely be left with another view of this complex woman.
WHAT FEEDBACK ARE YOU GETTING ON THIS STORY?The feedback that I get, in general, still surprises me to this day. I guess as my own toughest critic, I cringe at knowing either what I left out (and wondering if I left out too much to get the point across) or in general hoping I painted the picture that I wanted to paint. My feedback is usually that readers relate to and love the story and characters...yet as their creator, I know I can do better. Of course, all of us, as artists, have those negative feedbacks, and I like even those because it helps me to see my weaknesses in, hopefully, a new light, and be able to improve on that as well.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE IN WHAT COMES TO WRITING?My future writing plans include sitting by a bay window, overlooking the ocean, watching nature change from minute to minute, as I sit with my headphones in, music cranked up, and letting the characters and their stories continue to flow out of me. One can dream, right? I plan to keep All Jacked Up going for quite a long time. He has a long story and journey to talk about. I have one more book to finish the series that Monica is from. Then I'm dabbling in other areas, such as the sci-fi. I also have a couple of other stories that I'm playing with. A bit sci-fi, a bit almost religious, and I can probably never leave the hot sex stories completely alone.
