Aras kissed her, a light brush of his lips against hers. “I am not yet convinced this is not a dream. The memory of you beneath me is forever etched into my mind, and knowing I could never conjure such an amazing experience on my own is all I can rely on.”
The pleasant ache between her legs made her smile. “Everything between us is real, I assure you.” Her hand rose to where he had bitten her neck. Though she couldn’t see the area, she assumed a visible bruise had formed. “I can still feel it.”
A frown darkened his face. “I apologize. I should not have marked you in such a way.”
“It’s okay.” Jasmine giggled, something she hadn’t done in years. “I don’t mind at all.”
“No.” His fingertips grazed the tender skin, coming to rest on her shoulder. “I must remember to exercise more self-control.”
She trembled at his delicate touch and the excitement it aroused. “Aras, I’m a trained soldier. While I appreciate you being gentle with me at first, you don’t have to treat me like some fragile flower. You’re not going to break me.”
His thumb traced the contour of her jaw. “Can you blame me for worrying?”
“I promise I’ll let you know what I can and can’t handle.” She stepped closer to him and snaked an arm around his waist. “And I liked it when you lost control of yourself to me,” she whispered, caressing his bare hip.
He shifted, his hand tensing. “Each time I think you could not possibly become more enticing, I am proven wrong. How any man could resist you is beyond comprehension.”
Feeling his hold on her tighten emboldened her. Over time, she’d seen the many facets of Aras’s character, from the confident, domineering ruler, to the generous, more sensitive man he’d revealed to her when they were alone. Now she yearned for more of the raw power he’d displayed the previous night.
She trailed her fingers down the front of his thigh. His cock twitched, and she used the same airy touch to tease at it. “Why resist?”
His hand fisted in her hair, jerking her head back. Jasmine caught a glimpse of the lust in his eyes before he captured her mouth in a crushing kiss. Her tongue met his with a playful jab. Before she could react further, he slammed her against the wall, pinning her with his full weight. A jolt of pain shot through her back. She paid no attention to it as she ran her palms up his sides, seeking out more contact.
The hand tangled in her messy waves held her in place while the other rose to give her breast a harsh squeeze through the blanket draped around her. She squirmed, and his fingers pressed into her flesh harder. Her spine bowed, thrusting her chest up into his waiting grasp. The coarse material slid over her skin, adding to the sensations setting her body abuzz.
With a low growl, Aras tore the rectangle of fabric off her, leaving her exposed in the crisp morning air. She gasped, but the surprised utterance was cut short when he reclaimed her mouth. Deft fingers returned to her breasts, coaxing her nipples into stiff peaks. Though she writhed beneath his manipulations, apprehension tugged at her mind.
She broke the kiss, turning her head away. “Wait,” she said between pants. “I don’t want to risk anyone seeing us out here.”
He shoved his hand between her thighs, cupping her mound. “Your arousal betrays you.” The assertive tones of his voice made her shiver. “I will not wait.”
Thea Landen lives in New York with her husband and two children. A former educator, she strives to encourage creativity and passion in all those around her, and uses writing to help inspire. Though she reads and writes in nearly all genres, she has a special fondness for science fiction, fantasy, and adventure and anything that pushes the imagination beyond its usual limits. When she’s not writing, or thinking about writing, her hands and mind are occupied by either yarn crafts or role-playing games.

#8Sunday: He’s a Galactic Defender first, not a Father ~ Excerpt from BRYCE #books #sfr #romance
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
BRYCE has been out for a couple weeks now. Thank you to all the Warriors for your support! I’m going to skip ahead a bit with this excerpt. Last week you found out that Bryce was Katrina’s father. Well, some other Defenders arrived before he had the chance to react. Now, he gets a moment with them. I’ll give you an explanation for Bryce’s words in this excerpt next week.
“Katrina, I am happy to find out you are my daughter, and I want us to get to know each other. But, do not mention our relationship to anyone or in front of anyone.”
Lalia gasped. “Bryce, how can you say that? I know I should have told you, but…”
Clasping her elbows, he stared deep into her eyes, guilt at her reaction eating at his gut. “Trust me, please. I am a Galactic Defender. I never expected to find you here, but since I have, I want end my service to the Alliance. I need you to be patient with me and keep our family a secret until then.”

#MySexySaturday: A Sexy Showdown in ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE #books #romance

MY SEXY SHOWDOWN
When I think of a sexy showdown, I think of hot cowboys on a dirty dusty street, and drawing their pistols. Well, I don’t have any westerns with that type of scene, but here’s seven paragraphs from my New Adult Western Romance, ACCIDENTAL ROMANCE.
Setup: Leanna lost her hand in a serious farming accident. And it was the farmhand, Jake, who saved her. She’s having a hard time with adjusting to living with no hand, but Jake refuses to let her sit around. Here’s one of Leanne’s sexy showdowns with the farmhand…
“I’m sure you can do many things once you get used to—”
She spun around at his truck. “What? My hand being gone? It’s a hard enough thing to say, let alone get used to.” If only she could go back in time, somehow prevent what had happened to her. She never should have borrowed that ancient auger. And sticking a branch in to get the intake unclogged was a stupid idea. She’d been trained from the first time her dad took her on a ride-along that the tractor always has to be turned off before removing debris from any equipment. But she’d been in such a hurry…. She swallowed the lump in her throat. It was her own fault she had no hand.
“No, I was going to say me being constantly by your side. Because, no matter how much you object, I’m going to have you working in the barns. You’re not giving up on your dreams.” He opened the passenger door for her.
Fuming, she stepped up and inside, mad at herself and him. Why didn’t he understand how difficult things would be for her now? Even strapping herself in proved tricky. She struggled with the buckle, fighting to line the two ends up with only her left hand. Finally, she clicked them together and leaned back in the seat. This is only the beginning.
Jake closed the door and got in on the driver’s side, tossing her luggage into the backseat. “And if you don’t show up, I’ll come get you and throw you over my shoulder to carry you out there.”
She pursed her lips to hide a smile, remembering him doing so once before when they’d been horsing around. She really would miss working with him. But she couldn’t do the things she used to. “I can’t.”
“So, what are you going to do all day? Sit on your ass? That’s not like you, LA.” He started the truck and drove out of the parking lot with a heavy foot. “You can’t stop living because one of your hands is gone.”

Jessica E. Subject’s Writing Update ~ Trying to work with kids home
Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for this week’s Weekly Writing Update. If you couldn’t tell from the title of the post, my kids are home from school for the summer. They have activities they are involved in, but they do not take up as much time as school. Plus, I have to take them there are back. I’m trying to stick with my schedule, but it’s much more difficult during the summer months. So, I’m just trying to fit in writing and reading time around everything else.

In my new release, BRYCE, the Galactic Defenders travel across the universe hunting the Erebus. The story begins on Earth, where unsuspecting Terrans have grotesque aliens ready to kill any being they come across. Then Bryce leaves the planet with the long lost princess of Hemera and her daughter. During the course of the story, the characters travel to Hemera, Tuey, and Niesgoo, travelling between each planet on a space carrier and shuttles. I try to keep each planet distinct, some desert-like planets, others tidally-locked to their sun, and Hemera, which is a water planet with a small patch of land. The next book in the series with start and end on Kalara, with a trip to Earth in between. I’m busy figuring out how to make that planet different from the others.

#8Sunday: Who is Katrina’s father? Excerpt from BRYCE (Galactic Defenders) #books #sfr #romance
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
BRYCE has been out for over a week now. Thank you to all the Warriors for your support! I’m going to skip ahead a bit with this excerpt. So far, you’ve met Bryce, Lalia, Quinn, and Katrina. But, there’s a secret about them all that only Lalia knows. She’s about to share it… (edited from the published version)
“You need to know, I didn’t love Quinn, not the way I have always loved you. And he is not her father.”
“So, if Quinn’s not the father, who is?”
Lalia took his hands and pulled him to sit beside her. “Bryce, I was pregnant before I was sent to Earth. That was the main reason my parents insisted I go. They didn’t want anyone to find out.”
His chest ached with the realization of the meaning of her words. “So, that means—”
“Yes, you’re Katrina’s father.”

Today’s theme is…
A SEXY CASTLE
Lalia is a princess, but she has been away from her kingdom and the castle for many years. Here is an excerpt from BRYCE.
Setup: I’m sorry this isn’t a very sexy excerpt, but Lalia is returning to her castle for the first time in over nineteen years. Bryce is away on a mission, so he is not with her. Luchivus is Lalia’s brother.
Lalia walked off the ship, side by side with her daughter. Not Hemera protocol, but she didn’t care. She refused to let Katrina step onto the foreign planet on her own, especially when the young woman had only learned of life beyond Earth a few days ago. Her daughter scratched her arm obsessively, a sure sign of nervousness. And maybe Lalia felt the same way, too. It had been so many years since she’d last set foot on the planet.
Crowds of Hemera surrounded the landing platform, everyone dressed in formal wear as if ready to attend a ball. She’d hoped no one would be there, wanted her arrival to be hush hush until she’d had a chance to settle in. But, for some reason, her brother had made an occasion of her return to the planet.
Luchivus bustled toward her, dressed in full royal regalia, his cape dragging along behind him, and his crown polished to a brilliant glow. He looked every bit as peremptory as her father had, using the crown to place himself above all others rather than using the title to help his people.
A little girl dashed out in front of her, jet-black curls bouncing along her shoulders. In her tattered white gown—probably a hand-me-down from an older generation—she stared up into her eyes, no reservations about approaching royalty. “Princess Lalia, where have you been? They taught us in school you were killed in the Erebus attack.”
Lalia released her daughter’s hand and bent in front of the girl. She brushed a stray lock of hair from her forehead. “I was on a faraway planet called Earth. The Defenders found me and brought me back.” Though she wished to be anywhere but. She stood and reached for Katrina’s hand, pulling her forward. They’d likely never get to interact with those outside of the palace on a one-on-one basis again. Not until she had a chance to make some policy changes, anyway. “This is my daughter, Katrina. What’s your name?”
Her daughter waved, and the little girl smiled before she hid her face behind her hands.
A woman wearing a once-white bonnet, and an apron around her plain beige dress, yanked the little girl into her arms. She curtsied, and kept her eyes down. “I’m very sorry, Princess. She is too curious for her own good sometimes.”
