WHY: A Memoir, Quote-Standing In Truth, Not As A Religious Scapegoat

“It would take 20 years before I realized that my actual calling was to take my place as a peer in the gay community as a gay man of faith, and not become a scapegoat for the religious to curse the gay community.”

Love Guides Us And That's When We Win

WHY hasn’t even been published yet, but it has already generated important conversations with people I haven’t heard from in years. Others are also reaching out, hoping for a listening ear. All of them are facing incredible personal challenges and choices regarding who they or their loved ones are as LGBTQ+ people.

I am honored beyond all get out that these beautiful people would reach out.

When my world started to gain momentum in falling apart and all the leaders I had idolized seemingly turned ...

WHY Book Endorsement–Gregory Zarian, Emmy-nominated actor / Anti-bullying activist

“Randy Scobey’s WHY reminds us that to be authentic takes courage. To share your story with the world is brave. Randy’s journey is the story of a man who goes to hell so that he can come out the other side and find personal peace. This is more than a coming out story; this is a personal love story to self and freedom that we can all learn from. WHY is about finding your own God and living life one blink at a time. It is a celebration of the human spirit. Take Randy’s lead and ask yourself “WHY”...

Los Angeles Inquisitor Provides Early Book Review of WHY: A Memoir

Upper left: Speaking at an Arlington Group event hosted by the right-wing propaganda machine Family Research Council. Bottom: Meeting Karl Rove, who was “The Architect” of so much pain and hurt in the world, with Darth Sidious … erm … I mean the evil and infamous homophobe Lou Sheldon looking on, wondering if I would try to kiss him. Then, in the upper right, is my WonderDan and me today.

The Los Angeles Inquisitor writes

WHY: A Memoir is the raw depiction of one man’s journey from self-hate to s...

A Wonderful Opportunity to Promote WHY

I must tell you about a wonderful opportunity. I returned to do another GoFundMe campaign because of an excellent opportunity to promote WHY at an exclusive event on June 1st in Hollywood, California. A magazine publisher has invited us to participate in an exclusive industry (publishing, fashion, entertainment) event to celebrate the beginning of Pride month, do a book signing, possibly conduct interviews with prominent media outlets, and network with high-profile entertainers and influencers. ...

Beyond the Desert: Discovering Joy Does Exist Beyond the Ex-Gay Movement

In the ex-gay world, I was taught right off the bat that the reason behind all of the abuse and nightmarish experiences I suffered during my party days in the ‘80s was the result of the “homosexual brokenness” resulting from a satanic lie that I was gay.

After two decades plus of being in the ex-gay cult and eventually leading others to believe that same lie, I discovered that all the abuse in my upbringing led to very dysfunctional relationships and substance abuse. These dynamics had nothing t...

BIG Moment for WHY

Last week, I received the "proof" of the paperback copy of my book WHY. Earlier today, I sent the final tweaks to my publisher. What a relief! I'm exhausted and excited.

Every time I read it; I feel a range of emotions. I have survived many different forms of abuse, including ex-gay cultish ideology, and now I am living authentically as a gay man after one helluva decades-long ride.

Throughout the book, alongside the raw and honest revelations, there are also weird, funny, or weirdly funny moments...

Easter 2024 & Transgender Day Of Remembrance...

I have to admit. I am struggling with Easter this year. I am not struggling with Jesus or His role as Lord and Savior in my life. I honestly believe He rose from the dead to lead the way Home to the Divine.

What I struggle with is religious hypocrites showing up to church in their finest attire, big smiles, and saying, “He is risen!” while not loving their neighbor, feeding the poor, providing for the homeless, or sheltering migrants.

The pious are also scoffing around the nation about the fact th...
