Clyro Primary

My third visit in and around Hay-on-Wye was to Clyro Primary this morning. There was a fifteen-minute awards ceremony in the hall first thing, during which the sports day and Endeavour Cup winners were announced. And I couldn’t believe how well the pupils continued to sit still during my thirty-minute assembly that followed straight after that.

Michaelchurch Escley Primary

The second of my four visits in and around Hay-on-Wye was to Michaelchurch Escley Primary this afternoon. And thankfully, the thirty-minute assembly and hour-long workshop I’d planned were exactly what the teachers were expecting.

Clifford Primary

I was nervous arriving at Clifford Primary for my visit today. This was the first of four school visits (over two days) secured by a bookshop that sadly closed down abruptly recently, leaving me totally in the dark about whether any arrangements had been put in place… or whether the schools themselves were even expecting me!

Wilden All Saints Primary

Going into a different school day after day can be daunting until I get the lay of the land. But the staff at so many of the schools I’ve visited over the past 14 months have gone over and above to put me at ease and make me feel at home.

Kempsford Primary

Today, I set off for another small school, Kempsford Primary. After a cosy assembly for around 80 pupils – with a fantastic level of audience participation throughout – I then launched into the first workshop, for Years 1 & 2.

QEH Junior

Today’s visit was to QEH Junior, an all-boys school in Bristol. And it was a real treat to be accompanied by my cover illustrator, Theo Jarvis, for this one!

West Road Primary Academy

Far, far away in Doncaster is a charming school called West Road Primary Academy. And today, I was up at sunrise and out of the house by 5.15am because that was where I was headed.

Cirencester Primary

When I arrived back at Cirencester Primary this morning, a group of pupils raced up to greet me, which really made me smile. And shortly before I launched into my morning assembly, I was overwhelmed by how many pupils put their hands up when asked who’d read WARNING: Magic Can Be Dangerous!.
