UNITED, the thrilling conclusion to Melissa Landers’s ALIENATED trilogy is here! #giveaway #sfr
Hey there, booklovers!
I’m author Melissa Landers, and I’m thrilled to announce the release of UNITED, the final book in the Alienated trilogy. Our star-crossed lovers Aelyx and Cara have overcome some heavy obstacles to be together—riotous mobs, alien hybrids, and worst of all, high school on two planets. Now to stay together they’ll have to unite their people against a common enemy, a threat more deadly than they ever imagined. (NBD, right?) I’ve written an ending to this trilogy that makes my heart happy, and I hope you’ll love the conclusion as much as I do!
What do reviewers have to say about the series?
“The author’s storyline is out of this world.” –VOYA on Alienated
“The unusual plot and world building are ingenious.” –Library Media Connection on Alienated
“If [the third novel] is as entertaining as this tale, it can’t come soon enough.” –Kirkus Reviews on Invaded
“A fun genre-blending series that will only gain traction as it continues.” –Booklist on Invaded
If you love hot aliens, snarky humans, and wild sci-fi adventure, make sure to pick up a copy of UNITED today. It’s now available in stores and online.
Amazon | iBooks | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository | Indie Bound
To celebrate my book birthday, I’m offering one lucky winner a set of all 3 mini-posters in the Alienated series—signed by me! The giveaway is open internationally.
Best of luck, and happy reading!

Jessica E. Subject’s Writing Update ~ A week of movies
Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for this week’s Weekly Writing Update. While I have cut back, and did get some writing, reading, and audio book listening in, it wasn’t a lot.
MOVIES
I saw three movies at the theatre (Canadian spelling) this week. I took my son to see The Secret Life of Pets. It was very funny. At first it seemed like it would be all the commercials for the film rolled into one. But when the story started, I found it to be very fun, and funny. My son enjoyed it, too, and sat still during the entire movie.
I watched Star Trek Beyond with my husband on Friday night. I LOVED this movie! It visits a space station, a new planet, and introduces us to new species of aliens. Oh, and a new spaceship. Or an old one. I don’t think I’ll be able to see it again in theatres, but I cannot wait to buy the DVD to watch it again.
My husband and I saw Jason Bourne on Sunday afternoon. If you liked the other Bourne movies, you will enjoy this one as well. It was non-stop action and answered some of the questions I’ve had since the beginning of the series.
BEYOND REACH
My goal is to finish this story by the end of the summer. I’ll decide on a release date when I get to that point.
SALE
Coming this weekend…
READING
I’ve been listening to American Gods by Neil Gaiman and reading Wyvern’s Mate by Deborah Cooke.
GOALS FOR THE WEEK
More reading and more writing.
Please share what you have been up to this week. Are you reading or writing anything new?

#8Sunday: Like father, like daughter ~ Excerpt from BRYCE #scifirom #sfr #romance
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
I’m going to stick with BRYCE for a few more weeks until BEYOND REACH is ready to start sharing. In last week’s excerpt, you found out why Bryce (known as the greatest Defender still in service) didn’t want anyone to find out Katrina was his daughter. But, sometimes children are more like their parents than their parents want them to be…
Bryce stared, his jaw hanging open like all of the other Defenders standing with him outside the training room, watching Katrina through the one-way mirror. No one in the Alliance would believe a half-Hemera girl raised on Earth would have the agility and fierceness to battle the Erebus the way his daughter did. Or at least the holographic ones attacking her as part of the Defender training program. And not the beginner level, but one Bryce recommended for his squad.
The bulky Erebus hologram lunged at Katrina, swinging its tentacles wildly. With ease, his daughter spun out of its reach, somehow avoiding getting caught up in any part of the creature. Then she launched herself onto its back and slammed the zuranium blade into its thick, knurled chest, a perfect kill, but not one any Defender usually made. They preferred the safety of distance, using the bow or plazer. But, Katrina favored the blade, bringing her in close contact with her target. Brave or stupid, he didn’t know, but all the more reason for Bryce to send in his retirement forms and get his daughter away from the Alliance before Kimba drafted her.
BRYCE: Galactic Defenders Book One
A dedicated Defender…
Bryce fell in love once, but after Lalia was ripped away from him, he locked his heart from feeling anything for anyone else. Instead, he devotes his life to the Galactic Alliance, killing every bloodthirsty Erebus he comes across.
A shunned princess…
Lalia Comosova fell in love with the wrong man. When her parents learned of her transgressions, they sent her to Earth to hide her error in judgment from the rest of the kingdom.
A second chance?
When these lovers are reunited after many years apart, they have a chance to find happiness together. But fate steps in and threatens to rip them apart as it did years ago.

Jessica E. Subject’s Writing Update ~ Cutting back
Hello! It’s Tuesday, and time for this week’s Weekly Writing Update. I’ve done even better this week, but I’ve decided to cut back on some of the things I do each week so I can balance my writing time, work time for Decadent Publishing (audio & newsletter), and my family. So, the only blogging I’ll be doing each week is this update, and Weekend Writing Warriors on Sundays. I may have the occassional guest, but that’s about it until the summer is over, and my kids are back in school.
BEYOND REACH
All of my attention is focused on this story now. I wrote more new words this week, but I don’t think I’ll have it finished by the end of the month. Hopefully, the end of the summer.

SUBMISSIVE ON THE RUN by Tara Quan ~ Extended Excerpt & #Giveaway #BDSM @Layla Tarar @DecadentPub
SUBMISSIVE ON THE RUN
by Tara Quan
Obscene wealth and a toxic family taught Joss Bradlee to care about no one. He moved through life in a caustic shell, fending off gold-diggers with his sharp tongue and abrasive personality. But a stubborn submissive saw past his nonchalant act, and he fell hard and fast for a girl he didn’t deserve. When she accidentally stumbled into the line of fire, he moved heaven and earth to protect her, even if it meant letting her go. Ten months later, he ensures her safety and tracks her down, finally ready to claim the one person that matters. The only problem—she wants nothing to do with him.
On the run for close to a year, Kim Tran receives a surprise call from the man who’d put her life in danger. His family hired assassins to kill her, but he’s somehow convinced they still had a chance. With their entire relationship built on a lie, she resists the instinct to sprint straight into his arms. Faced with a social divide no sane person would bridge, she cuts her losses and breaks her own heart. But the Dominant she loves has other plans, and he’s spent his entire life getting his way. Too late to run and with nowhere to hide, she faces an adversary well versed in all her weaknesses.
At the Carnivore Club, two exhibitionists meet for a battle of wills, lured by a one-night stand service, misplaced cat, and several helping hands. With the aid of handcuffs, disciplinary measures, and a capture game, a reluctant sub rediscovers the pleasures of bondage, the thrill of display, and the ecstasy of surrender.

EXTENDED EXCERPT
Kim woke in a cocoon of hard muscle and minty cologne. Joss’s thighs warmed her sore butt. His arms caged her shoulders. Squeezing her eyes shut, she snuggled closer, refusing to wake from the best dream in recent memory.
“Cute as this is, I’m bored. You’re awake. Entertain me.” Warm fingers patted her cheek. She grunted. Leave it to her subconscious to incorporate her cat’s wake-up routine into the dream.
A pair of knuckles squeezed her nose. With a gasp, she forced her lids to unstick. Tiger must be sitting on her face again.
Reality and fantasy realigned as she blinked away the cobwebs. Full consciousness accompanied an unsettling discovery. “Where the hell are my panties?”
“In a safe place.” Grabbing her shoulders, the man-sized feline forced her into a seated position. When her lids drooped, he shook her hard enough to rattle her teeth. “I should have guessed you’d conk out. Sex always makes you sleepy. But this time, you dozed longer than usual. My pecs started to fall asleep. I didn’t know they could.”
They sprawled in one corner of the interrogation room. Fluorescent light blazed from above, illuminating the handcuffs fastened to the table. She could see through the giant two-way mirror on the far wall. Spotting the empty rows of chairs on the other side, she hid her face in the crook of his arm. “Oh God. That didn’t just happen.”
“You’ve slept for”—he checked his wristwatch—“two hours or so. As I said, numb chest. Worth it though. You’re a lot prettier without dark circles under your eyes.”
The soreness between her legs an uncomfortable reminder of her recent lapse in judgment, she swallowed to soothe her parched throat. Not ready to discuss what they’d done or face the ramifications, she focused her attention on his jacket. “How can you wear a wool suit in Las Vegas?”
“I plan my day around air-conditioning. If there’s strenuous physical activity on the agenda, I try to make the ambient temperature close to freezing.” He pressed something cold and wet against the back of her neck. She turned her head to discover a bottle of Perrier. Someone must have delivered it while she was out.
“Which explains this ice box.” Yanking the fizzy water out of his grasp, she guzzled the icy liquid. Unflavored soda had no reason for existing, but thirst overruled her picky taste buds. “So you came knowing I’d let you fuck me.” It hurt her pride he’d deemed her a sure thing.
“I hoped missing me would throw you off balance.” He retrieved the half-empty bottle and placed it to their side. “That and threatening to steal the damn cat. And yes, from the moment we met, getting your panties off was always the simple part. Everything else is a shit ton more complicated.”
A way with words, the man had not. Too bad his brand of dominance chimed perfectly with her needs. “Yeah, I’m easy.”
“You’re the opposite of easy, pet. Taking care of you redefined difficult.” A grin creased his cheeks. “But I don’t mind. You’re worth it.”
She heaved a sigh. Staying mad suddenly became impossible.
With great effort, she rekindled her anger. “You lied to me. I’m not okay with it, although I should have guessed you weren’t some lackey.” In the posh surroundings of Boston’s underground BDSM club, Joss had commanded obedience with too much confidence, shirked the trappings of privilege with the callousness of a man who’d wanted for nothing. But she’d seen what she’d wanted to see, blinding herself to a truth so obvious the charade seemed laughable. “Personal assistant my ass.”
“As I said, you jump to the weirdest conclusions.” Lacing his fingers through her hair, he combed the tangled strands apart. “To be fair, my brother did consider me his personal assistant. He just never paid me. Come to think of it, the cash always flowed the other way round. By the time you’d caught on, you liked instant messaging me between classes too much to ask questions.”
“Fine. I don’t make friends easily, and I didn’t want to lose you.” She respected herself enough to admit it out loud. “But why pretend to be someone else?” Obscene wealth was an asset, not a handicap.
His icy mask cracked. “I got addicted to the way you look at me.”
She frowned. “What way?”
“As if I’m a person, not a name. Before telling you the truth, I wanted to become someone you could like.”
Traces of past pain furrowed his forehead. With trembling fingers, she smoothed out the grooves. “You’re already someone I like.” Someone she more than liked. “No matter what happens, you need to know that.”
He caught her hand and brought it to his lips. “Still think you can run from this, do you?”
She had to. “When I do, I need you to remember it’s because of me.”
“God damn. I’m getting the ‘it’s not you it’s me’ speech.” He drew air quotes with his fingers. “It must be karma. Nice try, but there is a logical flaw to your breakup routine. You see, I decide how I feel about you. You decide how you feel about me. How one feels about oneself at no point factors into the equation.”
His argument made her dizzy. “Were you on the debate team or something?”
“Parliamentary and forensic. Trust me, you can’t win.” Behind his smug smile, she glimpsed something more—obstinate determination and absolute certainty.
Thrilled and terrified, she swallowed the lump in her throat. “We could get over each other if we tried.”
Imprisoning her with his arms, he trailed his nose down the line of her neck. “How’s that working out for you? On my end, every hot chick I see has your face. One look at your reflection, and bam—instant hard on. Our breather flopped.” He dipped his head lower, scattering kisses along her collarbones. “I’m glad it’s done.”
“No.” Her vision misted with pulses of crimson. She tried to summon an iota of reluctance. Her libido refused to play ball. “We’re not doing this again.”
He bit the sensitive spot between her shoulder and neck. “You don’t have a choice. I’m calling the shots.”
His confidence curled her toes. “What we had was less than a fling.” She poured what little willpower she had into the false words.
He squeezed her breast, the proprietary caress arching her back. “You’re going to pay for that lie with a lot more than a hard spanking.”
Arousal flared, potent and irresistible. “You have no right. I’m not your sub.” When he pinched her nipples, flashes of heat threatened to melt away thought. “But there’s a whole club full of women willing to play your games.”
“I’ve already chosen mine.” She writhed when his grip tightened. In her moment of distraction, he slid his hand under her skirt. With her underwear gone, he could shove his fingers inside her without preamble.
“Joss….” It hurt. In the best way.
He looped his other arm around her. Caught in a vise, she had little recourse beyond a whimpered protest. “I don’t want this.” But she did. Enough to erase the safe word from her vocabulary.
“Dishonesty seems to be a chronic problem.” He pressed down on her clit with his thumb and screwed his digits deeper into her. Her clenching inner muscles supported his observation. So did her uncontrollable spasms as his unyielding penetration vaulted her toward a crest.
She dug her nails into his forearms, a useless defense that only reinforced her helplessness. “Stop it.”
He ignored her resistance, playing her like an instrument until sweat once more coated her skin. “Why? You’re more honest right after you come.”
He added a third finger, and the painful stretching proved too much. She firmed her lips, unwilling to give him the satisfaction of her cries. With her body imprisoned, his ruthless mastery fulfilled one of her darkest fantasies. He forced the orgasm on her, and she wanted it too badly to end their game.
Slumping against his chest, she watched him lick his fingers. God, she’d been easy. Twice in less than three hours.
“It would be my pleasure to keep this up until you tell me what the hell is going on. The truth, or I’ll drag you outside and show everyone how wet you are.”
Her head spinning from the aftermath of guilty ecstasy, she failed to stop the words from slipping out. “Damn it, Joss. Leave me alone. Go find someone who deserves you. I’m not worth your time”
“What?” The fact that he loosened his arms and allowed her to wiggle free was a testament to his shock. “Seriously?”
“It’s true.” Burning streaks leaked from the corners of her eyes. She had to push him away—for his own good. Scrambling to her feet, she raced to the door. The world spun. She’d gotten up too quickly.
Gripping the handle, she forced herself to remain upright. When she pulled, it refused to budge. “Let me the hell out.”

#8Sunday: Expected to take his place ~ Excerpt from BRYCE #scifirom #sfrb #romance
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
In last week’s excerpt from BRYCE, you found out that Bryce did not want anyone to find out he is Katrina’s father. And as Ed predicted, that did cause some complications between him and his daughter. I’m skipping ahead in the story to give you an explanation as to why he doesn’t want anyone to find out…
He stood and pulled Lalia into his arms, kissing her forehead. “As much as I would love to, I can’t. I have my own duty to the Galactic Defenders. If I apply for retirement, and the Alliance finds out I have a child, they will expect Katrina to take my place. She’ll be taken from me before I have a chance to get to know her.”
The weight of his words pressed on her chest. She hadn’t realized the commitment Defenders made when they joined, thought her life on Hemera the worst. Holding him close, she glanced up at him. “So, what do we do now?” The happy ending she’d hoped for upon seeing him again wouldn’t happen so easily.

#MySexySaturday – A figure that inspired nude paintings #Excerpt from NEVER GONNA DESERT YOU #LGBT
Hello and welcome to the 151st week of My Sexy Saturday.
Here are the details: every Saturday, published and unpublished authors will be sharing 7 words, sentences, or paragraphs from a work-in-progress or an already published story.
Today’s theme is…
MY SEXY CRUSH
For today’s post, I’m sharing an excerpt from NEVER GONNA DESERT YOU, a futuristic lesbian romance that’s part of The Underground series.
Setup: Melina lives in a future where the world is run by a corporation. It sets the rules, including who you are allowed to have a relationship with. But, that doesn’t stop Melina from crushing on someone she shouldn’t.
Melina shoved the plate of replicated fries and a burger across the table. So much for comfort food. She had to find a way to see Brook again, coax her back out into the world. God, when the woman strutted down the corridors wrapped in her uniform, it was all Melina could do to keep her hands and eyes off the ass that caught everyone’s attention. Not too hard, or too bony. Brook had the kind of figure that inspired nude paintings by masters of the past, and her own late-night masturbation fests.
Slamming a fist on the table, Melina groaned. She had to get out, clear her mind with a run. Otherwise, she would be back in her bedroom, fantasizing—again—about the woman she would never have. Brook would never go against the rules, never take a chance at a relationship with a woman. She wasn’t the type to disobey her father.
Melina pushed away from the table and rushed to the door. Slipping on a pair of running shoes, she laced them up. She transformed the PC-issued communicator into an earpiece, and tucked it in place. Selecting a playlist of songs with a heavy beat—her favorite lately—she pressed the door open.
“Good evening, Miss Holloway,” the robotic female voice rang out. “Enjoy your run.”
She sighed. Planet Core had their eyes on her the minute she stepped outside. She wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow monitored her private quarters, too. They owned everything.
I should have lived in the past. During the times when—according to her parents—large populations actually lived outside of the city and ate food other than what came from a replicator.
All before Planet Core took over. Now, everyone depended on the corporation for food, clothing, and shelter, at the cost of their unwavering loyalty. If she ever had the chance to see what was beyond PC’s reach, she’d take it and run.
Her ass caught everyone's attention. ~ #Excerpt from Never Gonna Desert You by Jessica E. Subject

NEVER GONNA DESERT YOU
Determined to find and bring back her girlfriend, Brook enlists in the next mission to the foreign planet, Airondelle. But the deception at Planet Core continues, and Brook doesn’t realize the depth of her father’s involvement until he orders her terminated. Struggling to stay alive, she quickly learns nothing is as she believed.
Will she ever find Melina? Or will Brook be stuck light years from home, alone, and with a fierce predator hunting her down?

“We’ll do this,” he said, his rough words sounding stern as a vow. “And then we’ll curl up and go to sleep.”
Oh, she wanted to curl up all right. She wanted to kiss him until the world ended. He would know, too, because hadn’t she just answered him by vibrating in his arms?
He licked his lower lip, his blue gaze probing hers and looking at her Christmasy pjs. “Honest. You and me and all your Santas. We’re going to kiss.”
She cuffed him, laughing all the way.
He did, too, and crushed her against him. “Kiss me. Make it long and make it worth four more hours to wait for another.”
“You are evil, do you know that?”
The sun and moon and stars blazed across his features with delight. “Yeah. It’s what I’m paid for. Do it.”
He wouldn’t move first. That she understood. It had to be her, now or never. She leaned closer to his lips. A breath separated them. “What if once isn’t enough?”
“It will be.”
Disappointment rang through her.
And he smiled, consolation ripe on his lips. “Tomorrow, I promise to kiss you anytime you ask.”
She could live like that. “You could get in trouble for conduct unbecoming.”
“Baby, with you in my arms, I’ve already got that trouble, and if you don’t kiss me, I may just die before they come to throw me in the brig.”
She sank her fingers into his luscious hair, cupping the back of his head, her breasts boring into his hard naked chest. She put her mouth on his, his lips firm and soft, his breath heavy and rapid. She brushed her lips on his once. He hauled her up, and her skin met his. He groaned, and she slanted her mouth this way. He took her up and pressed her down. He followed her, his lips drinking her in, his tongue tangling with hers.
The euphoria rippled through her in a storm. No one had ever kissed her like she was his all, his everything. She had never wanted to be any man’s either.
And so the kiss lengthened and ended only because they needed air.
He pushed her back against his thighs, his hand sinking into her hair. “Abby, get up. Now. Come around the other side and crawl back into bed.”
Totally without a thought in her head, she obeyed. When she had settled onto her back, he ran one strong arm around her waist and pushed her to her side. He adjusted his body behind her, his corded length along her own, one leg over her hip. Then he hugged her tightly to him. “Tomorrow morning, if I’m not here when you wake up, don’t panic.”
She did now. She whipped her head around to stare at him over her shoulder. “Why?”
“Oh, honey.” He kissed her nose. “I’m not leaving. I’m going for an early swim.” He moved closer, and the feel of his mighty erection against her ass gave the evidence of his rationale. “I’ll need it. This will be the longest night of my life.”
